In his ass and leg. I thought standard police response to an armed threat, one who already had shot at people and should have been considered “armed and dangerous,” was to shoot at body mass? I guess unless you’re white?
So you are proposing that, while under fire, multiple police officers shot many times and intentionally hit him only twice. Once in the keg and once in the butt. And completely missing with every other shot?

Seems more more logical to me that while under fire the police were probably weren’t taking careful aim at the butt and keg and just more concerned about returning fire. And he’s lucky to only have been hit twice. That seems more logical to me. But you can stick with your sniper leg with a handgun while under fire from an AK-47 theory.
I’m positing that they exhibited great restraint and didn’t shoot to kill like they probably would have had the “responsible “ gun owner been black. You can stick with your minimization of how armed and unarmed white and black “perpetrators” are treated by law enforcement in ‘Murica.
So my assumption was accurate. You believe, while under fire from an assault rifle, they intentionally shot at his leg because he was white. No way I buy that. Doesn’t matter what color the guy is.
As is my assumption. How many cops were involved? How many shots did they fire? It’s not a one on one shootout, in all likelihood. You believe if the perp was black, he only would have been hit twice?

Yeah. Police departments teach their officers to dodge bullets while determining race, then return fire following the "target area by race" guidelines.
His race was widely known. His shootout with the police was the following day near his house while they waited for him to come home.
The fact that you think his race was on the minds of the officers engaged in a shootout with him is a stretch. "I hope I survive this without fatally injuring the nice white man shooting at me, the wife is making pork chops tonight"

I believe if a guy is shooting at cops with an ak-47, they are going to return fire to eliminate the risk no matter what color he is. And yes, he would have likely survived even being black. More people survive gunshots than die. Even for trained police, the hit rate for an active gunfight is like 10%. No way they were aiming for his leg. He got lucky. Race doesn’t play a role in luck.

Black man shoots 6 officers and leaves in cuffs...must not have been black enough?
Maybe those damn racist cops thought he was white?
Look, I don’t ignore the fact that white privilege is a real thing, but it is tiring that some people claim “white privilege” in some of these situations.  Those idiots are only fueling the racism fire.

It does more damage in my opinion.
This is isn’t the only cause of course. But young black men are being taught to physically fight back against cops. I’ve heard parents say they tell their kids if a cop approaches you don’t cooperate. After Rayshard Brooks, I saw an interview on CNN. I forget who the guest was and what show, so I can’t provide a clip. But the guest said Brooks did what he had to do to survive. He knew the cops approached him with plans to kill him and if he got in the back seat of that car he was dead. So his only option was to take the taser and use it. And of course the CNN anchor agreed. That is so absurd. And he just gotten in the car he would be out of jail on a suspended license right now.

Hundreds if thousands of police interactions happen every day and we hear of almost none of them because they go down without incident. Saying every white guy who survives did so because he’s white is ridiculous. Saying every black man who died because he’s blacked is also ridiculous. Race doesn’t play a role is the majority of it. But we need to improve so We can drop that 3 or 5% it is a factor in down to 0. Because I can agree, it unfortunately is a factor some of the time, just not in every instance that some want you to believe it is.

You gun nutters are all over the place with your logic. More guns is the answer yet cops, who I’d expect would be required to be more proficient with firearms, only strike their target 10% of the time in an active shootout. Blacks are 2.5 times more likely to be killed by police but because you could find one example of a Black guy walking away with handcuffs after a shootout with cops, race doesn’t, or in this instance, didn’t come into play. If the perp were Black, they would have been waiting outside his house in an armored personnel carrier and he wouldn’t have been allowed to get in his truck and drive away. And they would have made Swiss cheese of him. GTFOH with you’re “race played no part.”

You are saying the only reason this guy survived is because he is white, and if he was black you know without a shadow of doubt he would not have. You can make this about whatever you want, but it isn't that complex. It is a simple difference of opinion, and you got what you were after.

You do realize a gun fight isn’t like shooting  at a sitting target? They usually last a few seconds and in that time you’re running for cover, the target is moving and shooting. 10-15% seems pretty reasonable in those circumstances. But because I believe in stats that makes me a gun nutter I guess.

i didnt said race never plays a role. But in this case it didn’t. They shot at him multiple times. You seem to think the cops intentionally miss a guy shooting at them with an assault rifle because he’s white, and if he was black they’d aim better and have hit vital parts and not just the leg. That’s ridiculous.

Do you have a link to the stat of "gun fights usually last a few seconds?" The cops were waiting for him to come home. He did, got back in his truck and drove away where he was stopped and the gun fight ensued. You want me to believe that if he were Black, they would have allowed him to get back in his truck and drive away? The perp didn't get the "jump" on the cops, they followed him and stopped him prior to the shootout and then they didn't kill him. You think a Black perp would have been afforded so much leeway? He could have had a rocket launcher in his truck. If a Black guy doesn't comply with shouted direction to "show your hands", "drop to the ground," etc., he's a "threat" and treated as such. Unless those commands weren't shouted or maybe, more likely, they were all hungover from the bachelor party the night before and gave the arrest a half assed attempt. Just as likely.

To the bolded, how can you say that unequivocally? Because he wasn't shot to death? Or do you have some other information?

    Stats like these?:

    Results:

Victims were majority white (52%) but disproportionately black (32%) with a fatality rate 2.8 times higher among blacks than whites. Most victims were reported to be armed (83%); however, black victims were more likely to be unarmed (14.8%) than white (9.4%) or Hispanic (5.8%) victims. Fatality rates among military veterans/active duty service members were 1.4 times greater than among their civilian counterparts. Four case subtypes were examined based on themes that emerged in incident narratives: about 22% of cases were mental health related; 18% were suspected “suicide by cop” incidents, with white victims more likely than black or Hispanic victims to die in these circumstances; 14% involved intimate partner violence; and about 6% were unintentional deaths due to LE action. Another 53% of cases were unclassified and did not fall into a coded subtype. Regression analyses identified victim and incident characteristics associated with each case subtype and unclassified cases.

Recent analyses17 suggest that legal intervention deaths increased 45% (from 0.11 to 0.16/100,000) between 1999 and 2013, with higher rates among blacks (0.24); American Indian/Alaska Natives (0.20); and Hispanic whites (0.17) compared with non-Hispanic whites (0.09) and Asian/Pacific Islanders (0.05).17 An examination of data from 1960 to 2010 also indicated consistently higher rates among black men compared with white men, with rate ratios ranging from 2.6 to 10.1.3 Estimates also suggest that 25% to more than 50% of fatal encounters with LE involve individuals with mental illness.811 Concerns over the use of lethal force, including links to racial and social inequities and use of force against mentally ill people, have resulted in calls for increased attention to this issue within public health.46,8,18 Yet, research examining the circumstances of such cases remains limited.

Seems we know that if the perp had been Black, he had a 2.8 times higher chance of being killed. But not in this case, right? Because why?
I wonder if the stigma of mental health among African Americans has anything to do with this?

And does anyone remember the CGF? How many indictments were served up? Has the CGF ceased to exist because of all of their malfeasance? Hillary been indicted? Bill? I sure do hope there are reporters wandering the halls of Congress seeking repub comment. "They' just allegations and should be allowed their day in court, no further comment." Suckers.

Gotta love more guns and more “responsible” gun owners. Should these clowns lose their “responsibility” to own firearms?

Just another "responsible" gun owner, I suppose?

An Air Force utility helicopter on a routine training mission took ground fire over Virginia on Monday, forcing an emergency landing and leading to the injury of a crew member, according to military and federal officials.

The UH-1N Iroquois helicopter, assigned to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, was soaring east of Shenandoah National Park around 1,000 feet when the incident occurred, an Air Force spokesman said Wednesday.

The gunfire damaged the aircraft, necessitating an emergency landing at nearby Manassas Regional Airport at 12:43 p.m., the spokesman said.

About 20 minutes earlier, the tower at the airport alerted airport officials that the aircraft was approaching with an “onboard emergency,” airport operations officer Richard Allabaugh told The Washington Post. The reports indicated that a member of the crew was bleeding from a hand wound, Allabaugh said.

The crew member was treated for a “nonthreatening injury” at a hospital and was released, said a spokesman for the FBI’s field office in Washington.

It is unclear whether the crew member was struck by a bullet, hit by debris or injured in the commotion during the incident, which was first reported by McClatchy. It was also not known who fired at the helicopter or why.

The FBI said its Evidence Response Team would investigate the incident alongside Air Force officials.

The UH-1N — a workhorse aircraft commonly referred to as the Huey — involved in the incident is assigned to the 1st Helicopter Squadron at Joint Base Andrews, the Air Force said.

    4. American guns invade the U.K.

The National Ballistics Intelligence Service in Birmingham, England. Andrew Testa for The New York Times

Gun deaths in Britain, while still rare, have risen over the last few years. One reason, British authorities say, is an influx of firearms being smuggled from the United States.

At least 782 American guns have been discovered by British police since 2017, data obtained by The Times shows. Some of them can be traced to loosely regulated gun fairs in states like Florida.

“Weapons that don’t matter in the United States, because America deals in millions, routinely have an enormous impact in the U.K., because of the extraordinary scarcity of handguns,” one expert said.

I thought your “responsible” shtick was just for when people who like to portray themselves as law-abiding second-amendment lovers do something irresponsible with guns. Nice to see it extends to thugs that just walk up to and murder children.

How do “thugs” get their guns? “Responsible” gun owners maybe? Or do “thugs” forge steel and sideline in gun smithing?

Rather than condemn the guy that killed the child, he’s condemning the fact that the source of where his gun came from might have been like an illegal gun sale, or something. It’s insane. A more sane person sees that article says something like “that’s awful” or “that child’s poor family” or something, ya know, “human.”

The funny thing is I thought he was condemning the killer at first. That he was calling that guy “responsible” in the way he calls white people that shoot people “responsible.” Should’ve known better.

It's only a weird way to look at it if you don't see the root issue here as being the massive excess of guns with no reasonable system to manage how they are produced, distributed and used - responsibly. The gun mismanagement issue leads to the gun crime issue.

Yea well I disagree. Only one person pulls the trigger. You want to make an excuse for the animal that murderers a child, go right ahead.

And yet your Original post did not exhibit or express any such sympathy. How “human” of you. Maybe start a “Gun Violence Sympathy Thread,” if you’re seeking sympathy for victims of gun violence?

I’ve seen the question “when will the minority community get their ‘house’ in order,” posted many times in various threads. When will “responsible” gun owners get their fucking house in order?

I was told In this thread by an NRA card carrying, at the time, “responsible” gun owner that all guns begin their life as legal guns and every legal gun sale is to a “responsible” gun owner. Do “responsible” gun owners play a role in the gun carnage and do they not bear some “responsibility?” Or does “responsibility” only apply to certain demographics of the population?

Cool story. Can I ask why do you think this story wasn’t reported on by any left leaning media outlets since that was another point the poster brought up?
