Sad that people would rather see Mudhoney for the 20th time as opposed to being exposed to a DJ who has the ability to unify 50,000 people with some heavy beats!

It's not dirty at all. $135 is still a good price and well worth it.

you really think $150+ (with fee's) is well worth this lineup for only 2 days? the best part is they still call that "early bird 2" pricing???

i would take a look around at the other festival lineups and cost before calling this well worth it... almost all major festivals are 3-4 days and are right around $200, with MUCH better/deeper lineups, which makes $150 (going to $200 eventually) for this 2 day festival look not so hot in my personal opinion

PJ solo is like 80 a ticket -- Jay Z solo is probably similar. I am not saying that this lineup rivals any of the major festivals but i certainly dont think it is an unfair price.

This does go up a few steps which seems like overkill to me, but to be fair, the final price of $175 for a 2-day festival seems standard.

$175 for a 2 day festival with only 2-3 "major acts" is not standard... most festivals are 3 days, and most have much deeper lineups, and most are right around $200... so this thing is crap for $150+ in my opinion

i love hip-hop, but most hip-hop or DJ acts do not have the live drawing power of traditional rock acts, so they tend to not be considered major draws for concerts... for example, when is the last time you saw a hip-hop stadium tour? jay-z is pretty much the only major rap act that can sell arena's or ampitheaters on his own. someof the biggest rap acts of the last 20 years barely fill 2000 seat theaters when they tour. meanwhile rock bands fill arenas all summer long, and sometimes stadiums (Bruce and Roger Waters this summer off the top of my head)

rap fans buy digital singles, rock fans buy concert tickets

i think thats a bogus argument... festivals arent about adding up all the acts, or major acts, getting full price as if it were a solo show (if that were so festivals wouldnt exist), firefly festival is about 1 hour from philly... here is the lineup... add up what it would cost to see each band... this is a 3 day festival with timed ticketing system (not this limited bullshit) currently @ $198

I know the prices of other festivals so I don't need to look around. I'd rather see this festival for this price than the one you posted for $198.

You are making a judgment, I would argue the pull of Jay-Z and PJ is enough to justify $175. We don't have to agree ;) Folks who think it's ludicrous just won't go, those who are willing will go.

If anyone has read and watched what Jay said, is that this is Phase 1. He wants it to be like the '85 Live Aid benefit. He's going to drop clues and have people try to figure it out, etc. etc. IDK, you either go or you don't. People need to get a grasp on life here. What if we sat here and bitched and judged all your decisions without knowing the full story?? :fp:

yeah, if you think a band like the Roots are filler. As the previous poster stated, this is only 'phase 1' that has been announced. I'm not expecting Springsteen, but I think there will be significant artist announcements in the coming months, and even as is, the current lineup is well worth the price. If it was only one day and the lineup consisted of Janelle Monae, Jay-Z & Pearl Jam, i would feel more than compensated for my purchase.

I can't believe it's pearl jam fans of all people who are bitching about the price of this thing. I was shocked that i was able to get a ticket for $99. that's a steal for what is being offered here. I paid around 85 bucks to see eddie vedder strum an acoustic guitar a couple years ago, and i'm sure a lot of the complainers in this thread did the same thing. you wanna talk about over-paying for a show, look no further than the ev solo tours.

i was just trying to put it into perspective - i got tickets for this at $114 each. Also i dont think any of the bands mentioned above are on the level of PJ and Jay Z and lastly a portion of the proceeds are going to charity so...... whatever - we can agree to disagree.
I wasnt able to make Roo this year and was pretty bummed about it -- this certainly eases that pain :D

Pearl Jam did not completely change their sound to reach a new audience, and come off as cheesy because of it. They are playing alongside talented bands in other genres of music.
