And it's not the guy's fault that he was detained for no reason, or that the cops held him back when he tried to step up and intervene with the dog. That part is actually what pisses me off the most.Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. It looks to me that the officer who shot the dog steps forward and tries to grab the leash/handle and then the dog lunged, why would you try and grab the leash? that's not going to stop the dog. There was one move to make, immediately let the owner subdue his dog, but since they had started his arrest it was inconceivable to them to do so( because they have to be in total control of a situation), a man who offered absolutely no resistance, instead he got scared and blew the dog away.0

I'm saying hi's an idiot because all he had to do was drive past the whole scene just keep it moving away from the area maybe park the car down the road and then walk back to film , how is it that someone else filmed the scene and that person didn't get arrested to me he made some poor decisions, not saying the dog deserved the bullets but the man def didn't use good judgement around the police ...jesus greets me looks just like me ....0 -

The Hawthorne Police Department paid One Million Dollars to a Settle Lawsuit in which it was alleged a man was kicked in the face while handcuffed and then falsely prosecuted along with his wife to cover up the brutality. Evidence the plaintiffs were prepared to present at trial included a photograph of an officer appearing to kick the handcuffed plaintiff in the face and a surveillance video allegedly depicting officers high-fiving each other as the injured plaintiff suffered from a broken jaw.
Same Cop, this is why the guy and a bunch of people in that neighborhood were filming the cops, it's the only protection a citizen has now a days. How much abuse can a community take before they say collectivly say enough.
Who would have believed Rodney Kings' story if there wasn't a video?0 -

He made a major MISTAKE by assuming that the dog wouldn't get out the half-closed window. He probably didn't realize the dog could fit through it, because the dog had never done anything like that before. I don't think that's idiotic. Just a mistake. And I would encourage people to film cops as often as possible if they want to.

To me, the dog was clearly lunging, and shot when it was up on its back legs coming at the officer. Go back and watch it, and pause as the dog lunges...
But you all raise another good point - there are WAY too many people standing all around for this guy to even fire ONE shot. He could've easily hit a bystander too - as I noticed there were folks on the other side of the fences and all along the sidewalk.for poetry through the ceiling. ISBN: 1 4241 8840 7

PJ_Soul wrote:I certainly do not assume that police officers' perceptions are the ones to necessarily be trusted when other people are weighing in! It sounds like you do?? If there is disagreement, trust the actions of the cops? I can't remember where you're from, but in Vancouver, I think it is now instinct to NOT trust the perceptions of the cops in these kinds of situations because they fuck up and show excessive force so often. I think it's safer for society when considering these kinds of incidents to NOT give the cops the benefit of the doubt. I am no cop hater. But I know there are a lot of issues with the actions of some cops, and systemic problems within police forces.
But really, I just can't stop imagining what would have happened if some tweeker had been showing the same level of aggression with this cop. Bullet to the head? I have no reason to believe otherwise.for poetry through the ceiling. ISBN: 1 4241 8840 7

From the videotape, both windows on the driver's side are fully down. From the 3:03 mark, you can see the dog is barking through a fully opened passenger side rear window. The dog did not have to squeeze through anything, the widow was fully opened.
The guy might have had all of his windows down, so the turned up music would be a distraction. You can hear the music blarring while the video is being shot.
He probably knew exactly what he was doing... creating a disturbance to drawn the attention of the on scene police.
...
A prudent civilian would have just driven past... maybe rubber neck for a few seconds... then, be on their merry way. The man put his animal in a bad situation and the dog paid for his owner's lack of sense with his life.

Totally agree. I love animals... well, except the ones that end up in my sandwiches, but those are the ugly animals, like cows and chickens.
But cats and dogs... and most other animals, love them. It's not the cats and dogs that are the problems... it's the people.
This is a perfect example of a person making a series of several bad decisions and his pet paying for the consequences.
