Because no prosecutor would try a case that they know from the start they can't win.
No proof, no chance of winning......no case.
It really sucks but that's the way it works in our legal system.
It's not like they set out to murder someone, it happened accidentally. Hence the above comment.
I thought part of being a “responsible” gun owner was knowing what is down range? Negligent homicide? Two guys rob a store, not setting out to murder anyone. Gun accidentally discharges, killing someone, maybe one of the robbers. The survivor or both robbers get charged, tried, convicted, do time. In the example I cited, neither were charged. Innocent dead guy, two “responsible” gun owners walk free. Flo Rida.
"Setting out to rob a store" is a crime and someone getting killed as a result lies on the shoulders of the criminal. I don't have a problem with that.
Stray bullet from range outing? Different circumstances altogether.
I'm not saying that it's right, but it's not as simple as locking up everyone who was there.
I didn’t say it was “as simple as locking up everyone who was there.” And it was illegal to shoot where the “responsible” gun owners were shooting. Imagine that?
OK...

Because nobody has ever not been prosecuted after committing a crime. Ever.
Well, on the bright side, it isn't the typical white male buying guns. That should make you sleep easier.
Statistically speaking it’s way more white but what difference does it make except that there’s more “responsible” gun owners? Maybe some of them are libs?
I look forward to to the NRA’s thoughts on this. Maybe the NY Post will do an in-depth report, following up on how the NRA feels about “more guns are the answer,” and “only a good guy with a gun.......?”

A guy drove through the group of protesters. One protester had his gun and approached the vehicle with it leveled and got shot. Can’t help but think that had he not had a gun he would be alive and the sick head that drove through the march would be in jail for a long time.

If he “leveled” the gun as you said, this is going to be a pretty open and shut self defense case. Haven’t seen a great video on this.

After the car sped through the group of protestors and struck a barrier. So the shooter isn’t scot free in the situation

I didn’t read that initially, so I’ll wait for more evidence to be released before drawing further conclusions. The videos I have seen don’t show much.

I live in Austin and have been involved in the protests. Only skipped last night because it’s my daughters bday weekend

Local outlets and some friends have provided a clearer picture. The driver apparently sped through the crowd and fired shots, then hit a barrier, after striking the barrier the dude with the long gun approached the car along with some other protestors, which is when the driver fatally shot the armed protestor. So looks like the driver was looking for a showdown and the armed protestor was potentially looking out for the others After they were assaulted with a vehicle and shot at. Anyways it still looks like guns plus guns didn’t help this situation.
the guy the guy that got killed in Austin also was a veteran...🙁 I feel very sorry for his fiancé.
Shitty situation all around. The guy who killed him allegedly in self defense , is also a sergeant in the army.
Looks like the driver was an out of towner that was coming to Austin looking to start something with the protesters. Definitely a bad situation all around. Garret apparently never even took the safety off on his rifle. In this case a lot of people are making the point that him having the rifle was enough of a threat to justify the shooting....it’s crazy and fucked up. Especially when if you so much as look at those Michigan “protesters” from a few months ago with their rifles screaming at cops you get the whole 2A don’t tread on me speech. I’m really at the point that I think a civil war is a very likely near term situation.

If only that were the case for all of them. Unfortunately, it's not.

230 felony charges.... Makes we wonder what happened in the courtroom that allowed this asshole to be out and about with the other humans.
Seems like a major failure of our legal system.

Seven years? Seven years for being “responsible?” ‘Murica.
But we’re still first, right?
