This really sucks. First, of course, I feel for everyone who cared about him on a personal and/or professional level. Secondly, Core and Plush are amazing albums, and it's hard when the front man of a band you feel a connection to dies, especially so young. I guess it can be easy to imagine that our bodies will just keep on truckin' no matter what we do to them, especially when we spend a lot of life in a drug induced haze. Very sad. That poor band and crew who were touring with him. That's gotta be traumatic.

I was gutted to find this news out this morning. I was lucky enough to see both VR and STP and he was an amazing performer. His legacy will live on through the music that we can all listen to forever.

especially after their guitarist just died not long ago too.

Yes, that's what I meant to write (was listening to Purple as I wrote it!).

STP also released a live dvd called Alive In The Windy City. $15 at HMV. I think I'm going to get this now. Scott also released a live cd I didn't know about until today, a 10 track cd called Live In Los Angeles.
i would like to find 12 Bar Blues...a real silver press as I can only currently find CD-Rs that are 'pressed on demand' .
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.
Been watching the live DVD that came with "Thank You." Such an amazing performer.
There's a DVD in that set? I think I forgot about that. I might have to go dig that off the cd shelf this weekend.
the deluxe version did. there was a standard version with just the cd.
I think I might have that set. I remember it being double the thickness of a normal cd digipack. I think it was cardboard(ish) and you opened it. Must be a 2nd disc in there
And yah the Windy City show also came on Bluray which was pretty awesome. I think I've got one or two full show High def rips from some fesitval in South America a few years back too.

I can't say I was shocked, because it was only a matter of time, but I was relieved to hear from his wife that he was still clean, it was just the years of abuse that caught up to him. His heart was very weakened from it. He was a HUGE influence on me and a huge part of my musical education, I was so sad to hear about his passing and will miss him always!

Dear Scott,
Let us start by saying thank you for sharing your life with us.
Together we crafted a legacy of music that has given so many people happiness and great memories.
The memories are many, and they run deep for us.
We know amidst the good and the bad you struggled, time and time again.
It’s what made you who you were.
You were gifted beyond words, Scott.
Part of that gift was part of your curse.
With deep sorrow for you and your family, we are saddened to see you go.
All of our love and respect.
We will miss you brother,
Robert, Eric, Dean

Very sad news. I hope we can all celebrate his life (and legacy) by listening to some of his fantastic music in the days to come. RIP Mr. Weiland.
