Never heard of this. Can you post a link?
That's banning CFC's as a propellant, not banning inhalers. (zip it up, your bias is showing)0 -

Who cares? And what are you talking about with the latter portion?
I used an example to say that banning items (which all Presidential administrations do at some point) does not put the head of the administration into a "extremist" compartment. I disagree with Santorum and think he's got issues. But, I also think the term "extremist" is inflammatory, and honestly unnecessary. They guy is obviously not a serious candidate.
I said, instead, why not focus on the issue rather than name-calling. In Santorum's case, there's a lot of "issues" to poke holes at here. Why cast him as an extremist and fire up those who support him? Instead, focus on the issue where the guy is all over the map.
But, if you feel like changing this into a thread on what was banned and by whom, go ahead. Here's a new demo called "in the fire":

In other words, in order for gay marriage to go forward in certain states, laws need to be changed, right? So, someone who votes "no" to change a current state law and permit gay marriage is an extremist?
I don't know, I think people have a right to their opinions and a right to their vote. On the other side, they could just as easily cast a supporter in opposition as an extremist.
In other words, you could have two people directly opposed to one another on a political issue calling each other extremists. What good does that do?
well ... but one side is showing intolerance in this instance ... it's not completely accurate to say that the opposite view of an extremists viewpoint is also extreme ...
this is where critical thinking comes in ...
Well, I think most in direct opposition to your stance would side closer to you, if this was handled ever-so-slightly differently. As is, I think the other side would respond to you saying that their opposition is also intolerant, or atleast disrespectful of their beliefs. They would probably say we have had this term marriage describe a particular relationship between a man and a woman for thousands of years - it's tough to depart from that so quickly. Tolerance, on the other side, would be acknowledging that, and seek to move forward gaining what they want (legal rights, and the monetary privileges associated) with respect to that. So, why not move forward with something similar to marriage with all the same exact benefits, but rephrase the word ever-so-slightly out of respect for what has been and what people are use to? Personally, I've never understood why complete and total common ground couldn't be found by both parties here, if each were willing to budge ever-so-slightly.
Sometimes there's a lack of respect on both sides.Post edited by inlet13 onHere's a new demo called "in the fire":

Hasn't he won as many or more states than Romney, even if the delegate math is not on his side? Sounds like a "serious candidate" to me. Anyone who supports laughter should support Rick Santorum getting the GOP nom.
That, and could you imagine what Romney would think if he lost... To Rick Santorum?Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V0 -

I agree with this. When the GOP debates started, there was a reason Rick Santorum was all the way on the wing. He was one of the least likely to win. He's a politician who lost his last election and is, pretty much, only known for his religious pandering. There's nothing wrong with being religious, but if that's pretty much all you're known for in over 10 years in the senate, you probably weren't too important.
I'm betting the John Huntsman's and Tim Palenty's are kicking themselves when they look at the remaining crop (they could have really challenged Romney). Here's a new demo called "in the fire":

How about this thought. Santorum has some pretty extreme thoughts (we all might) but as a leader he won't be able to implement all or any of them (See: Obama). However, the republicans see this election as a pretty big uphill battle not because Obama is super-popular, but because the top 4 people they have running are named Newt, Mitt, Santorum, and some old codger with crazy ideas based on a novel (can't remember his name). As such they are going to thrown some people out their to shift the discourse to the right (as crazy as Santorum is he's connected with some people). Therefore if they win this time great, but if not, they've moved the general publics discourse further right and when they have your run-of-the-mill white, male, country clubbing Republican come up in 4 years he'll be able to say "hey I'm not extreme like that crazy Santorum, and I'm more electable that baseball glove" so vote me. Boom Republican president and 8 years of...
I dislike the GOP but they sure know how to get things going their way.0 -
My guess is this is just another tactic of Sanitarium's to gain attention.
