Generally speaking - I think that Poles are more psyched when it comes to a rock shows, and a lot of them (us) think that pushing and moshing is the best way to have fun on a concert. Everybody can ask themselves if it's good or bad. The fact is that was my first show when I asked the security guys to get me out of the pit. And I was in the first row, which usually is quite safe as you have easier access to water, more air, etc. I could proably resist the pushing, the main problem was the bodies flying over my head. Last time I saw something like this was... Well, Pistoia was similar, but only for the first few songs. I think the last show I've been, with exactly intense mosh pit, was Katowice 2000 (the first night). And I've been of a few rock shows in Poland since then (White Stripes, Prodigy, few more)... Maybe it's only about PJ fans? I don't know. For sure I will go to the seatings next time the band will visit us. Unless they will come back to Silesian Stadium - then I won't go at all :P
P.S. A small sector near the stage could save the day... The lack of this was a huge mistake of the organisers.

well this is my first post here ,so bare with me:) i went to see the wonderful pearl jam last wednesday and i would like to say how much i enjoyed myself, the band are on fire at the mo.. and 45,000 for a mid week gig in poland is fantastic, i know so many peeps who want to go but could not take time off work,if it had of been at the weekend it would have been rammed.
I have been lucky enough to see pearl jam all over the world so getting the chance to see them in poland was amazing . The 10 hour bus trip..the coach driver who always wanted to stop to have a smoke(thats why it took 6 hours to get to the gig) ,getting drop off in the middle of the woods and trying to find are way back in the dark after the gig ,having to sit and listen to linkin smark...it was all worth it because i love pearl jam and i love the energy they carry with them... i had a very nice seat with lots of leg room:P right in front of the section of seating and yes when linkin smark came on the young fans did seem to want to stand in front of you but all you had to do was tell them nicely to f@$king move and they did :P .
i am sorry for the peeps who had trouble with standing..it seemed pretty mad from where i was sitting but i believe if you choose to stand you have to take the rough stuff i am sorry to say and i know it should not be that way,oh and i would love to know why ten club did not offer its fans seats?? there were v.i.p tickets on sale on live nation ,surely ten club members are v.i.p???....well anyway thats all from me..all london jammers have a blast i wish i was there to join you..

Why, oh why it was more comfy at other shows? Could be hundred of reasons, the most important is standard statistics - if something bad happens to you once - it's an accident. If it would happen frequently - it would be either your reeeally bad luck or statistically normal behavior. I was at the show, had a backpack with me (couldn't leave it anywhere), I stood somewhere in the first 1/3 of the crowd. I was pushed (mostly by foreigners), people where going in all directions around me. The most rude people where some British, without their shirts on, almost running through the crowd, and stoned/drunk. But I know that not every British person is like that .
And yes - if you going at the rail, you need to know that a rock concert is not a theater. It is not comfy. NEVER. It's not about manners. Physics would do as an explanation.
As for the concert - It was my first PJ, it was great. I had to travel 10 hours (no sleep), wait 5, than travel 12 home (no sleep, totally squashed). It was worth it - the emotions are unforgettable. I'm sorry for everyone who doesn't feel the same.
Sure, when I look at setlists, Chorzow's is one of the shortest. Something was wrong, I think it's not curfew, and that the PJ's management is to blame (instead of flying to Venice, they could've stay in Krakow/Katowice).
BTW - have a look at an average rock show (no band in particular) from US (video) and Europe/Polish - I don't know about you, but most of US shows seem like people came to the show only to see and listen, not to feel. The people barely clasp, "sing/scream", jump, or whatever other sign of feedback.
If the person on the stage jumps, clasps or whatever, why can't/shouldn't I ?
The main problem wasn't the fact that it was so hard to stay in the first rows - the problem was lack of respect for other people, rudness, guys trying to get to the first rows by pushing away people that were already there, guys crowdsurfing with military shoes - that sort of things. Then again, it's not that "there were 40000 people there, so of course it was hard in the first row" - that doesn't justify anything. Did I have to remind about Rosklide?
I'm with you here. While they were playing Corduroy, security guy was trying to pull out some guy from the crowd, cause he was crowdsurfing. He had some boots on, and yeah he was of course kicking all around and I've got a big kick into my head. Well I have to admit that there were some moments I couldn't breath cause of the crowd. Well I survived. And in spite of all it was fucking amaizing.

The crowd was very very violent. I saw at least 8 people pass out, 3 of which could have been professional bodybuilders. Personally I believe the layout of the security barriers was a big factor, the crowd does need to be split, because at the end of the day, we're talking about people's safety here.
Also, once I moved further out to the side it was amazing, I could hear the band perfectly, dance and generally have a great time.

Awesome gig, really cool stadium, but 10club organisation really poor again! Queued for 3 hours for tickets (one person in the booth!!) no real order, people shoving to the front. Then no wrist bands! Or even a reserved 10 area at the front. Fair enough its a big venue etc but whats the point of 10club other than first shout on tickets? (Especially when u could get tickets on the day!!) Prague last year was just as bad - arrive at 1pm for tickets, no one got a clue, finally get to queue at 4pm, and everyone got in together!! You'd think they'd learn! Next time i'm gonna buy my tickets from distributor then I don't need to hang around all day and instead can get on with serious business like drinking!
Met some really cool people though - The Cockney and his wife, 2 cool Polish dudes I shared a couple of beers with in the queue and a bunch of Aussies/Kiwis! Big hello if you're reading this!
Gig was awesome though and the Poles were really up for it - the main reason we went to Poland was cos of the 'You forgot Poland' t-shirts we saw all over Prague last year. Wasn't dissapointed!

Still there are a lot of things deciding bout quality of the show.
This concert was great, very enthusiastic crowd, the show was very energetic, Eddie seemed to be more hmmm Alive? Even thou it was short and there were only a few rare songs it was really outstading.
I only saw London show on youtube and for all I've seen but I'd prefer Chorzów...

London had a longer setlist, a full-house fans, some pearls in the show
but I have to admit that Katowice was a little special BECAUSE its imperfection.
Still didn't understand the reason of this mid-failure (lol) but the sensation it is that it was a real event.
And the setlist was very very aggressive (more than london)

short but sweet, cracking set list. crowd was rough, but i won't go on about it, as everybody else has, i just moved back 15 metres and enjoyed the show.
Also i was interviewed by polish TV before the show, the aussie flag is getting me places this tour. before the venice storm, i was photographed for an italian newspaper
