He's right, you're just mad you can't refute his message so you attack him.
No he’s just a jerk. Just cause he’s right from time to time doesn’t change that.
Jerk because I'm telling a blatant truth?

Yeah... ok... better that than being awfully wrong but not "a jerk"

Interesting article, but where is the point that high-capacity magazines or assault weapons should not be in the hands of the public as a preventative measure.

Guns are the how.  Not the why.  But we should get rid of the how while trying to figure out the why.

On CNN now, Dayton shooter had a troubled past, was taken out of high school because he had a Kill list and a Rape list.  Red flags that were most likely overlooked.

“There must be some reason other than guns that explains why the US has such a gun violence problem” is a story that the American population tells itself. As long as that story persists, the problem won’t be solved.

Oh you know, boys will be boys. They need their fuck things and boom boom things to compensate for the lack of boom the ladies notice. Poor misunderstood souls. Maybe a little more Jesus in their life would have helped.

Nothing any of us say matters and nothing will change. The US is all in. The only solution is extinction. We'll get their soon enough.

So we just want a bunch of people running around wishing they could murder 20 people but not have access to guns to do it?   THat’s a start, but you are in a dreamworld if you think we can get how many millions of guns off the street and away from criminals.   Banning them is a start.

Video games are played on a massive scale here in Taiwan (and all countries) yet no gun massacres.

    Wonder why?

We have to start somewhere... we’re not going to eradicate the problem instantaneously.  I’m not well versed enough to outline a who, what, where & how but it must be done. I’d be happy to start with assault rifles being banned.

Mag limits would be a great place to start.  I think we can all agree that there is no need for a thirty rounder.
I like the idea of getting a firearms ID card and some sort of training before first time purchase of a firearm.
    Extensive background checks, etc.

i hope both sides can sit down with each other and attempt something.
    Def good start

How about starting with banning internet sales of firearms? And why is body armor available to the general public?

What sparkle of hope is there??

We, in other countries, see the news of these shooting and think " WTF is it actually going to take for them to make a change" . Your government (and not just now with Trump) is powerless to change anything and there are too many people making millions out of guns. Until that changes, nothing will

I have visited the US multiple times and whilst there is lots I love about the country, the politics, corruption (the money "donated" in election campaigns is one of the biggest issues) and complete lack of compassion with looking out for those less fortunate (healthcare), makes me very happy I don't live there.

But, beat your collective chest and sing the Star Spangled Banner, whilst waving the flag,  at the top of our lungs and everything will be okay and America will be GREAT again

It’s going to take at least three generations to get somewhere but by then there’ll be other, bigger issues to contend with. Thankfully, and yet hopefully, I won’t be around to witness it. How selfish, those boomers.

This is part of the problem...the thought that one thing will solve everything. It won't, but ONE THING is a start.
Ban automatic weapons (why ANYONE in the public NEEDS these is a mystery to me), offer a buy back scheme, stricter licence requirements, and the many more options that other countries have done are out there......FFS!! DO SOMETHING

He felt the need to comment on my post in a negative fashion (look at his posts/threads - most are negative) and I commented on it.

I didn't say his posted point was wrong.

I merely commented in a sarcastic way about his response to my sad post about the problem and the poor people who were impacted.
Associating me with any of this crap because I live in the same country is bs.
Associating me with this horrible problem of a President is also crap.

I'd like to tell you how I really feel about your post but the folks around here tend to be thin skinned and I don't want to be banned.

I don't care - just don't speak down to me like I am some sort of Trump supporter because I note how sick and tired I am of one person here being the most negative person on these boards.

I choose to have hope.  At some point our citizens need to stand up to out elected leadership and make changes that impact the issue.

You, and the rest of the world, can say whatever you want.  Those of us who live here need to find a way to make some changes.

    Those poor people.
    You wont.

Even people on the Pearl jam message board defends the Gun laws and fetisishes Guns.

That is a sign that it Will not be stopped
As usual, you are a ray of sunshine, a sparkle of hope, and a breath of fresh air bringing a new message of peace and hope to all.

Which Americans on this board are beating their collective chests? Who is against gun control?
Wasn't directed at members of the board, it was directed at America the Country...and evidence suggests that as a country, America is against gun control and beating its chest

A few board members are against all gun control. You know this; you’ve read it. A few others say they are for reasonable gun control, yet argue against every law proposed, finding fault with each of them.

On a related note, I have no idea why my phone keeps correcting it to “fun control”. I suspect my phone has been infiltrated  by the NRA.

What the hell are you talking about?
He felt the need to comment on my post in a negative fashion (look at his posts/threads - most are negative) and I commented on it.

I didn't say his posted point was wrong.

I merely commented in a sarcastic way about his response to my sad post about the problem and the poor people who were impacted.
Associating me with any of this crap because I live in the same country is bs.
Associating me with this horrible problem of a President is also crap.
You don't know who you are talking to.
Do you read any of the other posts here?

     Beating my chest?
    Singing the Star Spangled Banner?
I'd like to tell you how I really feel about your post but the folks around here tend to be thin skinned and I don't want to be banned.

    Be without hope.
    Hate America.
Represent the world in your hatred.

Feel great atop your high horse, sitting in judgement and saying "I told you so"

    Have a nice night.
My apologies if my response was taken as a personal attack on you. I chose to respond to your comment only to ask what sparkle of hope there was. I then expanded my thoughts, not is direct relation to your post, so maybe I should have posted that separately. It that confused the situation, again, my apologies

I don't hate America, I'm just dumbfounded by it, like many others. The same thing keeps happening and then the same conversations keep happening, but the only thing that doesn't happen is real change.
I truly hope that enough citizens do stand up at this coming election and start making changes, but even then, will a new elected President have the power to change some of these things? That's a legitimate question, because it seems as though there are always too many factors working against them behind the scenes.
