I'll never understand when people say you don't "get" something. It's like they're telling you that you're just unable to comprehend the music. It's okay to say you don't like something because you think it's shit. This is in no way aimed at the OP because so many people use the term and it's been bugging me for years.

Now, a few bands that I think are shit that others like are:
-Tool (pretentious ten minute songs with lyrics that believe they're deeper than that actually are)
-Led Zeppelin (Robert Plant ruins this band. He's arguably the biggest d-bag frontman ever. They have a few great songs, but I will never put them on the pedestal that others do)
-Death Grips (Bullshit mumbles disguised as something that's smart. White people who read Pitchfork LOVE to jerk off to these guys)
-Kanye West (Again, the white male, Pitchfork reader, version of a genius)
-The Black Keys (Fuck these guys)

Sorry if anyone here reads Pitchfork.

You just made me so sad with your TOOL comment. So. Sad.

Tool is definitely over the top and you could easily say they're pretentious, bit their lyrics show a real depth of emotion and knowledge on the topics MJK writes about.

Not the first I've heard about Robert Plant ruining Zeppelin, but the first time I've seen anyone call him a douchebag.

  • I thought Mumford & Son were popular in America - well you can have them along with Muse. Best quote I heard about the Mumfords was from Liam Gallagher who said they looked as if they had nits.

Led Zeppelin -- I like a handful of their songs but, frankly, I prefer the Yardbirds, by a LOT.

RHCP -- I like their song -- thing is, as far as I can tell, they've only made one song. I think they're funny guys, though, very entertaining.

Kanye West -- Does anyone, other than Kanye West, really think he's a genius? I'm sorry, there's just no there there.

Guns N'Roses --Never, ever, ever saw the appeal. Never. Led Zep and RHCP, I can nderstand the source of the appeal, GnR and Kanye, I am just mystified.

Yeah, I REALLY don't get Celine Dion... She's sold 300 million records or something crazy like that, and I am just left wondering who in the fuck all.of those people are, because it's weird to imagine that many people sitting around and actually putting on her albums and thinking that is a good way to spend their time. Plus, she seems pretty unlikeable as a person, so that doesn't help either.

    Somebody said AIC???

how do you not get that?

anyhow.. I dont get any act that has ever used auto-tune.. Just let 'er rip you pussy!!!

 I was the one that said AIC. I just never heard a song of theirs that I enjoyed. I love Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Soundgarden a lot, but cannot stand AIC for some reason.

On the very slim chance that you haven't hear the EP's Sap and Jar of Flies, those are very uncharacteristic of AIC's sound, and might hold some tunes you could enjoy (softer, more accessible and arguably more "musical"). Especially Jar of Flies. Not that I'm trying to get you to like them. Just an offering.

The Killers, Foo Fighters (post Colour And The Shape), Arcade Fire, DMB, most of the current fashion conscious metal scene. Not that fond of where Coldplay and U2 seem to have ended up. Chris Cornell solo doesn't do much for me either and as hard as I try to continue to love RHCP they are a faint shadow of what they once were.

    Past, The Who (sorry)

Love Gomez to death and anyone who doesn't get Muse hasn't seen them live. They are beyond tremendous!
