Did the NYT come up with a new one - White Hispanic?

no they didn't. On some forms we must fill out we have a question about whether a person is hispanic or not, and a question about race...unless the NYTs creates the CDC's documentation forms for HIV testing, no they did not come up with it.
I don't know how a person can be white hispanic, but those who do seem to think it is an important distinction. Just another group to divide us into for some reason.

George Zimmerman, Son of a Retired Judge, Has 3 Closed Arrests
Did George Zimmerman have help from his father, a retired judge, in clearing his name in three separate arrests?

That’s the question that’s being asked now that more information on Trayvon Martin’s 28-year-old killer is being revealed. Robert Zimmerman, a former Orange County magistrate judge, recently wrote a letter to The Orlando Sentinel defending his son, who’s been dragged through the mud for shooting the unarmed 17-year-old last month. In the letter, the senior Zimmerman asks people not to jump to conclusions and insists that his son didn’t follow the young boy home as he walked through their gated community.

“He would be the last to discriminate for any reason whatsoever. The media portrayal of George as a racist could not be further from the truth. At no time did George follow or confront Mr. Martin. When the true details of the event became public, and I hope that will be soon, everyone should be outraged by the treatment of George Zimmerman in the media,” wrote Robert Zimmerman.

Now more info is being dug up on his “victimized” son through public records and revealing his checkered past.

According to a records search on George, he was previously arrested for domestic violence, resisting an officer without violence and most shockingly, resisting an officer with violence — a felony charge that surely could have landed him in prison.

All three of those arrests, however, were mysteriously closed with no semblance of charges for the Florida resident.

no it's up to Obama how he checks his boxes off on the census...this basically shows how stupid it is to break people into racial categories and that race is entirely a social construct. at the same time people live in racialized ways.

stupid... really ? I too would like to see/live in a world where race is not an issue but I think you should step outside that dream world you have created and take a look around.. people are proud of their race and with that comes seperation of races and it will be a looooong time before people truley understand that we are all the same, you with your "black kid" comments saying "godfather" said is a perfect display of seperation and putting yourself above me and others on the train, look before you leep young man. ;)

I don't remember seeing in past posts, but

did Zimmerman ever identify himself to Martin that he was the neighborhood watch when he confronted him? Does Zimmerman wear a uniform and/or does his car have identification that he's part of the neighborhood watch? Did he approach Martin with an attitude?
If a stranger just comes and rolls up to me and gives me shit, I probably would have given it back.

But if Zimmerman did say he was the neighborhood watch, then what happens afterward is "he said, he said". Again, if Zimmerman came at him with attitude, isn't a 17 year old going to give it back? maybe, maybe not. Only Zimmerman truly knows what happened, because the other person can't talk.

As they say, it's not always what you say, but all about how you say it that makes a difference.

in any event, the police bungled it and Zimmerman should have been charged because he was told to stay in his car and he precipitated the events that happened.

Or, as it seems, the police did it right and the states attorney decided there wasn't enough evidence. But people continue to blame the police and jump to racism.

I think the police bungled it in that they closed the case very quickly without looking at the shooters background and doing a drug/alcohol test on him. They did it for Martin, but not for the guy who killed him?

Do they give those tests to the police after a shooting incident?

Looking at his background, could give an indication if he was a prone to violence and losing his temper. The police told him to say away from Martin, and he took matters into his own hands. They should have charged him and let a jury decide.

And I'm not saying racism is involved- between Zimmerman and Martin- I don't think there was.

Is this more a conceal and carry case more than anything else? Because I believe if Zimmerman didn't have a gun he would probably would have just got the living shit beat out of him and Martin would be alive and maybe charged with battery.

what makes me skeptical about his "version" of the story is that he outweighed martin by quite a bit and he has a history of violence ... and guys who are wanna-be cops generally aren't gonna get beat up ...

So police leaks are saying the shooter was walking back to his car when he was attacked by Martin and Martin was going for his gun...
All makes better sense now huh train?
Not really just skittles and iced tea if he is beating a man and going for his firearm.

Size doesn't always matter in a fight. Zimmerman was bleeding when the police arrived, so he had obviously taken a few hits. That doesn't automatically mean that he wasn't the aggressor in the fight, but it does show that an advantage in weight doesn't automatically mean you're going to win a fight. His history of violence is against a woman who--I would assume--was smaller than him and shorter than Martin. He may have resisted an officer with violence but that doesn't mean he "won" the fight or even landed any forceful punches. For all we know, Zimmerman's a big sissy who carries a gun because he knows he can't fight and the gun makes him feel safer. The wanna-be cops, wanna-be Marines, etc. I've encountered were always the ones who got the crap kicked out of them. I knew a kid who was like that and tried to brag about how he got beat up in the locker room during gym class as if that proved he was tough and he walked around acting like a big tough guy, but everyone made fun of him because whenever he ran his mouth and got knocked around for it he had no idea how to defend himself.

If a strange guy was following you and you saw he had a gun you wouldn't try to get it? He was fighting for his life. Zimmerman instigated the confrontation by following him. Period. If he listens to the police operator then Trayvon is alive today.

A 6-1/6-2 17 year old against an overweight short guy? I will take the 6-1 17 year old that is pist off someone is following him and confronts him. I was 17 once and thought I was unstoppable. You put a gun in the mix and that all changes. Wanna be cops usually end up getting their ass kicked. That’s probably why he didn't make the force. Probably uncoordinated fat guy.

6'3" 150 vs. 5'9" 220+? I'm pretty sure even an uncoordinated person with a 70+ lb weight advantage would both be able to withstand fists, and impose will at that point. Unless Trayvon was trained to fight this is literally no contest. Seriously, go try to fight someone with that weight advantage on you. For me I'd have to go find a 260+ lb dude and even if I knew how to throw down I don't see myself winning.
