imagine if obama wins again. it was bad enough to some of these backwoods racist "conservatives" the first time. if he wins again a million heads are gonna explode.

these things go in cycles. it is a numbers game. romney's message is not resonating with voters so he is unlikely to win.

if obama wins are we gonna have rioting in the streets or just another 4 years of bitching, whining, and false accusations?

i agree with mickeyrat. i would rather have someone in the oval office who is pragmatic and able to see all sides, not someone hotheaded like romney who will rush to judgement and attack without having all of the facts like he did in this libya situation :fp:
It may actually be really way more positive if Obama wins this time around. For his first term, the number one goal for Republicans was to stonewall Obama at any cost in order to keep him from being reelected. But since he can't be reelected this around, perhaps they'd actually stop stonewalling and think about what's best for the country again, while just finding their next candidate.... on the other hand, maybe they'll just keep trying to sabotage the presidency in an effort to ensure that their next candidate doesn't lose again. :? Yeah, that sound more right somehow.

IF that woul dbe the line of thinking and course of action, they would surely lose again. Its already been seen that they are sitting on their hands while engaging in political theater. Approval ratings for Congress are lower than for the President right now.

It serves their political interest to find a means to work with this Pres should he be re-elected. I beleive he will be re-elected.

either way i have the feeling that the mods will have a busy job election night and the days following... i can imagine a whole slew of silver squares if obama wins and people start saying how they REALLY feel out of frustration or anger. if he wins i will understand the opposition's anger and frustration. i survived 8 years of gwb, they would survive another 4 of obama..

probably because those were representatives of the american government on figurative american soil and they were the closest americans they could find....since the maker of the movie was a coward and was in hiding at the time...

what makes what they did with lumping americans together any worse than what some of you are doing lumping all muslims together in this very thread??

You two just don't get it, do you? By 'they', you mean 'muslims'. 'Muslims' did not kill those people. Individuals did. You love to use the ol' "guns don't kill people, people kill people" line, but fail to see how much more applicable that line is to religion than gun control.
No, godfather doesn't have a point. And I explained why...but why bother to debate my opinion when you can just ignore the other side, right?
I asked you pointed questions at the top of page 16 and you ignored that as well. Why should I humour you with a response then? I will anyway. I asked where you were getting information about the murders. The news reports I've read state that the ambassador's death was more like murder in the third degree (unplanned), than the first. But you might as well ignore that too.
As for motive, you'd have to assume intent...doing so, my response to PJ Soul at the bottom of page 15 addressed that. I will add that, viewed from the 'other side', a US ambassador is not some benevolent bystander. He is an architect of NATO's mission in Libya - pretty obviously a target to people who view their presence as imperialist in nature. I doubt he'd have made it out alive, even if he didn't die of asphyxiation...but with the amount of conflicting information being circulated, it's impossible to know exactly why this happened. My point is that you don't know that it was a religiously motivated attack.

The people who killed them probably do lump all Americans together (although attacking US diplomats is not a random killing of Americans. If they wanted to do that they could just attack a tour bus on its way to the Pyramids). But they don't represent all Muslims.

I would imagine it's because none of us or you are about to start burning and killing or inciting violence or risking war over it. For the record, for me, it's not what is said that matters at all. It's the consequences of what is said that matters.

A news report made by the Libyan Free Press is also reporting that Ambassador Stevens was sodomized before he was killed:

Will Obama stop campaigning and handle this tragedy?
aerial trusting a Lebanese news source? edit: wait....sorry, a Lebanese source, citing a French source.
All of the reports I've read state that he got separated from a group during evacuation and got lost, dying of asphyxiation from a fire. Not sure how they could have sodomized him in that situation. Maybe it's just obama lying to confuse us. Can you clarify your statement about them flip-flopping on the film being the reason behind this? Have they publicly claimed both sides of that opinion?
My source was the news stations.

When people on here insult my God I don't see you calling for respect then. Why?
I would imagine it's because none of us or you are about to start burning and killing or inciting violence or risking war over it. For the record, for me, it's not what is said that matters at all. It's the consequences of what is said that matters.

It would be nice if we had respect for all people not just the ones your afraid might go kill people....

    Huh?

I'm not really sure how this applies at all.

It would be nice if all people or their opinions were worthy of respect. There is nothing noble about respecting something that isn't worth one's respect. We all have the right to express our opinions, but where anyone got the idea that all opinions ought to be respected is beyond me. But in any case, respect has nothing to do with the treatment of this situation. It's simply a matter of being diplomatic in order to avoid chaos.

it definitely applies... our freedom of speech does not apply across country, cultural, and spiritual lines....

and let's be completely honest with everyone on the forum.....laura, aka, hippemom, would not appreciate your use of her beloved and most hallowed screen name to advance your position on the issues of our time...

based on my numerous late night conversations with her i think she would have something to say about that....
