Three people were killed and several others were injured when someone on a boat opened fire on patrons of a waterfront eatery at a North Carolina marina on Saturday night, officials said.

The boat paused in front of American Fish Company at Southport Yacht Basin and a gunman opened fire, said ChyAnn Ketchum, spokesperson for the city of Southport.

Southport Police Chief Todd Coring said "possibly six" injured people were being treated at hospitals. Details on their conditions were unavailable. The city initially said eight people were injured.

The three people killed were not publicly identified early Sunday.

The shooter fled toward the adjacent Intracoastal Waterway, Ketchum said. The boat may have been headed toward the neighboring community of Oak Island, where authorities were continuing their investigation, Coring said.

A person of interest was being questioned late Saturday, the police chief said.

So your theory is that they told their stooge shooter they’d help him get away with it, and if he got caught, Trump who was president yet and the man he just tried to kill, would just pardon him. Even Charlie didn’t believe that. In his quote of being worth it, he says it’s worth some lives (not all the lives we are currently loosing) and adds we should reduce school shootings and in other places. No one thinks it’s worth all the lives currently being lost.
Where I disagree with him is how we reduce those numbers and that I’d give up all my guns if it would eliminate all gun deaths.  But it wouldn’t. I disagree with him that the 2A is needed to prevent a tyrannical government. Private guns, even the ar-15, won’t matter against an advanced government with air support, tanks, etc.

And that’s just the tech we know about. Militaries are common sources of technical advances only brought to the public once it’s effectively inevitable. If anyone thinks they could have an upper leg on them - they should probably think again.

I don’t think so. He was paraphrased as saying it’s worth all these lives. That’s not what he said or implied. In that same statement that is often quoted he says we need to reduce the number of shootings. It wasn’t a 2A is worth it at all costs type of statement.
He says it’s impossible to get gun deaths to zero (I agree with that), and that the 2A is worth “some” deaths. He doesn’t define what some is, but talks about ways to reduce it, so it’s clear he thinks it should be fewer than it is.  I disagree with his methods for reducing it.

I disagree that it’s worth even “some” for reasons I said above. Armed citizens don’t stand a chance against an advanced government. 200 years ago they did. But if we can reduce our gun violence to where it’s comparable to other countries, I wouldn’t say it’s “worth” it, but rather that we’ve done all we can and taking away the 2A would have minimal effect on reducing it farther. But we’re no where near that point yet, so I think it was stupid and insensitive of him to talk about what it’s worth. But he never said it’s worth all these lives.

Hundreds of people were inside The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township when a 40-year-old man rammed a pickup truck through the front door, then got out of the vehicle and started shooting, Police Chief William Renye told reporters. Police believe he “deliberately” set the building on fire.

After the suspect left the church, two officers pursued him and “engaged in gunfire,” Renye said. The man was killed.

Flames and smoke could be seen pouring from the church for hours before the blaze was put out. First responders were then sifting through the wreckage.

“We do believe we will find some additional victims once we find the area where the fire was,” Renye said.

Police said they did not yet have a motive for the fire or shooting. Investigators are searching the suspect’s residence in nearby Burton. Authorities did not provide any additional details about the suspect, including whether he was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, widely known as the Mormon church.

President Donald Trump said he was briefed on the shooting. In a social media post, he applauded the FBI, who local authorities said are sending 100 agents to the area, for responding.
