Wow - this one hits close to home. Was a huge STP fan in the 90's. Had a chance to see them in the early 00's and they were opening up for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He put on one of the most mesmerizing performances I've ever seen from a front man. So sad he could never beat his demons. RIP Scott.

  • Frustrating for sure. Everyone was waiting for this headline 20 years ago. But now it's pretty shocking.

It seemed like as long as he kept busy with music...the abuse stayed away.

Saw them live on several occasions...always a good time. So many awesome memories listening to the albums. Rest in peace Scott.

My heart goes out to his wife Jamie and his kids...

I can't believe it. I finally got to meet him less than a month ago. Along with Vedder, Weiland was definitely the greatest frontman I ever seen live. R.I.P. Scott, thanks for the memories.
  • Weiland was such an amazing artist. I am sad he is no longer with us, now I just want to listen to old STP records all night.
    Don't it make you smile?

Pearl Jam and STP were my bands in high school. Both bands have provided timeless music for me. So sad to hear this. R.I.P.

Very sad indeed. Although people will remember some of the hiccups, it seemed like Scott and life were starting to play nicely together. I feel for his family and friends. No judgement, we do the best we can while we're here.

Jeeeez, I just can't believe he's gone. He was one of the best singers of the 90's, he was a very innovative one. I have nice memories of him playing live with Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver.
    Rest In Peace, Scott!

very nice to see all the nice comments here.
I wasn't a fan per say but respected his art and abilities.
having lost a friend myself in the past to addiction, i feared this day would come as you could sense it.
may he rock heaven as he rocked many down here and RIP
  • Two bands got me into rock when I was about 11 years old: Queen and Stone Temple Pilots.
No STP, no Pearl Jam for me. Funny how that works. I'm pretty sure I wore out my Purple cd. Saw them at Key Arena in 2000 with RHCP... I will never forget that, the guy was totally out-of-his-mind on stage, and it worked.
    This is really tragic.

  • Such a shame... I saw Stone Temple Pilots in 1994, they were one of the bands that defined my life growing up. I suppose it was coming for a long time, but I had always hoped he would recover and come back to those heights of the 90s. RIP
