again... if i were a parent my kids would not be going to school any longer. we'd have to figure something else out, home schooling or something, private schooling, something, anything but this.

how about requiring all parents to take anti-depressant drugs and having armed federal marshalls in every classroom... im sure we can figure out a way to administer the drugs like we administer flu shots (free on every corner) since the flu shots rid of us the flu
sure... im for armed federal marshalls in every classroom. if that is what it takes, so be it

I don't think there is any explanation for stuff like this. We appear to be pretty numb to this stuff at this point. So much daily killing and anger blasting us in the face from behind our keyboards. So much hatred of things we don't understand. So many guns. So many wars. Humans never seem to change.

I don't usually wax political here, but we need some real leaders not sponsored by Pepsi or Nike.

Oh my God, this is just AWFUL. :( :( :( I cannot begin to imagine what the parents of the missing or dead children are going through (and even just any parent of any kid at the school, not to mention the families of the staff) - my heart really goes out to all of them. What a horror.

It seems to early to turn this into a debate - that should come when we know more about what's happened and what's up with the shooter. Also, this is not an American symptom. These incidents happen in Europe and China too (surprisingly often).
    With you on this.

I don't feel that people are numb to this stuff at all. I think we are all completely horrified.

It's hard to make words. Those poor families. I feel like throwing up. Or crying. Or both.

I wish I knew what to do to fix this. How do we monitor or recognize people with mental illness? What should have been done with that Va. Tech shooter? His family knew he was mentally ill and they allowed him to go off to college. And he was able to buy a gun.

Sometimes prayers for the families doesn't seem like it does anything at all. But I'll still do it.

So, he killed his dad in NJ, drove to CT to kill his mother and took 20 Kindergarteners with him? Good lord. Why don't these people just kill themselves and leave everyone else alone?
