I'm waiting until closer to the show when the lineup is announced and then I'm going on StubHub or another secondary site (I'll probably get sensored for this) to buy a single-day pass on the day PJ is playing, if possible. If not, I'll be on the beach enjoying Labor Day Weekend and I'll get over it.
I will, however, hold out hope for a pre-Labor Day PJ show at either Borgata or Revel in Atlantic City. And I will pay top-dollar for either like I did in 2005 at Borgata. That was the coolest venue I've ever seen PJ at since I missed out on all the small venues of the early 90's. I was 15 feet from the stage, standing room only with people going nuts moshing and crowd surfing like it was 1992. That was a fantastic experience.

What makes it wrong? The seller determines the price of their product. The buyer decides whether the product is worth the price.
just seems a shady way to start your relationship with the customer. then why not be allowed to scalp tix if the price is not fixed and its supply vs demand etc? I am not saying its apples and apples, but i think the price should be set and fair for everyone especially if you are all sitting with each other.
Can anybody from TenClub shed some light on this? I know this is a festival and it's not being run by Pearl Jam, but this seems like a really underhanded move on Jay Z and the organizer's part. It appears that they said, "Okay, let's see how demand is for the $99 passes and if they run out quick we'll charge $135 with no further explanation!"
I would bet that I'm one of the biggest capitalists and fiscal conservatives on this board, but even I think that this is a dirty move. Especially with no explanation and no indication that the $135 gets you anything better than the $99.
I would really like an explanation.
Why do you say it's underhanded? All the announcements have indicated that the $99 for 2-day passes were limited. I suppose you could say "limited" is up for interpretation and it's anyone's guess on how many were designated as $99 and maybe they just jacked it up as they pleased, but that would be pure speculation. Ticket info is laid out here, and yes, prices go up a few times more: http://www.madeinamericafest.com/ticketing.html
All the festivals I've seen so far have had the cheaper tickets if you get them early and when those "run out", the prices go up. This does go up a few steps which seems like overkill to me, but to be fair, the final price of $175 for a 2-day festival seems standard.
All I ever heard advertised anywhere was the $99. I guess I could have done more research, but I think the price points should have been clearly explained on the Ticketmaster website where the purchase was being made.
Well, I take back the "dirty" comment if it actually was explained somewhere. I think they did a bad job of making that clear and it seems like the announcement of all the other price points were kind of last minute.
I don't hit up a lot of festivals, so I guess I didn't understand that this is the norm.

For the record, I fully support scalping tix . Yes, the people who do it are douchebags, but there is no justification for banning the selling of someone's own property.

I always go to the source for that reason. In this case, I see the source as the Made In America web page/facebook page, TM is just the vehicle to purchase tickets. I don't think people intentionally deceive, but I do agree TM should have posted more info.

Yeah, I didn't really research it. I heard $99 and nothing else, so I was very surprised and confused when the $135 popped up. I was traveling on Monday when they made the announcement and then had a "catch-up" day at work yesterday after being out Friday and Monday. Didn't have time to really look into things. But I definitely think there should have been some kind of note on the TM page.
Anyway, a buddy just texted me and he bought 8 passes at the $99 price-point and one of them is for me!
I hearby take back all of my negative comments directed at Jay Z, festival organizers, and human beings in general. See you all at the show!

total bs seeing a bunch of shitty performers. Hey PJ your fans dont enjoy hip-hop ganster acts lol. I'm just going to sneak in. Its dirty philly by the art museum. Should be a breeze with all of the people. See everyone at the show:)

Some hip-hop gangsta fan is on the Jay-Z message board right now saying "Hey Jay-Z, your fans don't enjoy alternative rock acts whose peak of popularity was more than 15 years ago lol."

true, but I bet they add some at least one other rock act for before PJ .
while I would like to see JayZ, if he is on not playing the same day as PJ and the 2day pass is two separate tickets, I will probably sell my JayZ day ticket.

There should be a troll smilie
I'm not a troll jack... I've been around alot longer than you and been to way more shows going back to 2000(best tour IMO) I just dont wanna pay 170.00 to see PJ I can handle 100 but when your buying 3 tickets it blows 470.00 to see 1 band (that I love) at a shitty festival with no other interesting bands. I think minus PJ this is the worst festival for 2012. I would rather go to the Newport News Folk festival then pay that kinda money to see PJ around all the riff raff that will be at this show supporting the other hip-hop acts. lol

lol, well I have been here longer than you and would like to remind you that no one is forcing you to buy any tickets. Its not like you live somewhere PJ never plays and have no choice. I am not even from philly and I have seen PJ there 8 times in the last 6 years, lol
I swore off the festival scene several years ago. . . . however, a good friend who is in a tough relationship w/ two kids told me @ the beginning of the spring: "I need a road trip this year, I'm due." He's a Jay Z & Skrillex fan, and really interested in seeing PJ after hearing me hype them; I'm interested to see Jay Z & Passion Pit & Skrillex so we said 'F@#* it, let's go"
We got the $135 tickets, and are looking forward to some good QT buddy time (5.5 hour drive) & some new interesting music.
While I don't want to settle for PJ in a festival setting, it will suffice until next year when they come around again. Plus, this is likely the only opportunity I will have to share PJ live with one of my best friends who appreciates music as much as I do (just not the same bands, something about our friendship which I love)
(which reminds me, to all the people bitching about no headlining US tour / dates. . . . they will be back next year. People here seem to act like PJ will never be touring again and they will never have another chance to see them..... they will be back!)

Congrats on being around a long time and seeing a lot of shows and still trolling. You're not going to sneak in.
reading this thread makes me feel so diverse musically and i am glad i can appreciate things instead of just looking for something to bitch about.
I am i the only one who completely loves the diveristy of this show. Diverse music = a diverse group of people = what America is allegedly built on
I am starting to see a thought pattern among the ignorant people here:
People are threatened by being exposed to new genres
Every act besides PJ is a rap/hip hop act
All rap acts are gangsta rap, and tbey will attract " riff raff"
Sad that people would rather see Mudhoney for the 20th time as opposed to being exposed to a DJ who has the ability to unify 50,000 people with some heavy beats!
