People who own their own business need to be positive people.

You take a risk a chance and keep on going. Bright side gets you through.
A positive outlook this we do not only for our own health  but for the wellbeing
of our employees and to promote faith and trust from our customers.

JB and I must put on a happy face even when we are worried, no need to worry our employees,
they have their own. Being partners we help the other to remain positive and get through
what the other is tackling at the time. Be that the money juggle, technical troubles whatever.

Our business is our life. I likening it to owning your own home...
how many are happy going back to renting? Not many.
It is fulfilling in ways those who don't experience it will never understand.
It is like a child, we are proud, we love, we will defend and protect.
And this goes for our employees who over the years have made it all possible,
they are a huge part of success.

We are typical small business owners, not special. This is how small business owners feel
and those who can only pay minimum to their employees do so because
they can not afford to do more and keep all employed and the doors open.

    +3.

And by the way... for all of the people here who have said.... because I direct porn movies for a living... that I "exploit" people....

Our performers get paid over $200 per hour. They get a per diem for meals, we pay their travel and hotels and treat them well and with respect.

Anyone who is saying that the people who slave away at places like Walmart don't deserve more than $10 per hour is no longer allowed to accuse of me exploiting anyone.
need some help? here's what i can do.

i can up & move across the country for a nice little gig
    i can write
    i can swim really good
i can enjoy a awesome boss
i can clean, cook & scare ppl who need slapped around
i never been a adult film star
i can do a lot of things including driving big huge things with 18+ wheels
and i used to sell drugs back when it was on

but one thing i cannot do is work for some cheap ass bastard who views me as a god damn number as i flip his burgers & chili smear his fucking hot dogs @ his (bullshit dream) hog stand

Being opposed to a $6,000 per year increase to someone's "minimum wage" does not make someone opposed to the concept of the minimum wage. That kind of an increase is extreme and should have been voted down.

Also, I have been and will continue to be critical of Libertarians. I believe their often rigid ideology is naive, utopian, and sometimes misguided. But they should not all be judged by the rantings and ravings of the followers of Ron Paul and his bouncing baby boy. That is unfair. There are many who do not deserve to be lumped in with that crowd. We should be able to disagree without thinking all who disagree with us are deranged ideologues.

mininum wage is just that. the MINIMUM that you can legally pay someone.

as chris rock puts it, "minimum wage says that i WOULD pay you LESS, but i can't."

Having a libertarian tell me I can't grasp economics is like having a Britney Spears fan tell me I don't appreciate good music.

You are funny and all, but you don't seem to understand what words mean.

But you're right about one thing... The more of your bullshit you spew, the more worthless you become.

You're such an Internet tough guy, and a typical crybaby that swears at people when they don't agree with his communist policies. I'm willing to bet that on your own, in person, you are timid and afraid. Go ahead and bully people on the Internet, lol.

i have a home depot 5 blocks away. i drive the extra 2 miles and go to the mom and pop hardware store. i get better service there and i can always find what i am looking for and get in and out in 5 minutes. this is not the case with the big box stores. sure i pay more at the mom and pop stores, but at least they can afford to pay their staff a respectable wage.

i have my guitars repaired at the mom and pop store. they do a better job, and they treat my expensive and vintage gear with the care and respect that that stuff deserves. not like guitar center who has a high school kid making minimum wage attempting to repair guitars. sure i pay more at the mom and pop store but they do a better job, and they pay their employees a respectable wage.

    Right.
And as a grown man, as a fucking ADULT, I wouldnt expect you to be working in the hot dog stand flipping burgers, for minimum wage. But the 18-20 year old kid who is putting himself through school, just might appreciate the job flipping burgers.

two different things... at the mom and pop music shop you are paying for expierience....at the mom and pop hardware store you are just over paying.

And Chadwick drove around on America's highway's in a Semi, until he was busted for driving under the influence of drugs. Losing is license, and losing his job. But at least people were no longer in danger of Chadwick killing them with his 80,000lb truck, loaded with hazardous materials.

Why do you feel the need to play the insult game with me today Chadwick?

There is no reason to get personal. Why must it go to personal with a very interesting topic. We are Bette than this.

Can someone who supports the 2.85 raise in the minimum wage answer this question...are there any negatives to raising the minimum wage that would be felt by those getting the raise?

    Well-said.

As to your last paragraph, I think this should (and does) apply to any and all parties.

    No lumping!

in the short term the minimum wage guy will feel good, in the long term, doesn't really matter...prices will jump and ultimatily, his buying power will be the same.
