I am jelly that some trans guys can apply their make-up better then I can apply my own make-up. I've spent hours in the mirror, I go to Sephora and the girls will do half my face perfect, then tell me to do it on the other side myself, but I don't get it right, and they make me leave looking like I'm quasimodo...I really hate make-up. Nail polish is fine, people don't usually notice that.

Caitlyn has a team of stylists, remember that.

I keep telling my wife to stop worrying about make up. I understand the perceived "need" for it for special occasions and work, but jesus, on the weekends going to the cottage, going to the park with the kids, etc? just go au naturale. I prefer that look anyway.

Well, I guess we all knew this was coming. Apparently an eight episode "documentary series" on Caitlyn's transition will debut on E! next month.

This shit's pretty much mandatory now.
But he/she wants to stay private.
    Exactly.

I was gonna write this long thing but decided, fuck it, I'll stay out of this. He has every right to do what he wants, I just think he's a phony about it. Nobody signs a 7 part mini series if they weren't doing it for the money. Be who u want to be, but don't sit here and pretend he's some hero.

    Exactly.

people can do what ever they like with them self..im ok with it..
and as we say in Greece.."from the moment is not in my ass,i dont give a fuck where it goes.."

HughFreakingDillon, thanks for mentioning Jon Stewart's comments. I thought Jon Stewart's perspective was interesting too.

I wonder if Caitlyn will finally see what advantages she had and took for granted back when she was a man once she has fully transitioned into the role of a woman? Not many people get a chance to live on both sides of the fence! Not many men get to experience the unfairness of being judged more for their looks than for their accomplishments.

The number one she will miss once the snip is done, being able to stand and pee in a gross public restroom. Oh wait, I doubt the Kardashian crew has ever been in a public restroom. Never mind.
I think she said she is keeping Mr. Peepers.
 peepers. When did Jenner get breasts? When was that picture taken? I didn't watch the interview, did he have breasts for the big talk?

He got 'B' cup breasts from taking female hormones back in the early 90s...before he met Kris.

I wouldn't normally watch such a show (wouldn't watch the Kardashians), but since I am really interested in the issues related to equality and acceptance for transgendered people, I watched the first episode. Her and her mother and sisters met with a trans councellor so that her very old mother could better understand what was happening, and why, and how to deal with it. And it really did seem to enlighten her. It also showed us what her worries and fears were about her son's transition. Caitlyn also went and visited the family of a boy who had recently killed himself because of his struggles with being transgendered (The mother ASKED him to come, btw, and he spent a lot of effort making sure no paparazzi followed him to her house. He switched cars 3 times on the way to evade them). All in all, it really does seem to be a show that is genuinely trying to reach transgendered youth to help them deal with it, to stop all the suicides (that issue is brought up several times just in one episode), as well bring awareness to the general public in an effort to build understanding and acceptance, and I applaud that very much. It's fairly groundbreaking IMO.

Why? How could you say that after what I just said? Why are you SO offended by her being public when that is allowing her to get out a really positive message?? It is VERY obvious that she's totally sincere about that cause. Whether she's making money or not, why does that offend you when she is legitimately helping a cause? I just don't get it. I think your biases are getting in the way of seeing the reality of it, TBH.

I don't think he's sincere at all. He used this transgender as a springboard to revitalize her career. Jenner said very candidly that she wanted to stay private. Yet since that interview, she's been on tv daily.

What bias are you speaking of? How can I say something after what you just said?

I'm not offended at all. I don't have to have respect for her because she came out. She said one thing and doing the exact opposite.

No, I didn't mean a bias against transgendered people, lol. I was talking about your bias against reality TV.
And I don't know how you can say you don't think he's sincere. I really don't think you've seen enough to judge that. You're just making a huge assumption. If you were paying more attention, you'd see that there is no way she's not sincere about her cause. As for the staying private thing... I think you took it out of context. I think she said that in a "in a different life, I'd like to stay private" kind of way. No fucking way could she stay private in the life she already had if she tried.

Come after me with a pitch fork if you must. But I don't think Bruce is sending out any positive messages. Legitimately helping a cause doesn't fit either.

My opinion has nothing to do with gender or preferences or straight or gay or trans or any other labels. Actions speak louder than words. And Hollywood is a lot of smoke and mirrors.

Yes, reality TV is the lowest form of entertainment. Non talented people reading scripts from producers is not good television. But that doesn't change what I think about jenner. Very hypocritical to say you want to stay private and then can't stay out of a cameras way since. Not just tv shows, but magazines and interviews as well.

Again, I believe you are taking the statement out of context.
I personally don't give a flying fuck of something is scripted if the message is good and helpful. I don't see why you would either. I mean, what is the difference between thst and a regular tv show?? They follow scripts too.

Foxy, don't you think that discussions of the struggles the people go through, and about the things that many people find confusing about being transgendered, being broadcast on national TV is a redeeming thing?? I don't understand how youbwpuodn't see that as a positive.
To be clear, I am not a big Jenner fan or anything. I am simply a champion of these issues. And as someone who cares very much about that, I assure you, something good is actually coming from that show abound Bruce being public with his transition. For sure. In fact, he is probably saving some lives. Literally.

Actually no, I don't. This privacy thing I just don't agree with. I don't think that's what she meant. But please don't mistake my defense of her message as a defense of her overall reality TV life. I just am able to separate the two.

(PS - I think dog fighting and WMA and bull fighting and extremely violent video games porn are all lower forms of entertainment than reality tv, lol. ;) ).

Lol. My personal sensibilities aren't offended by porn, but now that internet porn is a thing, yikes. It is SUCH a terrible influence for impressionable young men as they develop their own sexuality. Now that it's accessible to young people, I have a way harsher opinion of it than I used to.

I haven't watched her show, I decided to watch the one on TLC with the little girl...Jazz. She knew since she was something like 3 or 4, and one of the shows I saw was about her going to the doctor to decide if she wanted to start hormone blockers. I think that show is a little more realistic, she is a regular kid with a regular family.

Caitlyn on the other hand, has a team of make-up artists, wardrobe, and whoever else to make sure she looks awesome (though, I think she still walks like a dude, she needs to stop that), that's not realistic for most transgenders. Not saying her show can't help, but I can see how people can criticize her, and how some people won't be able to relate. I will watch it at some point just because I'm curious.

That's true, but to give her credit, she brings that up and acknowledges the she is way more advantaged than most people when it comes to this issue. She's not going around acting like everyone should do what she could. Honestly... not much to criticize about this show so far.
