none of it really, the residential area wasnt THAT close to the stadium, and i strongly hesitate that they would use the cannos in case pj played an hour longer. thats complete bullshit.

I wasn't claiming it as gospel, calm down, so bright spark, why was it then?

curfew, curfew.... U2 played this stadium exactly two years ago, gig kicked off when the sun was down already and they finished up around midnight... which obviously wasnt the case with PJ, finishing at 11pm.... hmmm strange really. guess boys were really tired from the munich show, which really kicked ass. but thats just a speculation. god knows. they know!! :)

Maybe U2 played on a friday or saturday?

Sometimes it's not the question to stop or to continue and pay, sometimes ignoring the curfew just means 'electricity off'. Happened for example to Faith No More at a festival here in Germany in 97...

    i just got home...
it was fantastic show!!! Hearing RVM as opener just blew me away... then Animal and Hail Hail . ... what more I can say. Fans went nuts... PJ was on fire.. I had to admit that Eddie was on during the whole set.
The highlights of the concert were Nothingman, Jeremy, Even Flow, Black and Indifference. Seemed like everybody was singing with Ed who was apparently having fun.

His contact with fans was great, talked in polish, he seems to enjoy everzy time they are in Poland. He called us as his friends, which was really nice, he also mentioned that they will be back. Let us hope it will turn out to be true.

But now.... fucking curfew!!!! Why did they have to finish at 23 00!!!!! The set lasted only 90 minutes!!! It must have been one of the shortest set for a long time.. We waited for them to play in Poland for so long...40.000 came to see a regular set, not only 21 songs!!! It was so unfair

Although the concert was briliant, I am really dissapointed by the lenght of the set. After reading the songs that were skipped... I wanted to kill somebody!!!

Hope that the declaration that would come back to Poland turns out to be true. I cannot wait to see them again. We deserve for more!!!!

It was my third PJ show and again it was one of the most important things ever happened in my life.

i was there, had to take a day off, so definately working day then. Hmmm, guess wont be too hard to find out if this curfew was the real reason. I could understand that things go strict in Germany, but Poland...?

The opening was rediculously amazing.. RVM-Animal-Hail Hail, wow.. Crowd did indeed go crazy haha!

Although the setlist was short the choice of songs (and order) was nothing short of amazing I think.. Although it was my first (but surely not last) PJ concert I'm pretty sure this was a very good gig.

F*** LP and Coma for playing too long, the organisers for not doing their job, the police for the curfew. I would've loved to hear RITFW, Sad and Alone especially :( with the original setlist this show could have been (even more) over the top (than it already was...). Oh well, next concert I guess. I just couldn't believe it when the stadium lights went on after Indifference.. I was half expecting (read: hoping) to hear the opening riff from Alive or Yellow Ledbetter while walking out of the stadium... If only.

Nevertheless, amazing job PJ with the restrictions that were imposed upon them. What an awesome first PJ concert to have gone to, love 'em.

sorry if i sounded harsh that wasnt my intent. i apologise

if i should be honest i wouldnt blame the curfew only, altough the fact certainly played a part in shortness of the set. the thing is that we all know that when pj wants to play longer set they do (LATG for example), and i think they could do it this time as well. the reason? if you knew poles like i do (im from slovakia and study polish for 4 years at university) you would know that they are kind of laid back "relax" nation just as we are. so if a band is playing an hour past curfew they wouldnt do a big deal out of it. maybe they would give them a fine (not very high - certainly not higher then in MSG) and forget about it. the reason i think it would be no problem to pay it, is the fact that there was more than 40 000 people in attendance, so they definitly wouldnt bankrupt. during the concert eddie mentioned that he didnt sleep after munich gig and was tired and couldnt sing well (i didnt notice it, he seemed in a great shape last night, just as the rest of the band). i dont want to blame him or anything, hes only human after all, but i think this also played a huge role in why the concert was so short. no one during the show mentioned curfew and i think that if that would be the sole reason they would do it. whe know that ed speaks his mind when he wants to and says what he wants and feels no matter the concequences. so at least he could say "sorry for the short set, but theres nothing we can do about it" but he didnt and that leads me to think what i just said.

    just my 2 cents

    Apology accepted :)

Ed did say "We'd play all night if we could, there's a reason we can't..." when he started about talking about coming back

It must have been curfew, why else only do 1 song in 2nd encore??

Honestly I think there are lots of things going stricter in Poland than in Germany, just look at the situation of gay people (and I'm not talking about their position in society which isn't that good in most parts of Germany either but about state issues). Anyway, doesn't belong here...

Just speculation, but it really could be that the regulations for events in this stadium have changed since two years ago and, even if it's not in a residential area, sometimes stadium sounds can be heard over long distances. Could also be that there has been issues with the authorities before so now they follow a strict enforcement policy. The point is: I think the band had a really good reason to stop and they would have played longer if it would have been possible. Maybe it's true that U2 spoiled it, maybe it's just a question of contracts.

Since this is fanview thread and it's reserved for the people who actually attended the show (which I didn't) I will now get out of here. Maybe one of the locals knows more and let us know...

I thought there were no show specific posters this tour? That could be the reason.

There was a poster ... I saw the last one sold at the merch stand and missed out :( i really liked it.

It was a tree with a squirrel sat underneath it ... but rather than having acorns to collect the tree was growing grenades. Very muted colours.

Wish I could have got one ... favourite one for a show I've been to.

Speaking to people who were in Munich there was also a poster ... different but also with a tree on it.
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?

yesss I think the same... Ed seemed unsatisfied by the fact they had to finish eariler. What a pity.

We can now only imagine what songs from original setlist they would have played if they had started playing at 21 00, cause I doubt just half an hour would have been enough to play all skipped songs...
  • I got the poster. Looks really good. Mines is totally creased as i bought it before the show started but i had to make sure i got one.

I was same after my first show (Astoria) that started late too :( and you do feel cheated by songs that you miss but don't think there was anything they could do this time...

apart from not play Katowice a day after Munich in future... :o

Some were options so I think we would have got most of the original setlist... which is a shame because at most of the missed ones I haven't heard live before... Alone, Ghost, Release, RITFW, Hide Your Love Away & Not For You would all have been firsts...

    Great show.
Short set, but the choice of songs more than made up for it. Never dreamed of seeing Leatherman and Nothingman in the same night! Would've been kicking myself if I didn't go. Talked to a few first timers who seemed slightly disappointed in the setlist, which I guess is reasonable, it wasn't exactly a 'first show' setlist.

Personally I thought Linkin Park were much better than I expected. I went in with an open mind and was entertained, can't ask for more than that. The crowd weren't exactly friendly, quite a few polish people seemed to be glaring at me and my friend, was a bit strange. Katowice isn't exactly the most picturesque city... but the stadium was nice. The trams to the stadium were HELL!!! Footie fans shouting annoying songs for aaaaages til I bottled and walked the rest of the way, never seen a tram so packed. Took way longer than expected but got to the stadium just as the band before LP finished so no major loss.

Got the poster, the red tshirt of the guy with a heart (it is a heart right?) and the army tshirt... except I ended up selling my army tshirt to someone at the airport (Some irish guy called Rob). They couldn't get one and since I made the mistake of mentioning I was going to 5 shows this tour he guilt-tripped me (In a very polite way of course). Oh well, I'm no worse off and just means I'll have to get one at another show, done my good deed for the day.
