Sad that I never got to experience his greatness live. I hope you have found some peace now Scott. <3

Jeeeez, I just can't believe he's gone. He was one of the best singers of the 90's, he was a very innovative one. I have nice memories of him playing live with Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver.
    Rest In Peace, Scott!

very nice to see all the nice comments here.
I wasn't a fan per say but respected his art and abilities.
having lost a friend myself in the past to addiction, i feared this day would come as you could sense it.
may he rock heaven as he rocked many down here and RIP
  • Two bands got me into rock when I was about 11 years old: Queen and Stone Temple Pilots.
No STP, no Pearl Jam for me. Funny how that works. I'm pretty sure I wore out my Purple cd. Saw them at Key Arena in 2000 with RHCP... I will never forget that, the guy was totally out-of-his-mind on stage, and it worked.
    This is really tragic.
When one does not see what one does not see, one does not even see that one is blind. -Paul Veyne
  • Such a shame... I saw Stone Temple Pilots in 1994, they were one of the bands that defined my life growing up. I suppose it was coming for a long time, but I had always hoped he would recover and come back to those heights of the 90s. RIP
  • So sad, I'm speechless

Can't say I was surprised. Was afraid this day would come. Same with Layne. Such tragedy.

I had the pleasure of seeing stp about 5 years ago in a small venue and it was great. Weiland was an awesome stage presence. Couldn't stop watching him

Scott Weiland at his best (or worst, depending how you see it). Thanks for being a part of so many evenings spent drinking beers in friends' basements.

Looking forward for a cover by PJ of any STP song.

  • The only thing I'm surprised about is that it didn't happen sooner based on what I was a reading a few years ago.

Sad news nonetheless, condolences to his family & fans.

It's so sad his demons got the best of him. My older brother took me to see them in the early 00's and after they came out I was like "what just happened?" What an amazing front man. He will be deeply missed. RIP

I believe he has a daughter and a son as well which is tragic for them. I was never a fan of his antics but it's unfortunate nonetheless when he leaves behind a family.

Bloomington, Mn PD statement as follows: On Dec.3rd at 8:22p.m. officers responded to a report of an unresponsive adult male in a recreational motor vehicle located in the 2200 block of Killebrew Drive. Officers arrived and determined the adult male was deceased.
The address seems to correspond with local Country Inn and Suites, he was scheduled to go on stage 9 p.m.here last night at the Medina ballroom.

Chris Cornell dedicated his final song for the show tonight at his Melbourne at the Palais Theatre
    to Scott Weiland.

This is the song, however at a different venue.
    RIP Scott.

    "Higher Truth"
    You can make somebody cry
    Go on
    Do what you like
I’ll be there by your side
    I know
    What the future holds

You can set the world on fire
    Yeah if you want
    It isn’t hard
I won’t be there looking on
To see the trail of lies
    As you fall

    But I’ll take the truth
    The higher truth
    The higher truth
    I want the truth
    The higher truth
    The higher truth

You can fill the world with pain
    Yeah if you want
    I've seen it now
You can fill the world with hate
    I’ve seen it done before
And I know how it all works out

Make a promise if you can
    You know
    You’ll only break it
Make a promise if you dare
    Go on right ahead
And let’s see where it gets you

    But I’ll take the truth
    The higher truth
    The higher truth
    I want the truth
    The higher truth
    The higher truth

Maybe you and I one day
    Will finally choose
    A higher truth

Come let’s sit in the sun
    Feel the world spin around
    As the birds fly overhead
    Can’t you hear the waves
    Can’t you feel the rain
As it falls upon your face

    (X2) I’ll take a truth
    A higher truth
    A higher truth
    I want the truth
    The higher truth
    A higher truth

Maybe you and I one day will finally choose
    The higher truth

    Can’t you feel the higher
    Can’t you feel the higher
    As it falls around?
