teflon steve, which cdplus are you talking about? the one at king's place charged me $14.99

i didn't have much choice in the matter of where i bought mine...cdplus was closest for me.

there were several people buying copies when i went to pick up mine. it felt weird...i am a dying breed among my friends, so the only contact i have with fellow pj fans is my brother who lives in halifax, and you guys, here online, so it was kind of cool to be around other likeminded people...even if it was for a short period of time.

Bought my copy today. First time i've listened to the whole thing (listened a couple times actually). Not terribly impressed. Found myself WANTING to like the album more than I actually did. Many of the songs just don't seem to come together. I hate to say this, but there's not a single song that blew me away. Kept waiting to hear the latest example of In Hiding or something else, and it just wasn't there. Many of the songs seem "worked over", and somewhat forced, which is often what happens when they don't naturally flow (is that why the boys took so long to make this album ?).

Also found myself liking the slower songs like Gone or Come Back more than the rockers - there's more to grab onto. WWS seems like it could have been made by PJ at any time over the last 15 yrs., and in any event, gets tiresome rather quickly. Marker in the Sand wasn't bad, and neither was Army Reserve - which was another slow one (wasn't it ?).

And oh yea, who did the lyrics in the booklet ? Wow, many of them are not even close. Almost every song had discrepancies between the song and written words.

    Certainly don't begrudge your opinion...but...

I think the cd is awesome...especially when comparing to the last couple of albums. Won't get into a song by song since a lot of people have done it..but I think this is the strongest collective of songs in a looooooong time and perhaps second to VS (in my opinion)..by the way....My favorite album is Vitalogy...but this one has a more complete group of songs. (again..IMO)

the more i listen the more i drool.

the more i drool, the more i drown.

the more i drown, the less chances i'll have of seeing them live again.

which is the lesser of two evils? ;)

i love how on the hfx thread people can give opinions without having their heads ripped off. see how truthmonger gave his opinion and sward comes back, states politely that he has differing views and that is that! no nasty exchanges.

see, another reason why PJ should come back...people play so nicely on the board that we deserve a treat!

    i'm grasping at straws now!

After hearing the new album, I definitely need to see them play Life Wasted live. I can see the crowd going ape shit on that one. Bring 'em back to Halifax, boi!

You know, after I wrote that I thought: ah, maybe that was a bit harsh. Listened a couple more times and I'm warming up to it. That's not to say I'm freakin' over the album, b/c I'm not, but it is grabbing me a little more. Anyways, those were nothing more than first thoughts on something that I'll listen to many, many times over the next little while. And yes, I do think its cool that someone can share their thoughts here w/o getting slammed by someone else. A sign of maturity perhaps ?

Herre's another thought: I found myself liking PARTS of songs, rather than the songs in their entirety. Anyone else feel that way ? Also, I'm curious to see what they're going to do with this stuff live. I was listening to the album and wondering what they might do with this song or that song. There are possibilities - especially for Mike since he wasn't given much lattitude on the album, or so it seemed.

And Lanners, I'm sorry to hear of your drooling problem. I didn't know you were a drooler.

    it's a pavlovian thing--i hear pj and i drool.

i'm with you about liking some parts of songs better than others, but i'm finding that the more i listen to it, the more they become cohesive.

i'm also very curious as to how these new songs will play out live because there seems to be lots of room for Mike to go apeshit.

so, when will we see mike go apeshit again? (truth, you stay out of this one...cuz i know you're going to see them before most of us on the east coast will ;)) I want a full report on my desk the day after the show!

i really need to NOT listen to Come Back at work. It makes me cry every time i listen to it! sheesh! i'm such a sap.

i'm also sorry if i'm coming off like Miss Merry Sunshine with all my hype and "we don't fight la la la." I re-read some old posts and man, i don't think i'd hang out with me if i met me. i think i would drive myself nuts. sometimes i just get excited and passionate about things and i get kind of animated and whatnot.

now...come to halifax or miss merry sunshine is gonna go POSTAL!!! ;)

the post Letterman show was off the feckin hook!

Now i have an even worse case of PJLIVE fever. Only cure is a hot live injection!

I am SO lucky i was able to listen to the Letterman show. There was a 7 sec visual display so i couldn't really watch it, but that was ok...the sound was incredible.

i nearly drowned in my drool again.

come back to halifax so i can drown. ;)

The letterman webcast was amazing....it's basically punching me in the face since I can't seem to find a show to make it to this year. Last year PJ did me a flavor by coming to Halifax..they knew that my wife and I just had a baby..so they took one for the team. Guess I just have to get her pregnant again to get em to come back.

Now it's my turn to take one for the team.

    Heheh

for me i was liking parts of marker in the sand and army reserve, especially the endings on both...now i'm starting to like both in their entirety...but i know what you mean truthmonger.

Wow, what's goin on here ? The Halifax thread has turned into a porn site, with people talking about "hot live injections" and dutiful procreation. By all means, sward, take one for the team ! Good thing that's not a team sport.

this is just one complete and shameless bump ..

in the year 2007 pearl jam will return to halifax..

i will be there to celebrate
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green
