I'm curious about whether or not those that would prefer we do away with the 2nd Amendment would also prefer to do away with the 1st.

Why does the desire for reasonable gun laws have the same meaning (to you) as "do away with the 2nd Amendment?"

Surely you must acknowledge that the interpretation of the 2nd Amendment has gone a little far.

Gun laws are not the responsibility of the federal government if you adhere to the Constitution.

So yes, I agree they've gone too far.

That's a pretty big IF. Another way to say that might be:

When you don't adhere to the Constitution, Gun laws become the responsibility of the federal government.

Given the results we've seen and experienced, perhaps they haven't gone far enough.

Or our elected officials could uphold their oath when they swore to.

But that would require a backbone.

So you would have posted on the subject all the same, right?

I mean, if he had used a hammer. You'd have definitely let us know? Or would it not be sensationalist enough and not fit the agenda?

If I heard an anesthesiologist used a hammer instead of some kind of drug that is readily at his disposal, I would definitely consider it an odd choice, lol.

Our next-door neighbor owns a successful local auto body repair and restoration shop. Good guy, works hard.

Three nights ago, he was robbed at gunpoint. The asshole, wearing a mask and gloves, stuck the gun to his head, made him lie on his stomach, tied him up, stole his watch. Just the watch. Guessing he'd been observed for awhile.

He told me people asked him if he had a gun or was considering getting one, and he said no. It would have done nothing in this situation.

Didn't even report it to the police - one, the guy was masked, but even if caught, he didn't want retribution (they know where he works).

    Fucked up.

Not as much as what went down today in CA and WA, but still.

The gun grab has begun and the FEMA camps have opened and are being occupied. Black helicopters are circling and men in black are descending ropes. The post office purchased millions of rounds of ammunition, local law enforcement has purchased armored vehicles and an executive order banning Congress has been issued................................................................................

    Peace.

Ironically I did have some black helicoptors circling around my house a few weekends ago ... and a police department a few counties over from me (in deep farm country, pop 13,000) bought one of these ...

    :-$
Even the company who builds those armored vehicle things say that they shouldn't be on the street if not for the reason that its excessive force for the fact that they tear up the street and they are top heavy making them a danger to the public since they flip over too often. I believe the national guard doesn't even allow them on their bases for those reasons. Driving one of these around in US cities is like having the gestapo run the ticket booth at Disney Land. It doesn't help anything, it perpetuates fear and its a huge step backwards.

Score another one for "Good guys with a gun": Man defends himself at home against brutal attacker, 2 dead.

And this scenario presents the exact scenario that is indefensible: when a weapon is available... and when human beings become emotional... bad things can happen.

Bottom line: more guns= more deaths by guns. Period.

In my mind... this 'argument' isn't even an argument anymore. It's a joke of cosmic proportions.

Curious - why does the title of the link read completely different than the actual story?

No defending, no brutal attacker, one dead.

Fucked up for sure, but I don't get how this is anywhere related to someone legitimately defending themselves?

The fact that a child is dead is fucked up.

I just wish the headline (or link) didn't come across so slanted. That sort of thing tends to color my view, make me wonder about potential agenda rather than reporting without bias.

(there are no details in the article about what transpired prior to the shooting other than "confrontation")

for every example that is used for gun control you could probably apply them to ....sport cars, drugs, booze, nagging wives, cheating husbands and rap music as well, there are a few people in this country that are willing to give up what ever they see fit to prove a point to no-one but them selfs and they do it behind the disguise of thoughtfullness and caring and want so much for anyone to follow them into thier web of control...it must be a lonely and dark place to be the ledgends in thier own minds.

sport cars - traffic laws, air bags & seatbelts
    drugs - regulation/deregulation, doctors & NA
    booze - ATF & AA
nagging wives, cheating husbands - couples therapy & Ashley Madison
    rap music - FCC
    guns - more guns

The rest of your commentary just appears to be one long run-on sentence of word salad. Been to Wasilla lately?

yuuuuup the list goes on and on but the good news is that we can blame it on guns.....have you ever seen a gun load itself ? then take aim and fire all by itself ? that must be something to see.

That really makes no sense...clearly it is the owner of the weapon that must adhere to stricter controls, not an inanimate object.

Thirty I see what the point is Bro I just don't understand why anybody believes they have the right to control my firearm, if someone uses a gun in a crime in most states it's 5 years minimum right off the top but if I don't use a gun in any crime why would I let anybody have control over my firearm ?
