I never much liked Roy Halladay. Always thought he was a big oaf who destroyed the Yankees then thought he was cool on the Phillies.

I have really liked retirement Roy and certainly appreciate how good he was.

this blows. What a shame and so upsetting. So sad

When I toured the house that we ended up buying and live in now....in the den where I am having a vodka, or six right now...hung a framed scorecard and picture from the no hitter of the Reds in the playoffs by Roy.

I told the real estate agent that as a Reds fan that hurt me.

I'm sorry to see someone embrace their passion in retirement and leave behind a family like Doc did.

A great player.  Some great moments.  Perfect Game.  Playoff No Hitter.  Seemed like a really good guy.  Watched the video promotion of the plane and read that the lead test pilot and engineer for that plane perished in a crash earlier this year.  Wow, that sucks.

Just awful. RIP Doc and thanks for those years you gave us. I follow him on twitter and every time he posted a pic of himself flying, I'd always say he's nuts.
    Alright, alright, alright!

Unrelated to Doc, or the Phillies, but in fact to this city -  Mike Newall is hands down the best writer at the Inquirer.
  • I actually met Halladay at a Wawa in Media while we were both waiting for our hoagies and he was very cool and down to Earth. Totally in-line with all the nice things that players have been saying about him. Sad day.

Sad. I think this proves that a society like the Jetsons or Back to the Future or Tesla automated cars just can't exist.

That plane must be super easy to fly to give him the confidence to fly like that with only a month of ownership. He was doing maneuvers like I did in Ace Combat 2 on the OG PlayStation (note: I crashed a lot).  Maybe flying should be held as a super serious venture with tons of checks and balances and restrictions. I feel he was allure into a false sense of security.

@Jearlpam0925, we asked the three year old what he wants to do most today.  "Ride on a train"
Worked that into a train to 9th and Locust and a walk to Jake's for a Turducken Sammy.
Good heads up.  Sounds like an awesome monstrosity.

Nice, man. Let me know what you think. It sounds like too much crap on a sandwich, but nope, all the right amount of crap on a sandwich.
