I stand corrected.

But past winners include Michael Sam, Robin Roberts, Pat Summitt, Nelson Mandela, Tommy Smith and John Carlos.

If she was not connected to the Kardashians many people would have a very different opinion about all of this and how its being handled.

I for one support her efforts. But am suspicious about the timing of the award. Im of the belief that someone like Lauren Hill is much more deserving.

Caitlyn does have it much easier than a regular person who makes this change. For fun back in school I took a sociology of sexuality class. One of the guest lectures for a day was a group of transgenders. 2 were prepping to be snipped, 1 had the snip done. One of the biggest issues the men who become women face is how to dress and how to do makeup. They have lived their lives as men and all of a sudden get dresses, make up and all the girly things available to them. The first had just started living as a woman for a month of two. It was one of the ugliest women I had ever seen dressed as a slutty teen pop princess. The second was about 6 months along and had learned to do makeup better and learned what her style was. She had said they all go through the bad makeup phase and slutty wear phase. Caitlyn has stylists and people taking care of all that for her. She is courageous for what she is doing but she does not represent the actual struggles of other people going through this. She doesn't have to deal with the shit they do. People are kissing Caitlyns ass. She doesn't have to go to work everyday and deal with the struggles normal people have.

Ole Bruce can do as he pleases. He cant live his life anyway he chooses. I have NO PROBLEM with that aspect of this story. What I do have a problem with, is the fact that this is FRONT PAGE news. I think it's only front page news because of the perceived dichotomy it represents. a former olympian, a "man's man", with x amount of kids, becomes a woman. if it was a tv movie of the week, it would get panned for how implausible it is.
