He was only shot and wounded. The guy shooting the gun fucked up- he never shot him dead. I thought the had. My thoughts here are that he must have been a piss poor shot.

I mean... if people are getting shot dead for talking too loudly in the movie theater... it's natural to assume that people would be getting shot dead for chopping people's heads off. What the hell is the NRA teaching people these days? The gun toters don't even know who they're supposed to shoot.

    Sheesh.

    * Now we do have to feel sorry for this guy.

Ha! I have no pity for this guy.

But yeah, he was hit multiple times but apparently not in the "right" spot(s).

Also, as a stranger, my thoughts have gone toward this woman's family more than several times today since reading the article. How on earth her family deals with it is beyond me.

Chad you talked about light pollution.I couldn't agree more.Nothing like grabbing some beers,Heading somewhere dark.Put on some tunes, drop a tailgate and enjoy some stars. And you couldn't be more correct about Country/Southern girls. We twist that up and throw the beach into the mix.Wow,just wow!!!

I might have to re-think my position. I'm not disappointed in lenient gun laws after hearing about this story:

Just today... this shitwad was busy decapitating people until someone shot him dead: Nolen, who was fired from the food processing plant, had beheaded a woman with a knife and was attacking another worker when he was shot and wounded by a company official, police said Friday.
    http://news.ca.msn.com/top-stories/woman-beheaded-at-oklahoma-food-processing-plant

If this person hadn't put this dickhead out of commission... we'd be forced to listen to how unfortunate his upbringing was and how we owed this really nice and misunderstood human being our best efforts to give him another kick at the can (he had already spent time in prison and was currently on probation for assaulting a police officer).

    * He assaulted a police officer? And never got shot? I guess not all cops are trigger happy, small-dicked dirtbags just itching to waste people, eh?

Is it your life mission to drag the death penalty into every conversation or space where you see a little room? Fixate much?

Here is the crazy part...culturally these fringe groups are able to taint the impression given by those who have class in their immediate vicinity largely by the classier folks' acceptance of the classless' cultural failings. Hence the popularity of terrible country songs with idiotic faux-patriot lyrics and rap songs with violent, sexist lyrics. Hence the popularity of trucks and guns for ruritans, and Cadillacs and bling for urbanites. It is insane. Songs like Red Solo Cup and artists like Nicki Minaj, this isn't a case of bad taste, it's an idiotic, misguided cultural alignment that effects probably millions who should be smart enough to know better.

Oh come on. You think you don't flaunt your high, mighty, and unchallengeable positions when the moments to do so present themselves?

This thread is titled 'Good Guy Stops Attack'. My contribution was entirely on thread even if I added my accent to it. So... you know what you can do, eh? Seriously.

It's a waste of time and money. He shoulda been left to bleed out. There is no doubt he is guilty of pre meditated murder.Witnessed by many. This is the kind of swift death penalty case I was talking about in the other thread.
I heard there might also be a fundamentalist component here.

Nobody calls someone hipster unless they are considered to be phony, and how many hipsters do you meet outside of urban environments? Yup - this was in another thread as well, Thirty. Mind-boggling - how do you just go and CUT SOMEONE'S HEAD OFF?

Also, if I recall correctly, he was fired and then went straight to the violence. So, did he have a knife already with him (and one capable of beheading)?

Fucked up is what it is. Wish I had more eloquent words for it, but yeah. Utterly fucked up.
It was a food processing plant. Handling a knife capable of beheading was probably part of the job description.

    http://www.wjla.com/articles/2014/09/pastor-said-ups-shooter-kerry-joe-tesney-was-having-problems-with-work-and-finances-107461.html

It's funny how we have 2 very similar stories about disgruntled employees going killing former coworkers with 2 very different narratives.

One story has pictures of the culprit posted all over the internet within hours. Criticism of his religion. No mention of his family or personal life, but his rap sheet is on full display.

The other story interviews his pastor: "he was having problems at work but never suggested the situation might turn violent". Talks about his wife, and their dreams to start a business together. No mention of whether there is a criminal history, much less how he acquired his gun and what permits he had.

It's also quite telling that your initial reactions are "shoot to kill". Not really helping, it just gives the image of another trigger happy gun-owner waiting for the opportunity to exercise vigilante justice. For people who give so much weight to the law and their right to own a gun for defense; you certainly have a complete disregard for due process. Just looking for a chance to play judge, jury and executioner.

IF it turns out to be the case, I respect the gentleman's restraint in not killing Alton Nolen.

I'm not sure if your post was directed toward me, but since you quoted what I wrote earlier I'l assume it is.

How you drew those conclusions up there, I don't get. Trigger-happy? Vigilante justice? The dude beheaded one person, was stabbing another, and was stopped by an armed employee. Yeah, I'm glad the carnage didn't continue and had he died, I doubt I'd have a problem with that. And I've not once mentioned his religion and what was mentioned in the articles I read.

Please take your advice, and try not be so quick to judge others either.

I walked into a hipster coffee shop in Chicago.

Over half the guys had on skinny jeans, beards, close cropped hipster haircuts, flip-flops, and flannel. Most had on the black framed glasses. Are you that hip if you look like everyone else?

No mention of whether there is a criminal history, much less how he acquired his gun and what permits he had.

It's also quite telling that your initial reactions are "shoot to kill". Not really helping, it just gives the image of another trigger happy gun-owner waiting for the opportunity to exercise vigilante justice. For people who give so much weight to the law and their right to own a gun for defense; you certainly have a complete disregard for due process. Just looking for a chance to play judge, jury and executioner.

IF it turns out to be the case, I respect the gentleman's restraint in not killing Alton Nolen.
Exactly what are you trying to say when you compare the two stories and the manner in which they are told? What's your point?

As for the 'shoot to kill' reaction you admonish us barbarians for... speaking for myself... I don't know what came over me thinking it was an appropriate course of action given one severed head was rolling around on the floor and 'Alton Nolen' was working on another one.

Just because you're happy Alton survived the gunshot wound he endured while trying to lop off another head doesn't mean everyone else should be as well. Given his actions and whether right or wrong, some people view Alton as a lower form of life than the mosquito you crush as it lands on your arm.

Yup - this was in another thread as well, Thirty. Mind-boggling - how do you just go and CUT SOMEONE'S HEAD OFF?

Also, if I recall correctly, he was fired and then went straight to the violence. So, did he have a knife already with him (and one capable of beheading)?

Fucked up is what it is. Wish I had more eloquent words for it, but yeah. Utterly fucked up.
It was a food processing plant. Handling a knife capable of beheading was probably part of the job description.

It's funny how we have 2 very similar stories about disgruntled employees going killing former coworkers with 2 very different narratives.

I hate when classics get adopted by fads. Beards go way back, hippies and hipsters can't take them for their own. Same with flannel, finely woven wool is as classic as it gets, grungeites and hipsters can't have flannel either.
