Had an opportunity to listen to the new album a few times, and it's amazing. Standout tracks for me are D.C. Sound Attack, The Face and Wolf Man. Really solid album; up tempo (except for Gone Cold, which is still a good song).

I get to see the guys for the 52nd time on April 13 in Grand Rapids. Best touring rock band there is, hands down.

Oh, Isabella is kicking my ass right now...another epic story in that one. The verses paint an ominous picture, and that guitar tone in the solos is incredible. And of course, the chorus:

'Oh, Isabella, your ship's run aground
kneel at the sword, scream at the clouds

Oh, Isabella, there's smoke on the wind
Jaguars and fever have taken your men'
    24 years old, mid-life crisis
nowadays hits you when you're young

I know a handful of songs and saw them once in '04 i think. They played the Troc with cky for the cky4 release party, it was pretty cool. Clutch was decent as well. Should start listening to more of their stuff i suppose

So Newbury Comics have taken out the money for the signed cd and Amazon UK have delayed the vinyl order by a couple of weeks. Won't get to hear Earth Rocker on Monday when its released and I'm not downloading it - waiting for either the cd or vinyl to arrive :D

The new album is solid, as usual...def a big step up from Strange Cousins....not as heavy as they hyped it to be - to me it's classic Clutch, just more uptempo than the last couple records...Overall, the album isnt my fav lyrical effort from Neil...I think Earth Rocker, Crucial Velocity, Cyborg Bette, and even the Face have some moments of cheese to them, and I've never felt that way about his lyrical quirkiness...it doesnt take away from the songs too much, but...I dunno  still, there are def some great songs here, and they're all growing on me with every listen (and I've listened to it a LOT already). Crucial Velocity's chorus is stuck in my head all the time...love the 'step on it' lead-in to the solo :D
Book, Saddle, and Go, Unto the Breach, and DC Sound Attack! are my favs so far. Wolf Man is playin as I type this; rips. One thing fer sure - all of these songs are gonna sound fuckin deadly live.

Bought 'Strange Cousins...' on vinyl a few months back but only listening to it for the first time tonight. Did not realise the tracklisting is completely different to the cd version. The packaging is awesome.

    I nominate Heisenberg ;)

Clutch's fb page mentioned today that Earth Rocker is #1 on the itunes rock chart, and #4 overall...
Not surprising - Clutch has a pretty dedicated following....curious to see if it falls off fast since all the diehards prob bought it right off the hop.

Clutch opening for Pearl Jam would be immense. I don't think people would know what hit 'em! They'd certainly be a better choice then X or Ben Harper for me!

Imagine Neil and Ed on Hunger Strike..... 8-)

DC Sound Attack! - possibly the best cowbell solo ever committed to wax! :D

Also, following these lyrics with some blistering harmonica is just genius

    "Trouble I love.
    Peace I do despise.
    I'm a war monger, baby.
I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you!"

Agree with every word of this. Some of the lyrics make me cringe, but there is so much that is fantastic about this album. Was getting a little nervous after Strange Cousins. DC Sound Attack! is definitely my favorite at this point.

My favourite changes every time I listen to the album...I'm loving Cyborg Bette and am not too down on those lyrics anymore....that guitar is just soooo f'n dirty.
This album is giving me insomnia....I lay in bed at night and the songs are still blaring in my head - so catchy....impossible to sleep while hearing 'once more, unto the breach!' :D
So glad I decided to hit two shows this tour (would do more if I wasn't based in the most remote location they'll hit in NA)....I'm so pumped to hear the songs, see a full length Clutch show, and road trip with my friends, that I know I'm going to end up drinking too much and rocking too hard for the friday show....so sunday's will be the 'chill and take it all in' show.

The music industry is officially broken if this album doesn't sell a gajillion copies. I already own 2 :D

I have 3 other new records sitting on my desk that I can't get around to listening to because Earth Rocker is dominating my stereo. My neighbors now hate Clutch

Crucial Velocity is such a strong song. Can't wait to see them live.
Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.

Listened to it two times in a row. DC Sound Attack!, Gone Cold and The Face are my initial standout tracks but no doubt that'll change as I listen to it more this week.

Was disappointed there was no download card - will have to wait for the signed cd from Newbury Comics before I can play the album on my mp3 player.

Was also slightly disappointed with the packaging of the LP after the stellar efforts on Blast Tyrant and Strange Cousins.
