This guy is now dead because of things he said. IMO that cannot be justified, and certainly shouldn't be celebrated. In effect he died, and his kids will grow up with their father because someone got all bent out of shape over words. I just do not see how that can ever be acceptable, or something to take pleasure from.

Like some of you, I don't know a lot about guns but I have to think that a 200-yard kill shot to the neck is pretty elite. Like my co-worker that hunts several types of live game could not do that and nor could a vast majority of actual police, military veterans, and gun enthusiasts. I could be totally wrong because I'm totally ignorant on guns but that seems like the four-minute-mile of shooting.

Its a hard shot for sure if you hardly ever pick up a rifle.  If you practice it's makeable.  We used to do this with other shooters at out door ranges all the time.

Like any skill if you practice enough you become proficient.

At least one Republican politician gets it.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox got emotional Wednesday as he delivered a message mentioning recent attacks on both Democrats and Republicans.

"Our nation is broken," Cox said. "We've had political assassinations recently in Minnesota. We had an attempted assassination on the governor of Pennsylvania. And we had an attempted assassination on a presidential candidate and former president of the United States -- and now current president of the United States. Nothing I say can unite us as a country. Nothing I can say right now can fix what is broken. Nothing I can say can bring back Charlie Kirk. Our hearts are broken."

When I think of that in terms of:
    -2 football fields
    -elevated
    -open air (accounting for wind)
    -kill shot target
    -single opportunity

Even not knowing much about guns/hunting, that’s a pro.
To give you some idea from my perspective. I only go target shooting 2-3 times a year, used to be a little more often.
I do a lot of plinking with a .22. I feel pretty confident hitting a bowling pin with my .22 30-40 yards out with just the iron sites. I've only shot a scoped sniper/hunting rifle a couple times and was able to hit small fruit and a matchbox car at that range, maybe al little farther (took a few shots to hit the car).
I wouldn't imagine anyone aiming for the neck, so the shooter was probably a foot off target. At 200 yards, being a foot off target, if he had a good scope and low wind, and good position, I would think an average hunter or average hobbyist with a little experience could make it. But it's not someone who went out and bought his first gun last week.

Cutting and pasting could well be the same if the content of the post is nonsense or potentially misleading. The fact is the internet is absolutely chock a block with nonsense. Its not even possible to really rely upon anything as fact when stated on the likes of Wikipedia..and especially places like Facebook Reddit Instagram. People regularly mis contextualise statements made, and of course twist things to suit an agenda. That is fairly common place.

I'm long enough in the tooth also to know that many things are said in a certain context, and when removed from the bigger picture and analysed as stand alone comments they take on a whole new life of their own.

That really wasn't the point of my post anyway but I guess you decided to focus on just that to disregard the rest. Whatever, but as I say the point being made wasn't about what Charlie did or didnt say - that wasnt relevant to what I was commenting on which is this guy died because someone didnt like what he said. Or should I say, that is how it appears on the face of it until the guy is caught and questioned

Thats crazy, assuming you are right and he was a foot off target the chances of missing the target and hitting someone perfectly in the neck on the jugular must be very slim.

Everywhere I look there is an undercurrent of people revelling in his death - in every thread on social media there are laughing emoji, comments about him getting what he had coming, snide remarks and it goes on and on.

In the immediate aftermath of the death of a young man, guilty of nothing but debating things openly to all who wanted to engage, a father and husband and these reactions are out there in plain view and numerous, well that speaks volumes of the kind of world we all live in.

    Pathetic.
    He was pathetic

    list of his views:

Charlie Kirk’s Top 11 Most Heinous Statements & Remarks (documented & reported):
     1. Said gun deaths are “unfortunately worth it” to preserve the Second Amendment.
     2. Called transgender identity a mental disease, needing “brain treatment.”
     3. Refused to use people’s correct pronouns: “I will not call a man a woman.”
     4. Demanded a nationwide ban on gender-affirming care.
     5. Quoted scripture about homosexuality as an “abomination” deserving death.
     6. Called Martin Luther King Jr. a “myth” and said the Civil Rights Act was a “huge mistake.”
     7. Promoted the “Great Replacement” conspiracy theory.
     8. Spread COVID-19 misinformation likening masks and vaccine mandates to “medical apartheid.”
     9. Suggested mass incarceration as a fix for the housing crisis.
     10. Advocated for public, televised executions even for children to watch.
     11. Dismissed Black competence and made demeaning statements about Black women:
He claimed that Michelle Obama and other supporters of affirmative action “lacked the brain processing power” to understand arguments on those policies . He also made undermining comments toward Black pilots, saying, “If I see a Black pilot, I’m gonna be like, ’Boy, I hope he’s qualified.’” .
Clearly a cut and paste job from Instagram or similar and I have no desire to fact check this or research the context anything was said within. I'm old enough to know and appreciate that the internet is very good at making shit up and twisting things. But that really isnt the point

Regardless, everyone is entitled to their view. People do not have to agree or disagree with anything. I believe one of the vital freedoms everyone demands these days is to that of free speech

This guy is now dead because of things he said. IMO that cannot be justified, and certainly shouldn't be celebrated. In effect he died, and his kids will grow up with their father because someone got all bent out of shape over words. I just do not see how that can ever be acceptable, or something to take pleasure from.
Yes. Clearly a cut and paste job. Quite suspicious though if one would be of the belief that those things are outside the realm of things that POS would say/believe, and need to muddle things with "hey, things on the internet...". What does ockhams razor tell you?

Also. Not caring if he's gone is not the same as celebrating a murder.

I also, don't see why a de facto nazi-dad would give a better net outcome on young kids than not having a dad. So the best thing, would be a Charlie Kirk who's alive but without his piece of shit racist belief system, or a really good stepdad coming in who doesn't have a piece of shit racist belief system and the kids feeling that "dad is such a whacko. We researched the contexts of what he believed, and yikes".

I don't think nazi dads are a good thing for kids to be around. Maybe you do. To each his own.

    Garbage
Should be noted that the comment above comes from someone brought up in a country that still allows beating of children.

    For context.
"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"
