I hear that there might be two shooters. Crazy.

But I heard there are only 4 dead, not 8.

Update: Now I see at least 6 dead.

Per PD, potentially two other shooters still on the loose. We learned in Boston that these reports are often incorrect but that is what is being reported.

Just heard that one of the possible remaining suspects is white and the other is african-american.

3...2...1...shooter used "AR15 style assault weapon with high capacity 'clips' and was dressed in all black".

Actually on edit that would be impossible since DC has "these weapons of war" banned from common-folk peasant ownership.

Well, they are weapons of war. No denying that.

And the current laws suck to where these guns can still be bought in one way or another. Most likely they were bought illegally, and that shows that there is a lot more to be done to end these illegal purchases.

And we know no facts yet, they can't even figure out how many shooters there are or if they are still active. Yet, the government has released the information that this has no terrorist ties.

Things that make you go hmmm.

I believe that report has since been retracted.

I haven't seen the non-terrorist thing, but it did strike me as strange that the President has already commented with so little information released thus far.

Regardless, very sad for those whose lives were lost, and their families.

this is the result of someone choosing violence as his solution to his problem ... someone who let his anger and hate drive his decision ...

the gun law debate is a distraction from what ultimately is the issue ... do we choose violence as our means of fixing our problems or not ... a peaceful society can have no gun laws whatsoever and we wouldn't see this stuff ...

I understand the point you are making, but I think the two issues are inextricably linked - the sheer availability of guns must play some role. Perhaps in a country where guns were far more difficult to obtain, that anger and hate would be manifested in a different way - not necessarily in a positive way, but maybe something that doesn't make it so easy to kill multiple people in such a short space of time.

i am in favour of gun laws ... i think the NRA is made up of people who are completely out of touch ... but the national debate on guns will not address these events ... like so many other issues - they have been politicized to the point that ultimately the points being argued have very little relevance ...

you can have all the laws you want but it wouldn't have changed what happened today ... nor so many other tragedies ...

when your first response to perceived injustice is violence ... this is the result ...

look at 9/11 ... immediate after ... people wanted blood ... and they got blood ... and guess what - no matter how many "top level" al qaeda people gets killed in drone strikes ... there are more and more "terrorists" willing to do harm to american interests ... instead of asking ourselves what would possess people to fly a plane into an office building - we did what we always do ... kill ... and respond in kind ... well, the circle will just keep looping ... and the ultimate tragedy in all of that - is there are people who profit off that and that makes them happy ...
