No way will they be worse than last year. That locker room was a mess. Those players had zero respect for that clown act of a coaching staff. Just a new coaching staff alone will make a HUGE difference. I'm predicting 8-8.

I think if that defense doesn't get any better, they certainly can be as bad as last year.

    Just missing the wildcard.

From Trestman to an actual coach...who players respect...big difference!
That and EVERY other coach was upgraded.
    The defense was upgraded.
The offense will have a OC who understands the game is isn't a kid punching psycho.
Locker room cancer #15 is gone.

Just sucks that Mr. Fox has such a hard schedule first year with his new team.

    Here ya go

Lets make the over/under 7, with 7 being neither of us wins.
If the Bears win 8 or more games, you are a winner.
If the Bears win 6 or less, its victory for Ole SPEEDY.
    Sound good?

    We will bet.
A cooler filled with empty beer cans
    A pair of cincy britches
And a real shitty seat at Alpine.

    Sound good?

Yes, yes, and yes. The coaching staff is going to make the biggest difference. I'm really excited for Fangio as defensive coordinator. This coaching staff isn't going to fuck around. You can tell how awful that locker room was by some of the things players have been saying so far in camp.

    Not really.
Just trying to get the odds somewhat level.

    I would now have 0-6
    MCA has 8-16

I know what you were doing. You wanted that extra 2 game cushion! I'd take the bet, but no push. The over/under is 6.5 and I'll take the over!

    Just kidding.

How about we do over, under 6. Get it at least a little closer to your initial 3 win claim.

Ok, I will STACK the odds in your favor since I think this team will suck monkey balls.

Zero chance beating the Packers first game.
That said, we at least have a real coach and a real defensive coordinator. Coming from the worst defensive years the Bears ever had...the last two years.

We also have Shea Mcclellin as our starting linebacker?

As much as people whine about Jay Cutler, he is the best QB to ever put on a Bears uniform in their 95 year history. It's true! Look ...

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Chicago_Bears_starting_quarterbacks

Some could argue Sid Luckman, but it's hard to judge a man when they played in a time when moving pictures was just getting off the ground.

It's not an article with an opinion. It just lists every Bears QB in their history.

I can't give a good opinion on the QB's that played when leather helmets were still used, but Cutler if clearly the best they have under center that didn't have the greatest defense and greatest running back on their roster. Harbaugh and Kyle Orton are in the legitimate discussion for top 5 in the last 50 years.
  • Last-12-ExitLast-12-Exit Posts: 8,661
Ehh, like I said, based on what? Completions, td passes, wins? Certainly not playoff wins. Not all of the greatest running backs of all time have won super bowls. You still need a great qb to lead you there.

I'm just playing devils advocate. Imo, Jim McMahon is the bears best qb. Cutler has the numbers, but McMahon was a true leader.
  • mca47mca47 Posts: 13,280
Cutler actually owns a big percentage of all Bears, alltime QB stats.
He had many by his third season.
Hate the guy or not, he has been one of the best Bears QBs of alltime. Which, yeah...is pretty sad.

You guys know that when the Bears are expected to be a good team, they end up sucking. When they are expected to be terrible, they actually put together a decent season.

When did that apply? Because when they went to the super bowl, they weren't expected to suck.
