Driving a car is not a right, owning a firearm is. I'm not registering my rights.

So what are you going to do when Chicago gun crime stats don't drop?
will you give us another example besides chicago? chicago has always been fucked up. it has always been violent. it is hard to enforce a gun ban when the gangs are the ones trafficking the weapons and the guns are the same ones the police use. add to that, the "don't snitch" culture that pervades inner city chicago makes crimes impossible to solve.

So you admit that more gun control laws won't stop crime. We finally agree.

seems kinda cheap on your part.

well its all moot anyway. If any gun owner has paid with a credit card for their weapons, guess what, the government can and would find out what you own whether you were registered or not.

i did not say that. i do not agree with you at all.

good thing there is a democrat running chicago or you would not have anything to complain about because it could possibly be a libertarian utopia....

sorry but that was a joke, because libertarianism has barely caught on in most major rural areas, let alone a metropolis like chicago.

people like you are the problem.

common sense gun legislation is not an option for you. it is not open for debate. you are one of the 10% of gun owners that do not favor background checks. 9/10 of all gun owners polled support background checks for all gun transactions. you are lining up with the nra, the very same organization that came out against a un resolution to keep 2/3 of the "axis of evil", north korea, iran, and also syria from getting their hands on some serious firepower. if i were in the nra i would be embarrassed by their leadership and their clearly bullheaded position on that issue.

i never would have thought that you would be anywhere near the lunatic gun nut fringe because you are too smart for that.

i guess i am surprised by something every day.

Or....you could educate everyone in the house about the gun therefore making everyone safer. But I do agree it should be locked up. Or at least have a trigger lock on it.

    Haha, sorry to disappoint you.

I'm not a member of the NRA. In fact I cancelled my membership. Why? Because they compromise. The NRA wrote or indirectly supported all federal gun control legislation. Federal gun laws are unconstitutional.

I'd be for better background checks if there was also a ban on creating a database for what people own. I do not support any rifle ban or a ban on full capacity magazines. That doesn't solve crime. Do something about Chicago gun violence, otherwise you are only punishing the law abiding.

And no libertarianism would never, ever, work in Chicago. People would have to care about each other and those animals don't.

The point is we are law abiding citizens. The government has no right to tell us what they think we need for protection. It's none of their fucking business. They can pass all the gun laws in the world. Ain't gonna change a fuckin thing in a crazy persons head.

I love ignorant statements like this.

We're the world police that invades on a whim, we have a banking system that is designed to steal from those that aren't ultra rich, our unemployment numbers are really in the high teens, we have an all time high amount of people on welfare, we spend so much that we have to borrow from china, our government allows companies to grow GMO products and use chicken poop in cow feed, we have no manufacturing, we have broken infrastructure, we have 12 million people here illegally, etc.

But following the Constitution is what's wrong. Ok. :fp:

ah, the condescending name calling. I predicted this before I even posted. following the constitution isn't wrong, the fact that such a ridiculous thing is IN the constitution is preposterous.

it's a fundamental flaw in the collective american brain. your paragraph above proves it. you have all these fucking disgusting things going on, and people still hold onto their guns as if it's their last breath. "I don't care that our economy is in the toilet, but making anti-gun laws on a federal level is going too far!".

Most of them get it, Hugh. Some simply refuse to accept or understand the simple logic behind some efforts to make their country a better, safer, and warmer place to live. It's not so much a case of priorities for the country as it is needs for the individual.

The arguments against gun control are weak. I still don't think that pro gun people truly believe things like they need to be ready for when the government tries to get them. I think the arguments put forth are the best ones they can muster though because there are no strong points of contention that would give a logical person pause before pushing for gun reform. In the face of a heavily weighted argument against their beliefs, the soft points in retort are offered so that... people can simply preserve their desire to shoot really cool guns. It's narcissism to me. The stream of comments such as, "Don't punish the law abiding citizens" would lend support to my assertion.

I get it though: If someone wanted to restrict or ban something I loved doing I would not be too happy- but I might be able to at least understand why the change effort is occurring (say, for example, 11,000 gun deaths per year... or intermittent national tragedies). Here is where I would suggest for people to lay their cards on the table. Just say, "This is bullshit. I freaking love my guns and I love shooting shit. I don't care for the reasons behind gun reform and it pisses me off that other gun users killing people with their guns are wrecking my good times shooting shit!" I would have much more respect for this statement than, "The government is just waiting for us to concede our assault rifles so they can get us!"

Pandemonium prepared ... savvy people take steps to make themselves
and their households more self reliant ...
good common sense just in case or if and when.

Clueless people think their government will take care of them in a crisis.
Why would they ever assume that :?
