Not to sound rude or anything, but I Keep who I vote for private, and as such never ask others how they vote. I like to discuss politics and I will say I am not affiliated with any political party. I take great interest in who will be representing my riding in Parliament, not just the party .
So I will be voting for the party/leader/candidate who has the best shot at getting in who isn't conservative. Although I would prefer that candidate be from the NDP party, I'm not married to the idea.
And make no mistake, even if you don't live in Harpers riding, a vote for a con is still a vote for Harper. It's his party. If you think any backbencher has any power, you are sadly mistaken.

I do not take voting lightly. I do my research and that includes the "backbencher" or "cabinet member" or "opposition critic" who will represent my riding.
Meaningful political dialogue is never engaging when someone is simply "anybody but so-and-so" in my opinion.
My vote will be educated, based on party platform, history, and local representation. Of course the leader is important, but as I have said in a previous post, none of the, are inspiring. Therefore, I am going to dig deeper.
Whether a "con" a "lib" a "socialist" or a "tree hugger"0 -
Are you boosting your thread count by posting here or are you pissed off that the writing is on the wall that Canada is going to have another majority Conservative government come Oct 19th?dignin said:Here is a hint at who I won't be voting for

You are just as clever as the Conservatives, keep up the good work.

Any former Conservatives not voting for Harper?
Someone please give me some hope ... when this failure of policy continues to be supported by people who choose to believe in partisanship over accountability - we're just fucked.
Frig ... I get that the Conservatives never cared for Global Warming or the Environment and that has gone to shit but weren't they supposed to be the "Economy" party? Massive defecits, lies and fraud is all the Conservatives delivered. I told you so would be an understatement!0 -
How come you keep it private? I know a lot of people have this attitude about it, but I never understood why they feel that way. What exactly are you trying to hide? Your political views? If so, why?1ThoughtKnown said:dignin said:Here is a hint at who I won't be voting for

Generally speaking, a person with 2100 posts, who joined the board over a decade ago probably doesn't care much about boosting their 'count'....Which is good cause if a person had, oh, say.....3k+ posts in like oh, say....six months, a lot of it would be attention seeking fluff, trolling, or in those awesome 'what are you doing right now' type threads the AET became all about a few years ago. I've never understood exactly what it is that drives a person to compete over post counts....but I'm pretty sure dignin isnt the type.PJfanwillneverleave1 said:

man, I'm so tired of the Con attack ads against Trudeau. My radio or tv is on for a total of about 1 hour a day and I hear them at least once or twice per day.
"he's just not ready'.....mentioning legalization and saying 'he's got some growing up to do'.....managing to throw ISIS into the ad....
They say 'he has some growing up to do', then end the ad with the sound of a hair blower??? Fuckin seriously? They make fun of his hair while telling him to grow up?
I am no liberal supporter, but the Cons reinvent new lows every fucking day. Harper just makes my skin crawl.0 -
I totally agree those ads are ridiculous. They love to chop out bits of a sentence and then replay it out of context in a way that is beyond deceptive (the one that really gets me is where they have him stating that "the budget will balance itself." That's it. It's idiotic. There should be real rules about this. Political parties (let alone the one that is ruling the country at the time) should NOT be allowed to use blatant deceit in their ads. Straight up lies. It's fucked that they can do that. It's fucked that they'd WANT to do that too. Because they are so bad, I seriously doubt that anyone with an IQ above 75 is falling for them.Drowned Out said:man, I'm so tired of the Con attack ads against Trudeau. Not sure, but marketing gurus swear attack ads make a big difference. But then, fuck marketers too
Could be empire building for their industry. Maybe an IQ of 75 is too much to ask for. I just saw a story on CTV this weekend saying the ads are the reason the Libs are last in the polls. (meanwhile, the NDP continue to surge....although the 'Mulcair owes you money' angle is going to get terrorist-attack-like attention from the PC's)
You're right, there should be laws against it. Not even just against blatant deceit - tell them they can only talk about themselves in their ads. Tell us YOUR plans, not how the other guys will fail.0 -

He is kind of doing it the trump way or vice versa (however you want to look at it)
The other guys are losers, dumb and not ready. (in the pcs' view)
Very effective and powerful - albeit childish, it works.
Justin truly is not ready.
Mulcair is just a guy that is there somewhere doing a political thing.
Harper, well, he is harper.
Edit - I wonder why Justin ended up cutting his hair? I mean its just hair right?Post edited by PJfanwillneverleave1 on0 -
If the cons win another majority, I'm moving to the states.
Ok not really...but if they do, we will get what we deserve. Your post reads like a 'lesser evil' argument, and the conclusion is Harper? *shudder. Trudeau prob isn't ready, and is a fool for saying no to a coalition...but he's not Harper.
I really don't care about trudeau's hair. If he cut it over the ads what does that prove? That he's a PR conscious politician? Maybe the libs should counter with pics showing how Steve-o literally resembles a cock? Or laughing at his Lego hair? Keep posting that pic of him with chad Kroeger? Fuck the 'it's childish but it works' attitude: I expect more from my public servants. I haven't heard much in the way of attacking the ndp...and look at their numbers rise as the libs sink...and that's the thing. The majority of Canadians are waaaay more leftist than the government representing them. Election numbers prove it. The left needs to vote strategically in their ridings. If the parties can't get their shit together to get Harper out of office, we need to organize and do it ourselves....yes, no matter who that means governs.0 -

I live in Elizabeth May's riding. She's running again, but at this point I'm not sure who else is running in our riding (my fault for not bothering to check yet). She won handily in the last election but time will tell how things go this time around. May has been recognized as a hard working MP but that press gallery speech may weigh her down a bit. And, of course, the Greens are not going to be leading the country anytime soon.my small self... like a book amongst the many on a shelf0
