Thus far at least, Queens of the Stone Age. I think I need to keep giving them a try though.

I love them. I know that they are not everyone's thing. And what I like about this thread is that it shows how diverse musical taste can be!

I would never force myself to like something. Or hate something.

I also agree with Radiohead. I've liked one or two of their albums, but I feel like I'm posing if I say I listen to them.

Also Mumford & Sons - because I like the Dead and some bluegrass, I can't tell you the number of people who ask me if I I've heard and liked Mumford. They just seem to assume it's a band I'd like, but they just don't do anything for me :?

This could be the best and paradoxically the most infuriating post ever. I can't belive there are people amongst us who hate AC/DC and Soundgarden, especially the latter, being kindred spirits :fp:

i really dislike chris cornell's voice so, so much.

You must not get Future Days.

I can see what people may like about every band mentioned so far, and probably like a few songs from all of them.

Took me forever to click with Arcade Fire, but their new one is pretty cool.

I guess The Doors are one band as "should" like that doesn't do much for me. I dig some of the hits and maybe a few others but overall just not something I'm into.

    Somebody said AIC???

how do you not get that?

anyhow.. I dont get any act that has ever used auto-tune.. Just let 'er rip you pussy!!!

 I was the one that said AIC. I just never heard a song of theirs that I enjoyed. I love Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Soundgarden a lot, but cannot stand AIC for some reason.

  • I'm happy with the response this thread has gotten so far. I love that we all havePJ in common but can disagree on so many other bands. Keep the lists coming. And to clarify...it is ok to like a song or two but not dig a whole band...i dig the bends too but not radiohead as a whole.

I'll never understand when people say you don't "get" something. It's like they're telling you that you're just unable to comprehend the music. It's okay to say you don't like something because you think it's shit. This is in no way aimed at the OP because so many people use the term and it's been bugging me for years.

Now, a few bands that I think are shit that others like are:
-Tool (pretentious ten minute songs with lyrics that believe they're deeper than that actually are)
-Led Zeppelin (Robert Plant ruins this band. He's arguably the biggest d-bag frontman ever. They have a few great songs, but I will never put them on the pedestal that others do)
-Death Grips (Bullshit mumbles disguised as something that's smart. White people who read Pitchfork LOVE to jerk off to these guys)
-Kanye West (Again, the white male, Pitchfork reader, version of a genius)
-The Black Keys (Fuck these guys)

Sorry if anyone here reads Pitchfork.

seems me and you always cross paths at some point..
not liking Tool or Zep confirms you dont play an instrument or have no desire to do so..and if you do, what the hell man?? those are two very great, and technically sound bands.. game changers.. especially Zep.. if there were no Zep, no PJ.. believe that..

Yes, I play instruments. I didn't say the members Led Zeppelin aren't great musicians, but talent doesn't always equal quality. John Bonham is arguably my favourite drummer and that's probably why I love Jack Irons so much (to me, they have a similar sound). Jimmy Page is an incredible guitar player and I actually enjoy his acoustic songs more than electric (Going to California/Given to Fly). I have no opinion of John Paul Jones because I've never listened to his playing close enough to judge. Like I said, my only issue with Led Zeppelin is Plant. I can't stand his voice and most of his lyrics. There are a handful of Zeppelin songs that I love. I don't hate their entire catalogue by any means. I'll just never see them in the same light as others.
Tool, on the other hand... Fucking nails to a chalk board.
Hey, if we cross paths on here that just means that we'd have some great conversations in the real world.
