Yeah, I was there...it was a great show. mcauslan did the beer tent as well....it was nice to have something better to drink than molson.
I also saw joel plaskett there a couple of weeks...it is a really good venue and easy to get to with the ferry. But the weather has to co-operate
So I bid farewell to the Eastern town I never more will see;
But work I must so I eat this dust and breathe refinery.
Oh I miss the green and the woods and streams and I don't like cowboy clothes;
But I like being free and that makes me an idiot I suppose.

Where is it exactly at the Ferry Terminal..is it in the parking lot area? I can't seem to picture it. It would be nice if they had a way to have a weather cover ;-) hahah
Truth - Oshawa? Is that where you are?? K..I thought you were in Halifax, and the Lanners was in Moncton. Wrong on both counts.
Now back in downtown Toronto....and maybe back in Nova Scotia soon if I had my way. Lanners, you're from Sackville originally ? Is that NB or NS ? My sister lives in Sackville NS, across from where the old Hfx. Correctional Ctr. used to be.
Ok...so if you might recall...I mentioned in my Rolling Stone confirmation post that my buddy indicated that another major act was coming separate from the concert and I assumed that it might be Aerosmith, since they couldn't possibly play the 23rd..when the stones are here (supposedly) .....well...I found out today that it was the Black Eyed Peas and Pussycat dolls (In the Daily News). They aren't major acts to me..so I guess its all relative. Anyways..still hope for Aerosmith to give us a shout out...but to any Peas fans..look for an announcement Monday for somewhere in the maritimes (likely Halifax according to my pal)

Sackville NB. Home of the Mounties (of the Mount Allison variety) and the Waterfowl Park.
I figured BEP would be coming since they seemed to be so smitten with Halifax after the Junos.
I could seriously do without the BEP or PCD...Fergie ruined the Peas and the PCD ooze STD if you ask me. i'm not into skank.
They are co-headlining a bill with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The line-up also includes: Killers, the Flaming Lips, the Raconteurs, Scissor Sisters, Gnarls Barkley, Keane, Thievery Corporation, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, New Pornographers, Wolfmother, Drive-By Truckers, Kasabian, Brazilian Girls, Tiesto, John Digweed, Carl Cox, 2Many DJs, RJD2 and James Holden.
That kind of sucks for us but that line-up looks killer! I might have to consider going to that. Anyone know how far Baltimore is from Moncton?

that lineup is ridiculous! why don't we get shit like that here???
okay, so they just announced that BEP and PCD are playing on PEI Labour Day Weekend. You'd think that something official would come from HFX about the big show September 23rd.
Not that i care, really, since i won't be going, but it's always fun to have something to talk about.
Guess I was wrong that the Black Eyed Peas were coming to Hali...oh well....PEI will enjoy it, I am sure...I was there this weekend..what a beatiful spot.
Look for the Stones announcement next week....Monday or Tuesday...but next week for sure. Who knows on the openers now...I certainly don't have a clue
To anyone who was following my return to Moncton saga...they called me and want me to come in to see them tomorrow...so..after a 3 hour drive from PEI, I have to get up at 5:30 and drive 2 and a half to Moncton. I will at least listen to what they have to say. Stay tuned . Hahaha ;-)
Aaaahhhhh, I'm bored. What song was your favourite from the Halifax show ? I'm definitely thinking Not for You, although it changes from time to time. LOL...

for me it goes back and forth between In My Tree and Small Town.
Yeah, i know, Small Town is such an oldie mouldie (for the more seasoned concert goers) but i've always wanted to experience the HELLO on a grand scale, and i wasn't disappointed. i still get shivers...
Hearing In My Tree live, not-so up close but in person, was a re-defining moment in my appreciation of Matt Cameron's drumming.
Yes, another Pearl Jam show in the maritimes is required. Hali was my first PJ concert experience, and I spent most of the show trying to wrap my head around the fact that i was actually seeing them live. Instead of yelling and rocking out, I was kind of just like "I'm watching Pearl Jam play Hard To Imagine. Neat." I'm still not entirely sure it happened.

Welcome NotMike! It's never too late to join the cause!
I was in a similar headspace during the show. I think a lot of people were because for a sizeable percentage of people in attendence it WAS their first PJ show and hopefully not the last.
I remember when Ed came out for the pre-set and the first notes echoed through the Metro Centre. I looked at my brother (it was his first show too) and said something along the lines of : HOLY FUCK! Is this real? Is that really Eddie down there? WTF!
it was at that moment that i realized that miracles can happen and wishes sometimes do come true.
I have to throw this as an add on..I was talking to my buddy who lets me in on the concert news and he said that he was never given a date for the Stones.....and that he was told that the 23rd 'may' not be the date. So..all the opener rumors 'could' be true. Who knows. But he did say that he expects Monday to be the announcement. Be nice to finally hear something and get it out of the way. Im sure people would like to plan on the concert with more than a week's notice ;-)
Hopefully, they're not too far off with that date as I requested the 23rd as a vacation day and got it. Oh well, I've got tonnes of sick time saved up or I could use a mental health day!
it's going to be interesting to see what transpires over the next week. while i more than likely won't be going, it's always cool to see exactly who is coming and when.
Tomorrow's the day! (Tuesday)
Think we'll get some surprise openers?? I was actually surprised with the Moncton lineup last year. So, we'll see. I'm sure Halifax wants to make it special in their own right.....so maybe we'll get someone cool.

bring on the who!!! (and please dont be nickelback)
oh yeah & hey pearl jam play halifax again too !!!
Ok..so Im sure anyone who was interested about the stones already knows about the concert being officially announced. I was waiting to post the press release because I thought I was going to have some inside info on the openers and be able to post it before it was announced. Alas..I haven't got that info...but..anyone in the Halifax area can hear it between 4 and 4:30 on Q104 http://www.q104.ca/index.asp?ObjID=1387 (there's a listen live link top right and Im told the openers and any other info will be announced then). If I get anything before I will post an edit...anyways..here's the release from the stones...
EDIT: I won't be online..but supposedly they are talking to the promoter at 4:20 (ish, I am sure). Tune in if you so desire..and no..I don't have any clue who is opening. PLease..pLease..Please let it be someone cool. **Holds fingers in a cross and pictures Maroon 5**
EDIT2: No openers announced..will come out over the next couple of weeks. WTF?????!!! B@$@rds
07.25.06 The Rolling Stones Return To North America With 'A Bigger Bang' Tour
Kicks Off September 20th in Boston at Gillette Stadium Tickets On Sale Beginning July 31st
New York - July 25, 2006 - The Rolling Stones will be back on tour this fall for the North American encore of their multi-continent 'A Bigger Bang' tour. It will launch on Sept. 20 at Boston's Gillette Stadium, recreating the magic of their historic Fenway Park kick-off one year earlier. The Rolling Stones hold the record for the most successful U.S. and world tour in 2005 and have already been named the number #1 touring band in the world for the first half of 2006 by Billboard. The U.S. tour dates will be sponsored by RadioShack.
The Rolling Stones who have already played to over four and a half million fans on 'A Bigger Bang' tour will once again perform for fans in cities including New York, Boston, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Las Vegas. This time around, playing primarily stadiums with a select number of arenas, they will also travel to many new markets to give fans an opportunity to experience the band at their best. The stadium shows will bring back the awe-inspiring production and grand scale excitement with the intimacy of the famed b-stage that brings the band up close to the fans.
"We're very excited about coming back to the U.S. and Canada. Most of the shows are going to be on the big stadium stage with fans in the balconies behind us. We're going to play many cities we didn't get to before and also return to some of our favorite places," said Mick Jagger. "There is plenty of time for rehearsals and to be able to make some set changes - we'll have a variety of material ready so we can keep it fresh." Jagger adds, "Keith's fine, his heads better, he's playing well and enjoying himself so we're all looking forward to this leg of the tour."
"I thought we left too soon you know, so that's the reason we're coming back. I'm really happy that we got some more gigs in America and Canada," said Keith Richards. "I'm feeling great and can't wait to get there. We're going to have the b-stage to get that very close thing happening with the band and the fans."
The Rolling Stones will bring young, contemporary opening acts to the stage for this leg of the tour. Artists to be announced shortly.
"The return to North America is a celebration of the fact that the most enduring rock n' roll band of all time is feeling and sounding better than ever before and are ready to rock," said Michael Cohl, tour promoter. "The response from fans and reviewers to the recent shows in Europe has been amazing. To give more fans an opportunity to see the band we're lowering the ticket prices on average 10-15% and taking an additional off tickets for students."
"The Rolling Stones are icons of the music world, and we at RadioShack are excited to join with them as they return to the U.S. for their fall tour," said Tori Binau, senior vice president, marketing for RadioShack Corporation. "Many loyal RadioShack customers are also fans of The Rolling Stones, so what better way to thank them than by offering special opportunities tied to the tour in the U.S. And with more than 6,000 stores in virtually every neighborhood in America, everyone gets an opportunity to participate. There's no better way to start off the fall season than a "bigger bang" with The Stones & RadioShack."
There will be an American Express pre-sale beginning July 26 through July 30 in Boston, New York and Chicago.
Tickets for the public in New York, Chicago, Boston, Halifax and Regina will go on sale beginning Monday, July 31 and will be available at all usual outlets.
There will be a limited number of Gold Circle seats available while the remaining 90% of the house will average for stadiums and for arena shows. In most cities, students will receive an additional off tickets. (Current ID required). Buys will be limited to 12 tickets per person. Additionally, 200 fans will have the opportunity to be onstage with the Rolling Stones as part of the stadium set and share in the excitement. These seats will also be available at the time of the general ticket on-sale. For additional on-sale information check local listings.
Rolling Stones fan club pre-sale, hot seat and VIP packages for New York, Chicago, Boston, Halifax and Regina begins July 26 at 10am ending July 30 at 5pm. For Official Tour, Fan Club Presales, Exclusive Merchandise and more, visit http://www.rollingstones.com.
Every ticket sold for the tour will include a Virtual Ticket membership to RollingStones.com. 'A Bigger Bang' ticket purchasers are invited to enjoy unprecedented, behind-the-scenes content with the return of Virtual Ticket, the on-line tour companion the band introduced in 2002. Virtual Ticket allows fans to intimately experience the band on the road via streaming video and audio, exclusive photographs and concert set lists.
The U.S.dates for 'A Bigger Bang' tour will be sponsored by RadioShack . The North American leg of the tour will be presented by Concert Productions International and The Next Adventure and produced by WPC Piecemeal Inc.

sward, our god/guru of the inside track, any news yet on who will be supporting?
i think it sucks that they are announcing the supporting acts later because some people might not want to pay money for NickleCRACK or some other shitty band.
I heard the backup bands were The Black Crowes, JJ Cale, Matt Good and PJ. And in between the different sets, sweet sweet Anna walks around the stage like those boxing bimbos announcing the next round. C'mon, they're all whores except for ya mamma !! LOL. And she better shed a few pounds - I saw a recent photo montage of her and she wasn't looking up to snuff.

wow...someone put on his sexist cap today!
i wouldn't pay to see the Stones, but i would go down and find a nice spot outside the grounds to spread a blanket and listen to the show...unless PJ were opening. then i would pay.

Ya, me too. Seen the Stones already. Actually I'm not sexist at all. I was trying to get a rise out of someone, anyone, here. I'm bored, is all.
Saw them less than a year ago here in Moncton.. but you can count me in to see them again. What a good way to ring in my first year of university in Halifax.. fuck yeah.
