    no body particularly, I just remember a somewhat heated discussion about the death penalty and some of the train members kept calling it "revenge killing" and stating that there is no reason to kill another human being and now that this sandwich guy got busted for child rape or abuse it sounds like people want him dead, I am not saying I agree or disagree, just thinking back on another thread it seems that maybe (or not) some of the train members have experienced enough anger over the sandwich guy and others like him that their thirst for blood has come to the surface, I've always thought everybody has a thirst for blood (reason to kill or ask for the death of another) given the right circumstance's.

    Do you know what chemical castration means? It's a non-specific term referring to the use of a variety of different anti-androgen medications to reduce sex drive and sexual function. It doesn't refer to removing the penis, or any organ at all. It's not perfect, of course, but in fact does reduce "urges and desires" and thereby reduces sexual reoffending. It is also reversible once the medication is stopped. I don't see where the violence is here, any more than if someone were taking insulin for diabetes.

    I said chemical castration. I didn't say they their penis should be cut off, lol. That's not even castration. I'm not sure what the technical term is for cutting off a penis, but it certainly isn't castration, which would be cutting off the nuts. Chemical means nothing is cut off. Giving someone medication to help prevent them from being dangerous is not violence. I don't understand how you can say that it is with a straight face (actually it looks like you don't even know what chemical castration is, so.....).
    LOL !!!!!! sorry for that misunderstanding, I didn't realize that chemical castration removed the desire for sex......come to think of it I had never even heard of chemical castration...those two words together conger up visions of 16th century torture with a barrel of vinegar or some kind of nasty acid.

    Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the "paid their debt to society" notion when referring to a sentence in prison having been served. What they have done is completed the punishment of being incarcerated. There is no way that serving a prison sentence has paid any debt to the kids, the families or society who may have to deal with picking up the pieces of broken lives well past the length of the pedophile's sentence. No mercy and no pity from me when it comes to pedophiles.

    Actually, there are a shit-ton of Subway commercials here, and I think of him and what he did every time one runs.

    And I'm sure his release (maybe prior to the 12-ish years sentenced?) will open many wounds for those he fucked with. And their parents.

    no body particularly, I just remember a somewhat heated discussion about the death penalty and some of the train members kept calling it "revenge killing" and stating that there is no reason to kill another human being and now that this sandwich guy got busted for child rape or abuse it sounds like people want him dead, I am not saying I agree or disagree, just thinking back on another thread it seems that maybe (or not) some of the train members have experienced enough anger over the sandwich guy and others like him that their thirst for blood has come to the surface, I've always thought everybody has a thirst for blood (reason to kill or ask for the death of another) given the right circumstance's.

    Do you know what chemical castration means? It's a non-specific term referring to the use of a variety of different anti-androgen medications to reduce sex drive and sexual function. It doesn't refer to removing the penis, or any organ at all. It's not perfect, of course, but in fact does reduce "urges and desires" and thereby reduces sexual reoffending. It is also reversible once the medication is stopped. I don't see where the violence is here, any more than if someone were taking insulin for diabetes.

    I'm sorry. Is English not your first language? I can understand how maybe a nonnative speaker/writer might believe that "... I'm sure we can all agree that he will be forgotten forever ..." means the same thing as "'we' will forget about him," but it does not. The syntax is wrong.

    Again, thank you for clarifying what you meant to write. It's important that we are understood, especially if/when language barriers are getting in the way. And even if language is not the barrier, it happens to all of us -- even yours truly.

    For instance, I'm often misunderstood on these forums for being serious when I'm just kidding or being sarcastic. Hell, it happened to me just a few days ago. For those cases, my guess is that using the smileys would've helped me to be better understood -- or maybe even going so far as to add parentheses that say "just kidding" or "sarcasm."

    Having said all that, let's get back to your contention regarding Jared Fogle and our collective memories (or lack thereof). If the "we" to which you were referring means other posters on AMT, hedonist has already stated her opinions to the contrary. As for myself, I will never eat another sandwich from Subway. Reason: Jared Fogle (and the company's failure to terminate his contract when it had caught wind of his deplorable acts). Put me down as another who will never forget.
