Ya see, now this is where I don't have sympathy for agents or their motivations:

Now that the nba all star game is over and boras and Harper can now have the full sports sportlight imagine its real close to being announced

Not gonna lie - I went for a walk in the woods over the weekend, I thought when I came out I was going to turn my phone back on from Airplane Mode and be pleasantly surprised. Damnit.

Don't worry, next step is suicide watch.
    Manny to Phillies
    Harper to Nats

    Write it down.
I am gonna re-up this and say this is still my prediction. The Phillies have been crazy quiet on this and these rumors are all coming from Boras. Add to the note on trade rumors about all three teams seeing machado as a better fit and I’m thinking this may be what happens. Boras using the Phillies as leverage to get he nats to increase a bit would not surprise me at all.

It's getting pretty ridiculous. Not just for Phillies fans that want to see the roster finalized, the fact that Harper and Machado aren't signed yet seems like a possible problem for baseball and contract negotiations in general.

I am sure he came up in the league not liking them....but Philly is a great city and would embrace him.
I think he leverages Philly to get the best offer he can from the Lerners and heads back to WDC.

Martino is a troll.  Disregard that.

That's what I have been thinking too, as has been stated.  Philly has to do it though with Manny off.  I am guessing closer to $350 mil.

I guess the goal is to beat Stanton's deal...

Yep.  Highway robbery.  For luxury tax purposes, Stanton is a $23 mil player for the Yanks, I believe.
  • I don't even really want Harper. But I do want this to be all over and know what the roster is going to look like.

  • Might be better served to try and get a 2-3 year with Dallas Keuchel and hunt for another big arm for the Bully (a guy like Sipp, Clippard, or Norris that are sitting out there...).

These guys can all pitch but the bottom 4 are not names you necessarily lock in.

    Arrieta
    Velasquez
    Eflin
    Pivetta
    Eickhoff

If Phills sign Bryce it'll be pretty much just like the Nats signing Werth about 10 years ago. So a little role reversal.

not by much. If you look at the numbers they are kinda similar. harper's  might be slightly better, but Werth was putting up some pretty big numbers of his own in the last few years as a Phillie

Yeah they're not close. Werth had a good stretch in there, but you're getting a former MVP six years younger than when Werth signed his deal that hasn't even hit his peak age yet. Only thing(s) I'd bicker about Harper doesn't do that Werth did in his prime is steal bags, so I'd like to seem him to do that more. Oh, and Werth was the better fielder (so far).

I think his defensive issues last year were trying to not get hurt, but assuming this happens, you guys are sure as hell going to like the DH rule eventually.
