The lottery absolutely SUCKS when you request 2 shows and get shut out of both of them, while you have other people winning multiple shows. Either make it so everyone "wins" at least one show, or drop lottery altogether. That, is unfair. I got shut out last year while only requesting 2 shows.
That makes no sense. During a tour there are shows where too many people want tickets and shows that not enough people want tickets. People are generally only getting tickets to multiple shows because they chose to go to ones that were less popular.
You could of gone to 4 shows if you selected Portland, Spokane, Calgary and Vancouver.... but 0 if you chose some of the uber popular northeast shows.
I think the preference thing works pretty good, but I do think they should make it one draw per show, to eliminate people from dividing their first two pref's amongst different shows (which I think was a bit of a hole in the system). because you could request seated show 1, seated show 2, and if someone else got shutout of GA on show 2, you were both in equal running for seated tickets for show 2 even though you already had a pair of tickets.
They should just have everyone write a number on their hand
I'm going to write #1 on mine.
And I know your choking pj soul but that's why I hates ga. Bring back lottery winners for rows 1,2, 9 and 10
Lol. Well the thing about those fools with the numbers on their hands is that there aren't enough of them for it to really impact everyone else. They can all hang around getting numbers on their hands for 12 hours, but I can still show up 10 minutes before the doors open and be three deep directly in front of Eddie. I don't think that a handful of obsessive power mongers should or do have any impact on the rest of us enjoying all the benefits of GA. But with the 4 rows of lottery seats, 1) there are fucking SEATS in the way and that's no fun and so many less tickets sold in front of the stage, aka so many less people who get to get close, and 2) the chances of me or anyone else getting one of those seats are so slim it's not even worth hoping for.

I didn't really like that. I don't have a low number, but I have a decent number. I was usually row 12-16 at Vancouver shows it seemed to push me back to row 16-20. I never won it, and statistically speaking the odds of winning are low, so in my own selfish nature all it did was pushed me four rows back

Explain how choosing shows that would require flight and hotel arrangements makes sense over going to a local show. Because that's what you're saying. Not all PJ fans have bottomless wallets, ya know. I do agree with you that at very least, make it one draw per show.
I think its worse. I do feel people can and will manipulate the system. Now that I know there is a tour, I can start a digital account for my wife, one for my son, and one for each of my dogs.... and my buddy in CT can do the same thing. We would use our well-senioritied accounts for Reserved tickets, and our 589XXX accounts for GA attempts across the board and strategize our decisions/preference. Get just a few doubled up shows and some GA tickets and our tour is paid for.
That compared to the real me: one schmo trying to make 1 list is a pretty big mismatch.
one thing about 10c is we are very adaptive. This GA/Reserved lotto system was ripe to manipulate.
Does anyone else feel that there are too many games being played for tickets?
I hate to say it, but I find myself thinking that buying someones extra's or going to Stubhub is as viable of a plan as putting in for a show.
Maybe is just the game we have to play but it seems waste a lot of time and effort.
I'm not sure what you mean by "games". But I see finding a ticket buddy as a backup plan for if I don't win the lottery (I don't personally view getting tix off of stubhub as a viable option. I see that as an act of desperation).

But there was so other member who DIDN'T get Vic tix because you did. And some member who DID get Wrigley tix because you didn't. Seems fair to me....
I never got shut out before the lotto for a show I wanted to go to. It sometimes required hitting F5 for hours on end, but no luck was involved.
That's nice for you that you never got shut out before, but every time you didn't someone else did. Sounds like things have equalized with the lottery..... fair doesn't = you always getting tix.

There is no perfect system but I am not sure the GA/Reserved lotto is good enough, that is why I started this poll. Looks like others feel like it is good.

But wait, didn't people buy memberships for their wives and kids, etc with the F5 system too? Either way, each additional member can try for tix, so enlisting friends and family benefits you the same either way if everyone is trying for tix with their own accounts. But with F5 you can get 20 people to F5 using your own account, which is the closest you can get to cheating the system.

Yes to lottery but it has to be set up better, possibly in "waves" or "series." It's too hard to either put in for the one show you know you can go to and miss out, or put in for all the shows you'd like to go to and get stuck paying for all those tickets. There should be a first choice/first sale, then after the draw, people can enter again for tickets they either missed out on or didn't put in for on the first drawing. Kind of like what they did with the extra tickets they had left over for the Phoenix show and wherever else it was last fall. They had another lotto for tickets, they should put some aside to do that for every show, make it a series 1 choice, then a series 2 choice etc.
I remember seeing people put in for one show and didn't get it. And others put in for all shows and got them all. And others put in for all shows and got none. gotta make it easier somehow.

The poll is not about what is fair but what you prefer. I could care less about fairness and more about getting my face melted by McCready solo.
I know someone else said this a few months back, but I kind of like the idea of the lottery focusing more on geography. Like I would get preference for Chicago since I live in Chicago.

Oh, okay. I care very much if the system that 10C gives us for getting tix is as fair as possible to all members. I guess it's pretty obvious that the attitude of "whatever gets me more and fuck everyone else" really rubs me the wrong way.

Forget what I said 3 posts above and just do this instead. Good idea. If they actually played in ABQ this fall and I didn't get Ten Club tickets (either GA or close reserved) because I didn't get drawn in the lotto?? I'd be crushed. :(

But there are the same number of 10C tix either way. So your chances of getting tix for a local show don't change no matter what system they use.
Chances are much different as the lotto sytem will dilute your overall percentage as a much larger group can enter over a weeklong sign up period versus a shotgun start.

Yeah, but that would really screw everyone who doesn't live near a place where PJ tours.

The people who've actually won feel it's a good system. Ask the same people when they lose how they feel about it being a decent system.
It's not a good system when it's easily manipulated. It's not a good system if buying multiple memberships is the only way to getting tickets (like above). And it's not a good system when member numbers, accumulated over the years, suddenly mean nothing. And it's not a good system when an honest fan can't get a single show while other fans win multiple shows.

I would like to see the numbers on this... I personally don't think it goes this way. I believe that people still only enter/F5 for the shows they actually want to go to.

THIS. This is what I'm talking about. Perhaps limit the number of shows one can buy, with the tickets left over, have another sale.

I really like the lottery for its fairness. Whether I win it or not is irrelevant. As I mentioned, I only won 1 show in the past 3 lotteries. But I still got to all of the shows. Member numbers do not mean nothing. They still get you prioritized seating. And buying multiple memberships helps all ticketing systems. Lottery doesn't increase the usefulness of doing that.

Yes!
So then those who live in the East Coast cities get to see way more shows that anyone else, while people in buttfuck nowhere will never ever get tix. That's not cool.
But I DO definitely like the idea of limiting the number of shows any one member can get tix to. Say a limit of three shows per tour. That would also cut down on the weirdos who organize THE LIST. They're usually the ones who go to every show in a leg. Surely the band gets sick of seeing those same people on the rail every single night, lol.
