Also I don know of any laws that state that guns and ammo have to be stored separately. There is nothing illegal about a gun being stored in a locked vehicle either.
I don't believe that it is a law but it has been suggested by many organization including the NRA on how to properly store guns.
well some of y'all woulda pooped in your drawers if ya came over to the house back in the day. dad had his life threatened constantly (& he was beat often) as well as life threats to him about his family. i've said this more than two or three times in these threads; his job wasn't on a pleasure cruise.
guns in closets leaning against walls guns in the nightstand guns under the bed(s) guns on the walls guns in a wood & glass gun case guns standing in the corners & ammunition all over the place
three boys in the house & durring summer breaks from school we were home alone during the day. we were not fucking stupid w/ guns ever, not ever, not once. we never got given toy play time guns, not ever, not once, this was the law we lived under. we didn't even mess w/ the guns when mom or dad were not home, we just didn't. that was the law we lived under. yes i understand most don't live like this. most of our friends were domesticated & not wild animals like some people i know quite well
what we did do was fight, play outside, build tree houses, camping, football, baseball, boxing, bicycle riding, motorcycles, stealing mom/dad's cars, dirt clod wars, swimming, fishing & cleaning/chores.
Also had guns in house growing up and none of us gave them a second thought. Always outside playing or chasing girls.
My Dad and my uncles were all avid outdoorsmen and I can relate to what Chadwick said as well. My cousins and I respected the hell of all the rifles within the family umbrella and at 5 years old knew not to play with them.
We also loved getting in the trucks, driving deep into the bush down logging roads, and getting out of the trucks to hike deep into the forest on hunting trips. I can totally remember the silence being broken by the shot from a rifle and the ensuing smell of gunpowder in the fall air.
So, I can totally relate to people wanting rifles to hunt with. I can even understand hunters wanting sidearms when hunting. I just cannot understand the 'need' for assault style rifles and handguns when one lives in the middle of a major city and has never seen a tree (I can understand 'wanting' them though).
major cities are terrifying places fulla people. that's enough reason to want a firearm. i also don't understand gun nuts & the whole machine gun thing
thanks, gentlemen. is true we never gave guns a second thought. never gave a hoot about messin w/ them when we were alone. so yeah maybe kids should be taught something about guns instead of keeping their heads buried in the sand
those logging roads are just great to make one's escape back into nowhere. perfect

Chad, live in big city with lots of crime. I know though that's its relative and have no want to have a gun. Not worried bout anyone coming to my house to do me harm and don't want to lug around a gun when out. Plus the responsibility.
Maybe if I lived in bad part of town in an apartment? I don't know. Yeah have had times when someone hanging round house at nite in car I've thought about it.
Did go for ride today and couple cars ran into each other in front of me. So that's a concern.
so are you blamming guns or gun owners for this crime / accident ? is there a restriction that can be placed on gun owners that would stop this kind of thing from happening ?

Yes, it goes something like this:
Potential gun owner: Hello Mr. Gun Seller, I would like to purchase a firearm. Gun Seller: That's great! Why? PGO: Because I can. GS: Sorry, not a good enough reason. Are you part of a well-regulated militia? PGO: No, I am not. GS: Thank you for stopping by. As much as I'd love to profit off the blood of innocents, I'm afraid I can't sell you a firearm today. Have a nice day!

Sometimes it goes like this:
Potential gun owner: Hello Mr. Gun seller. I am a full-blown psychopath and would like to purchase an awesome weapon or two to shoot a bunch of people with- maybe kids or something... I'm not quite sure yet. How about that shotgun? Gun seller: Shotgun is no good. You need to be in close proximity and the cumbersome reload allows people to get away. It's really only useful hunting birds or repelling home invaders who are at your door or window. Potential gun owner: Hmmm. Good points. Yah that won't do. So what do you have for me? Gun seller: May I suggest this beauty? The AR-15. Large magazine and rapid fire can clear a room in no time. Potential gun owner: Humada Humada Humada. Gun seller: You'd do really well placing any one of these this little beauties on your hip as well (waves arm across handgun display). Each one of these babies is designed solely for punching holes in humans. Small and powerful... no armed madman should be without one. Potential gun owner: Giggidy Giggidy. Gun seller: And right now... with the purchase of any two firearms... we are throwing in a Kevlar vest at no additional cost. Potential gun owner: Yayyyyyy!
It's Call of Duty Day! Time to go online and have an eleven year old yell racist and homophobic slurs at me while he unloads a virtual banana clip into me.
