Thank Gawd the dude did not purchase a gun and start using it while yelling, "You killed my people." Think of how much worse it could have been with a weapon designed for killing?
The same end result could have occurred if someone had walked over to the bin carrying the baseball bats. Guy with knife vs. guy with baseball bat? I'll take the bat.
at the end of the day the guy saved people from futher disaster because he had a gun right ?

I'd concede that at the end of the day someone with a gun stopped some asshole from slashing away with his knife. You concede that a gun wasn't the 'critical' component that stopped the mayhem. A knife is a hell of a lot easier to suppress than a weapon which extends the killing radius.
It's a nice story for the gun promoters, but if this is as good as it gets for the pro gun crowd... it's not much.

please stop comparing of guns to things that they do not compare to, such as cars, alcohol, etc. the only thing guns compare to is other guns.
the dems should have advocated complete repeal of the 2nd amendment but settled for the limitations in that failed bill. that way the nra would have at least agreed to what was in that most recent bill, such as background checks and magazine capacity limits. they always place their end goal as what should be their compromise point. they did the same thing on health care.
