Lottery or No Lottery

yes, legit fans as couples with memberships is one thing.
I have a feeling though, id be willing to wager that a lot of these family members' memberships were not consummated or necessary until this lottery was established.0 -
Seniority has always played a factor in seating assignment. So there is precedent that seniority can apply. I'm just making the argument they should extend it to getting the tickets. I don't think they will, so don't worry.PJ_Soul said:
You're making a lot of assumptions about new members. Why do you assume that someone who is new to the fan club aren't just as in love with the band as you are? I only joined at the beginning of 2012, but I can assure you that I'm every bit as much of a fan as you are, and while I have been a fan since '91, I know there are plenty of people just as passionate about this band who only discovered them in more recent years.... so why should I be given a tougher time to see them than you, when I'm paying the same membership fees as you? Just because you have been LUCKY enough to have traveled extensively over the years to see the band doesn't mean you are more deserving of enjoying the band now. Shouldn't other people get to experience the joy that you have been fortunate enough to experience over and over and over and over and over and over again? Also, a huge number of people haven't been "unwilling" to see the band in all different places. The majority of people simply can't afford to do that, either monetarily or otherwise. Those people still deserve to enjoy the shows, every bit as much as you do.... maybe even more, since you've already done it so many times already.bootlegger10 said:
I understand your point. If a company has sports tickets to hand out they are likely to go either to the long-time, high fee client or the new client/prospect. You can't ignore new clients or fan club members.PJ_Soul said:
So what would the newer fans be paying membership fees for? No one would join and tons would drop the club if this happened.bootlegger10 said:You know, I have re-thought seniority and believe it should be included in accessing tickets. If someone has given PJ directly over $20,000 over the years for tix/merch and been a member since 1998, they do deserve a 10c ticket over a fan who just became a member this year so they could get a fan club ticket.
Can't think of a worse financial or marketing tactic for Pearl Jam, driving away new fans and filling all the best seats and the entire pit at their rock concerts with old people, lol.
I feel that I have proven over a 16 year period that I am a loyal fan by seeing 76 shows with an average distance from my home of 400 miles per show, along with buying 100's of shirts, posters, vinyl, boots, etc... I feel like I deserve a better shot at tickets than someone who joined in 2013, who may never see another show.
I am not asking that I get every show I want, but I feel like I deserve better than getting my only ticket as my 10th f'n priority draw.
Some argue that folks who see a lot of shows are spoiled. Who deserves a ticket more, someone who travels the world to see them regardless of where they go, or the fan that is only willing to see them when convenient?
Again, we are talking fan club tickets here. I feel like those that are willing to go great lengths to see a show deserve them more than the crowd who will see a show if only in their backyard. I get that some can't afford to travel, but a lot is based on choice and priorities0 -
Might be true, but I'm sure that family members got on separate computers and tried for multiple tickets back in the day.MayDay10 said:yes, legit fans as couples with memberships is one thing.

lol.
No way my wife would stand a prayer in F5-land. You had to be invested and focused to succeed. Even a few fan-friends of mine with memberships would call me at like 1:05 and tell me they lost, while I was still grinding on the "Temporarily Out of Stock" train.
Im not an advocate of F5 though, anyways.0 -
Seating assignment, sure. But it's never been a factor in who gets tickets at all.... Anyway, yeah, sorry. The opinion that people with seniority deserve tix more than those with less seniority is one outlook that kind of boils my blood, as I'm sure you've noticed, lol. And you're right. It will NEVER happen. Just the fact that people think this is something that ought to happen really gets under my skin. I've tried to just stop and shut up, but it's been hard.bootlegger10 said:

Guess I'll just sign up everyone in my household next year so I can have more ping pong balls in the kitty (like others have done with their spouses, etc.)...why the F- does it matter anymore? Maybe I'm 10 rows further back; but still ahead of the public.192xxx

I don't like the lottery. I understand what the 10C is trying to do in being 'fair' so that newbies can get great seats too. But perhaps have lotteries at select shows, not all shows. Been a member since 1996 and this is the first damn time I have never been able to get tickets to a show I wanted from 10C, in my hometown of Detroit mind. That ain't right.~*~Me and Hippiemom dranketh the red wine in Cleveland 2003~*~

On the topic of couples we are one that each have an account and benefited from it this time around, we are both huge fans and my girlfriend wants nothing more than to be on the rail atleast once
But anyone getting random family members to sign up wouldn't that be an issue on pick up day if this person that has no interest wins they still need to be the one to pick up the tickets0 -
Seniority gets exactly what deservesbootlegger10 said:
The $20 gets you access to the fan club benefits for that year. I agree. There is no rule though that says the fan club can't change the ticket allocations to include a weighting for seniority. It won't ever happen though. I'm sorry that I believe that seniority should get some perk, and seniority has now been marginalized to half of the available tickets, and wing seats. Still a benefit but not as much.dimitrispearljam said:
So if spent 20.000 in a year...did i cover the years i wasnt a member??bootlegger10 said:You know , I have re-thought seniority and believe it should be included in accessing tickets. we pay membership per year...means this year all members are the same for score tix..
the system of senority is just fine
if they make categories at fans privelege then fans they never played near their area should get a refound and charge less than others..
I'm not mad that other fans got tickets. I don't want them not to get tickets. But I just think that seniority should be extended to accessing tickets now that demand is much greater than supply. Times have changed, the seniority rules can change too. If they don't, I'll continue to buy tickets from Tickemaster.
the benefit of get better seats than a younger member..and thats all...whem comes.tk benefit of scoring tix..all members must have the same chances
at europe we had all those years only ga shiws..seniority means nothing..they should charge less then to us..cos we dont use or have this benefit..same as south america..same as australia....thats why we pay ALL of us the same money per year..for have same previlage per year..any type of categorize fans is weong when come scoring fan club tickets..20$ membership all??all in the same backet for score tix..no matter when u join or where u coming from..

You've been a fan since 1996 and this is the first time you haven't been able to get tickets to a show you wanted? I'd say you have nothing to complain about then. That's a pretty good streak. That's 18 years. Consider yourself lucky. There are other ways to get tickets. It doesn't mean you can't go.whitepants said:I don't like the lottery.
