Good job that the people who fought to bring down Apartheid South Aftica, or to end segregation in the U.S, didn't listen to her one-eyed logic.

As for her assertion that war is the fruit of politics, many people would argue that the majority of wars have been the fruit of religion.

What are you doing for the people being slaughtered in Gaza?

    Nothing.

This willful delusion also allows her to take a moral high-ground from which she can patronize and condescend those people being oppressed, terrorized and slaughtered, while pretending that she possesses some superior wisdom.

Apathy doesn't constitute love. You're simply flattering your own ego.

Only someone full of hatred would have a problem with Mother Theresa. And although she served Jesus, she was more about love, peace and community than she was about religion. She was purely servicing the poor and giving of herself like no one else can. And you put her down.

Unfortunately, no war has ever been stopped by ignorance, apathy and inaction.

Apathy? Really, Byrnzie, that was uncalled for. Apathetic people do not take an interest in these subjects. The same with "flattering your own ego". Look in the mirror before you say that. Why must you persist on posting your personal attacks? Not to characterize you but because I'm really curious, is that because you are anti-peace?

And don't bother to slight me. I'm aware that I'm 8% full of shit.

I highly recommend that you read The Missionary Position: Mother Teresa in Theory and Practice by Christopher Hitchens before you attempt to advance that argument.

Sorry, off topic, but the book is an eye opener.

Seriously, if you don't want to buy it, I'll gift it to you. Just PM me your address.

Hitch pissed me off to no end throughout his career as an asinine albeit knowledgeable contrarian, but his research was always thorough and his opposing viewpoints (to mine, at least) were always worth considering.

Edit: Here's a link to the Amazon listing, although I would urge anyone to support their local bookshop.

What are YOU doing for the people being slaughtered in Gaza?????? As far as I can tell, all you're doing is making people disengage from the topic on a rock band's message board.

We're really getting off topic here but this reminds my of something a psych prof once told us- that people run the gamut from the most extreme sociopath to Mother Teressa. And then he went on to say, "But was Mother Teressa perfect? Did she not do some of the things she did to satisfy her ego?" Of course she wasn't perfect. No one is. But the lasting positive impressions a person has or had on others should be held in higher account than their foibles. You could make an argument against anyone who left a lasting positive impression on the world that they had shortcomings as well but to seek out and do so is the characteristic of a crank and a cynic and that kind of disparagement lends little if anything of value.

Now, back to PJ_Souls last question...

  • So, how many people made it to Washington for the National March on the White House: End the Massacre in Gaza yesterday?
