Yep. And developing highways that aren't two-way would cost at least double the time and money, and use up more space. It is strange that they make non-emergency cars that can go faster than 100 miles an hour though.

I've explained that is both those who own a gun and those who do not.
It is about having a plan of protection whatever means one chooses.

Someone asked me and I answered how I saw fit it was a personal question.
Most importantly has nothing to do with why I am in favor of the second amendment.
I will not take away someone else's right to protect themselves whether I own a gun or not,
which I guess is different than many here but not all. I have seen others with like mind
and know many out in my real world.

Really that would be pretty dumb... no I'm saying if we cannot always rely on police,
in more ways than one, oh and the 911 service too, we must be prepared to handle
crime that comes to us ourselves.

What are you saying here? Is it that guns are important to defend dogs or that guns are important to get the upper hand on a cop who appears to be twitchy?

Being a cop is a lot tougher than spouting rhetoric from a keyboard. I'll begin by saying I hate dogs. After one neighbour's 'family dog' attacked my son in our yard- leaving him to be treated in a hospital- I have very little patience for them. Stopping there, I would think that cops have several encounters with dogs while trying to do their dangerous work. I would think that dogs can pose a significant threat to them as they work their way on to and through a scene. If a dog appears hostile in the slightest, sorry, but I am all for them erring on the side of caution.

I think very highly of police officers. Very highly. I know first hand what they face
and my daughter may very well be a CSI soon.

I am sorry you base the actions of one dog onto all dogs.
Is this rational? And will this be carried through to your son?
Did you consider it was a human fault for the dogs actions?
Not properly caring for and training are key in being a responsible owner.
Love, affection, exercise, so many factors important for a healthy dog in
temperament and body.

This particular officer though carrying mace and a gun chose the gun
to use on the mascot of our up scale neighborhood.
An extremely friendly dog loved by everyone.
It was a mistake, clearly one I'm sure after the fact was regretted,
though no apology was forthcoming to the young man who grew up with his dog.
His dog died in his arms.

I do see your point, here in Atlanta many very bad humans have made dogs who threaten.
It is a sad situation for all. Awareness is taking hold though and responsible pet owners
are turning this around. I hope one day you can give your heart back to a dog.

I think cigs are a much bigger problem because of sheer numbers of course.

from smoking that started in their teens and carried on for 50 years.

I think cigs are a real danger to our children because so many are still choosing to get addicted.
Don't see too many children addicted to buying rifles illegally on line

Parents would be very negligent to not monitor their credit cards or bank accounts
their children use.
So again enforce the laws we have, punish adults who are providing
and allowing gun possession

There are vastly more responsible young hunters and target shooters
owning a rifle with their parents knowledge who are safety trained
then any escaping through the cracks.

alcohol doesn't cause DUIs. People drinking alcohol irresponsibly cause DUIs. And no...I've never seen a gun lead to teenage pregnancy, unless you're using *gun* as a euphemism

We don't want teens drinking, and so there are restrictions. There is a clear law in every state against underage drinking of any kind of alcohol. Parents should monitor that too, but we don't put all of the responsibility for them for that. Liquor stores help enforce the restrictions. I'm 38 years old and I have to show 2 forms of ID to buy wine, but a 16 year old can buy a gun online.
