Scott Weiland has passed

It's hitting twitter.

STP was one of my favorite bands for a while. Only 48 years old.

R.I.P. Scott. Thanks for the music, and that "wig-wearing fuck" quote about Axl Rose.

P.S. Tell us what the rent's like in heaven.

I am crushed by this. He was truly misunderstood. As a fan, this was always a fear. Really, really saddened by this. Still one of my favorite bands. I hear his music everyday and his talent always amazes me, and always will.

First time I heard Stone Temple Pilots their raw gritty and explosive sound resonated with me and still does to this day.
Core and Purple are some of the best stuff to come out of the era. My first rock concert was STP in '93.
Was honored to see STP twice.

very sad. unfortunately he had trouble with substance abuse. first saw them open for the stones in 94. raw and great set. saw them a few times more once with chilli peppers. remeber how he created total havoc as he invited everyone from the lawn to the stage. mayhem ensued. fun to watch .

Very very sad! As a recovering addict which I am, I can only presume this was another death related to our affliction. In the over 10 years I have been sober I have been to too many funerals. I feel for his family and loved ones right now.

As far as his musical contribution, from 1992-1996 the Core, Purple, and Tiny Music albums in my opinion were some of the greatest contributions to our genre of music. I had the opportunity of meeting him on multiple occasions and always found him to be kind and gracious to me and my wife. He and his band also provided one of my most exciting musical experiences I will ever have. I was given the opportunity to play on Sex Type Thing on guitar at the Livestock Festival in 2002 with them. I will always cherish these memories.

I hope he is in peace..

    "Creep"

    Forward yesterday
    Makes me wanna stay
    What they said was real
    Makes me wanna steal
    Livin' under house
    Guess I'm livin', I'm a mouse
    All's I gots is time
Got no meaning, just a rhyme

Take time with a wounded hand
    'Cause it likes to heal
Take time with a wounded hand
    'Cause I like to steal
Take time with a wounded hand
'Cause it likes to heal, I like to steal

I'm half the man I used to be
This I feel as the dawn
    It fades to gray
Well, I'm half the man I used to be
This I feel as the dawn
    It fades to gray
Well, I'm half the man I used to be
This I feel as the dawn
    It fades to gray
Well, I'm half the man I used to be, half the man I used to be

    Feelin' uninspired
    Think I'll start a fire
    Everybody run
    Bobby's got a gun
    Think you're kinda neat
Then she tells me I'm a creep
    Friends don't mean a thing
Guess I'll leave it up to me

Take time with a wounded hand
    'Cause it likes to heal
Take time with a wounded hand
    Guess I like to steal
Take time with a wounded hand
'Cause it likes to heal, I like to steal

I'm half the man I used to be
This I feel as the dawn
    It fades to gray
I'm half the man I used to be
This I feel as the dawn

I saw STP at this huge stadium back in 1994, and his charisma hit us even in the cheap seats. Saw them open for RHCP and they totally overshadowed the main act.

Damn.... STP were one of my favourite bands in the 90s. I loved the fuck out of Purple. I saw two back to back shows on the No. 4 tour and both were really really good. Saw them again just before the last breakup and it was a hard show to watch (the band had lost their magic and was going through the motions). I just saw this news on Facebook, and it bummed me out. Never feels good when you've spend most of a lifetime listening to someone's music and they pass :(

So very sad. I hate this kind of news. R.I.P. Scott Weiland.

Wow - this one hits close to home. Was a huge STP fan in the 90's. Had a chance to see them in the early 00's and they were opening up for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He put on one of the most mesmerizing performances I've ever seen from a front man. So sad he could never beat his demons. RIP Scott.

Frustrating for sure. Everyone was waiting for this headline 20 years ago. But now it's pretty shocking.

It seemed like as long as he kept busy with music...the abuse stayed away.

I can't believe it. I finally got to meet him less than a month ago. Along with Vedder, Weiland was definitely the greatest frontman I ever seen live. R.I.P. Scott, thanks for the memories.
