I heard from the BDO camp today, Pearl Jam and Blur. Pearl Jam will have a 2hr set. Make sure you register at http://www.bigdayout.com for tickets prior to announcement on 31 July.

There should be a 10C amount of tickets though as well. Right?!

Don't see how 10c would be able to hold a pre-sale for BDO tickets.

I'm resigned to the fact that this is happening, so will make the most of it.

Maybe not a pre-sale, but they have an allocation to sell to us through lottery maybe?

I don't imagine there would be 10C tickets, not sure what the point would be...

I really am hoping this rumour isn't true. PJ 10 years ago at the BDO would have been a dream come true, but now.... I'm getting a little too old for the festival thing, and would much prefer a show by themselves, especially at the new Perth Arena. And my 65 year old parents, who are also massive fans, are also disappointed by the rumours!

I agree, it's not fair for the folks who either can no longer or don't wish to brave the crowds, heat and no seating.

Ah shit, looks like I'll be cracking open the glow sticks, fake tan, up my butt shorts and ridiculous sombrero after all.

I understand everyones qualms and I love a good Pearl Jam only show!

Maybe they are trying to find new fans? The new generation? Maybe this is their way of doing that?!

And they won't forget about us, they will have to come back to Australia soon after, maybe a late 2014 tour or early 2015 tour?

If it is true and they are on the lineup, but don't play sideshows I would be really disappointed. I have zero interest in going to the BDO!

    $$$ + easy to organise.

Which is fine - they've done the hard yards and don't want to tour in big stretches like they used to.

Yeh I had made that point somewhere earlier or in another thread, cheaper in transport, lighting etc to go with the festival than go it alone too.

I do understand why they have done it. Im just a greedy bitch who wants them to play their own concerts until they are in walking frames.:lol: I know, I know, it's selfish. I'll still make the most of BDO, who knows it might be a bit of a return to the good old days?

New fans, new generation, maybe, but also a good way to burn off a lot of original fans who are an older generation, who are a bit past the festival thing. And most Gen Y people I work with have never heard of PJ, and are probably a bit too naive too appreciate the awesomeness of this band and its roots.

Does Channel V still do live coverage of the BDO? I wonder if PJ would even let them film though? Probably not!

It would just be a way to still watch, but not have to overheat with a bunch of drunken teenagers!

I am Gen Y and an original older fan, granted I was 7 when I first loved PJ, thanks to my older sister and parents good taste in music :P

Where do I stand? I feel confused!

Big Day Out sucks and has for years. They cram as many people in that they can, over charge for every convenience and represent corporatisation of music at its worst.

    Didn't see Neil there.
    Didn't see Soundgarden there.
Won't be seeing Pearl Jam there.

Sorry, but if this turns out to be true, it is a major disappointment. I'm just one voice that means fuck all in the scheme of things, but I've got better things to do than spend all day being hassled my drunken and pill popping fuckwits who don't give a damn about anything other than their own inflated alpha male ego and are a danger to themselves and all around them.
