here is a guy who has had sex with his wife only 7 times trying to tell all of us how to live...no thanks...

if he has had sex purely for pleasure or with a condom or has pulled out and prayed only one time since he bacame a politician then he is a hypocrite and is a sinner...

Pandora, for Santorum it has nothing to do with children. It has to do with people doing things that conflict with his own personal beliefs. Politicians need to stay out of the bedroom.

He is running for president of ALL people, not just the fundamentalist right. And yes, he is a serious candidate.

once people really feel this and teach it to their children we may have a fighting
chance to change sexual violence that is increasing.

But a mindset must be changed first.
i disagree with this...sex can be a union of love and is often more enjoyable that way, but it can be pretty fucking awesome just as a release, one-night stand, whatever...and i don't think believing this leads to increased sexual violence. given the sexual abuse perpetrated by the clergy could a similar argument be made about denying the body of that release leads to horrific human behavior?

Pandora and Santorum & the right wing can believe whatever they want to believe about sex, but they have no right to enforce it upon the rest of the population. Nobody's taking away my Skinemax!!!;)

Porn is pretty trashy overall... I still don't have a problem with consenting adults making pornography. I couldn't care less honestly. You can't deprive people of their rights.

I think that's the most important point here- Santorum is basically supporting censorship- a dangerous move. Most porn is pretty much trash but no matter what one's personal opinion is about it, there's no place for censorship of consensual sex be it the act itself, film, writing or image.
But there is a lot of censorship of filmed, consensual sex already. The US has much more strict regulations on porn than European countries. There have been a few court cases over the past half-decade or so based on obscenity charges...Showing the wrong bodily fluids landed one director in court. One director got a five year prison sentence for selling underage roleplay porn in the wrong state.....all involved consenting adults. I don't remember free speech advocates outside of the porn industry having much to say about this. Some in the US have had a stick up their ass over porn since the early days of Heff and Flynt...yes, the boundaries keep being pushed....but that is more about porn catching up to the bedrooms of middle america, and expanding it's market base, than breaking new ground or pushing the envelope. That is pretty much impossible to do. Some people actually DO do this stuff with their partners, and have for millenia. Yet there are already many sex acts and roleplays that do not make it past US censors.

The thing with Santorum's stance here is that all he needs to do is widely publicize some of the more out-there, fringe porn, to which the religious right, in all their sheltered glory, have never been exposed, and these people will be taken so far from their comfort zone that they'll be falling all over themselves to support him in a bid for further censorship, and intrusion into their neighbour's bedrooms.

I think we can in our society find good common sense that will bring a world
that is less of a danger to our children.

Our children are hurt by the choices the adults are making.

pandora you didn't respond to my question...by your logic should we start censoring or banning religion since it leads to children getting raped? or at least come to some sort of consensus on what is too religious to save our kids? i mean we've got clergyman raping kids now what's gonna happen next?

It is true entire religions are being held accountable for just this
and people on their own are banning with their actions and loss of faith.

I am sure many here would like that to happen and perhaps have felt it should
    for the children's sake....
we may have even discussed this in the past

I might not disagree with that either.

Realistically what you speak of would probably happen before porn though ;)

if we've learned anything about viagara and cialis prescriptions is that many humans would place sex as more important than anything. so yeah take my god away but don't take my sex or ability to watch it away is probably about right.

porn stays. santorum goes. and i am not even into porn. it is a thing called free speech and the like. adults are perfectly capable of posing nude for camera or film and it is that simple. adults are perfectly capable of buying porn and it is that simple.

if he wants to bad hard-core porn he best be wanting to ban certain music.

whoever this guy is, he is definetly not the brightest dude in D.C. and or politics

porn is here to stay. if he and his people don't like it, to fucking bad, others do. you can not ban pornography because you believe it is terrible, Santorum. what you can do is not look. close your eyes and go home.

Ya know, politicians that run on the moral platform usually have a gay lover hiding somewhere, or other scandalous secret he's hiding...

yep, i agree. with his claim of being such a paragone of virtue and trying to legislate morality....one can't help but think he almost has to be hiding something

he still needs to stay out of an adult's choices to look at porn

wouldn't doubt he likely has a HUGE porn collection himself...and some lil teeny weeny thing

But this ... this is complete nonsense.

I caught the word "illegal" pornography in the article. If he's talking about films with children, animals or anyone against their will, then I'd agree. Otherwise, leave it be!

I used to watch a fair amount of porn awhile back...not so much anymore; it just doesn't tittilate me like it used to. But hell, if others want to - I say have at it.
