I agree that Live would be cool....but I think it was a big error in booking the Metro Center. That decision itself is almost pushing me from taking a chance and getting a ticket. Move it to the Marquee and make it a sell out. Better than being 7000 tickets short of a sell out at the Metro Center and having to cancel it.

that sounds like a much more feasible idea than cancelling a show and making people think that Halifax doesn't want live music.

i would have liked to have those kinds of seats for the PJ show. I was up in nosebleed land in section 39 near the top.

they looked like ants from up there, but they still sounded incredible.

maybe they should combine the Live and Hilary Duff show. god...could you imagine!?!?!

I was in Section 53 Row 2 (Row 13) on Mike's side on the Floor. Not bad for having joined in late '04. You lucky bastards though, sward and demetrios!!

i was a 10c member back in the early-mid 90s...too bad i let it lapse! i could have been right on the floor. i keep meaning to dig out my stuff to see what number i had.

i haven't rejoined because i figured that since i don't have a credit card, i wouldn't be able to get tickets anyway. my brother is the one with the card, so i'm trying to get him to rejoin. i'm pretty sure he was a member years ago, but like his big sis, let his membership lapse.

i'm off topic now, but i just spent the most glorious day at a lake, basking in the sun and swimming in water so clean we felt cleaner than we normally do after a shower here in the city. i am glowing (not just from the sunburn ;)) and i think i'm going to put on a boot (haven't decided which) tonight and bask in that glow and be happy as i scratch my bug bites.

This is off topic too..but good for a bump. Just watched the start of the Edmonton/Carolina game.....have you heard the Edmonton fans singing both the Canadian AND American anthem. Big example of why i am a proud Canadian...and why PJ needs to treat us to more shows ;-)

i'm not a hockey fan, but that was a crazy game (from what i watched of it!)

as this father's day winds down (thank god! this has been a rough day for me), i am going to play Man of the Hour in honour of my Man of the Hour who said goodbye to us 2 months ago.

    happy father's day dad. :(

Wow...go away for a day and you really see who the true fans are ;-)

Sorry Lanners....you've got some help now though. Hahhaa

I was just visiting with my Rolling Stone rumor buddy...and he says that what he said before holds...a matter of days till they announce.

    We'll see I guess

    hooray! i'm not alone.

i need some backup this weekend as i'm going out of town Friday and won't be back until Sunday. not sure if i'll be able to get on much when i'm away.

it's so weird, after years of seeing next to nothing, to see Pearl Jam (Eddie especially) splashed across the covers of so many magazines!

    still...come back.

I had a first the other day...I was setting up a new girl in our systems here at work and jokingly told her that in order to fit in, she must like Pearl Jam...well..her response was...."Pre-No Code or Post No Code?"

She's getting off to a good start ;p

By the way..she's a fan all the way through. I think I am going to incorporate the PJ question into all the recruiting we do! ;-)

Was in Pickering Ont. today and saw dude driving his white Jeep @ White's Rd./401. He had a Winnipeg sticker(?? Wolf head ?) on the tailgate from the last full Canadian tour, and his dealer plate rim said it was from Dartmouth Dodge !! This guy gets around, whoever he is. I wondered if he made it to Hfx. show, and what a lucky bastard he was if he did. Furthermore, if he had made it to both the Halifax and Winnipeg shows, well, I simply would have had to kill him.....

Dixie Chicks sold out pretty quickly and they added a second show in Halifax. Just a little FYI in case anyone on here was planning on trying to go.

On topic...maybe PJ can do a 2 night stand ;-)

I still hold onto my idea that they pull a Celine and just play Halifax for a couple of years...you know people will come ;-)
  • lannerslanners Posts: 458
i wonder how quickly the Dixies sold out for Saint John.

i was super impressed gang, what with being away for a couple of days and finding this thread on page 2! i'm so proud of you! :D

if PJ pulled a Celine in Halifax i would move down for sure.

I looked at the Saint John site late Sat night and it showed that there were still tickets. So...Im not sure it has even sold out yet.
  • swardsward Posts: 586
So..when do you all think the LIVE show will be cancelled in Halifax? Can still grab floor tickets less than halfway back and can grab any ticket in the bowl essentially. If there are 1000 tix sold, I'd be shocked.

MOVE IT TO THE MARQUEE ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a co-worker of mine got SHITTY tickets for the Dixie Chicks in SJ on Saturday and today she checked how many tickets were left and it was sold out. It didn't sell out as fast as HFX, but it is now sold out.

i kind of feel bad for LIVE if they can't sell out the floor even. back in their heyday it would have been different.

Well, both Halifax shows and the Saint John show for the Dixie chicks are sold-out. I hope that if we ever have the priviledge of having Pearl Jam back in our neck of the woods that we could also sell-out multiple shows in a short amount of time.

i know a lot of people who would have liked to have gone to the PJ show but couldn't get tickets. hell, i would have bought tickets for a second show, even if my seats were as shitty as the ones that i had.

the thing was that the concert wasn't well-advertised around here. the people i know who would have loved to have gone to the show didn't find out about it until after it was sold out. if someone would advertise outside of the message boards, etc, more people would have tried to go...

...oh, but then i probably wouldn't have been able to get tickets.

    fuck 'em for snoozing. ;)

Just came across this tidbit concerning Sleater-Kinney:

Fans of Portland, OR-based rock trio Sleater-Kinney will have only a few more chances to see the band before the group goes on "indefinite hiatus."
"The upcoming shows will be our last," the band said in a statement posted on its official website. "As of now, there are no plans for future tours or recordings."

The critically lauded, all-female group has only five concert dates on its summer itinerary, opening July 29 at Louisville, KY's Forecastle Festival. The band's final scheduled performance is set for Aug. 4 at Lollapalooza in Chicago.

"We feel lucky to have had the support of many wonderful people over the years," the band's statement continued. "We want to thank everyone who has worked with us, written kind words about us, performed with us, and inspired us. But mostly we want to extend our gratitude to our amazing fans. You have been a part of our story from the beginning. We could not have made our music without your enthusiasm, passion, and loyalty. It is you who have made the entire journey worthwhile."

The statement didn't address the reason for the split.

"The Woods," the seventh and apparently final album of the punk-infused group's 11-year run, hit stores last year.

i was shocked when i saw that.

they weren't my favourite band in the world, but i have a lot of friends who love them and it's a huge loss to them, and to the world of female rockers.

After reading some of the PJ fans opinions of Sleater Kinney, I wasn't sure what to expect when they played Halifax...but I thought they were awesome. Always sad when bands that have been together awhile call it quits. That said..while I loved Soundgarden..I was glad we got their drummer ;-)
