That's well said and i totally agree with your comment. Every show is unique, and RITFW with the lights on in Paris was unbelievable; out of control to see everyone jumping up and down with a big smile....i didn't see that happening in Antwerp.

In Reading, Ed almost cried. I hope i'll be able to catch them in the Uk next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You agree but you do the complete oposite. You keep repeating the same arguments, and won't stop bashing the Antwerp concert/crowd.
Antwerp was an unforgetable concert for many people (including me), clearly it wasn't so for you. We are now well informed of your opinion, thank you.
I haven't noticed much of a rough crowd in Paris, so I enjoyed the great setlist. It was the third and last concert of this tour for me. Really hope to see them again next year.

I didn't notice it on Monday, but does Eddie's t-shirt really say 'Adam Ant in concert'?

Every tour is the same fucking joke, "this show was better, what ,are you kidding it was shit compared to that show, people at this show were great, but at that show someone stepped on my foot etc, jesus wtf ? I fail to see the need to compare and especially to declare one show waaaay better than another, every experience is unique and personal anyway. I thought the fanviews were meant to share your experience, not to claim that your show was better than your neighbor's. All these debates are stupid, yes some people push, some don't, some people are respectful, some are not, newsfuckingflash.

I agree with you, people always want to say that they were at THE best concert of the tour and if they did plenty of concert, some are always better than others...

    Why?

As you say, each show is a different and personal experience.
At every concert, the setlist is different, you're not at the same place with the same people around. For a same concert, every people can have a different opinion because of that.

The show in Paris, i found it great, the show, the crowd, the setlist and of course the band but i understand that some people had a different feeling because they were not expecting the same thing and they were not at the same place than me.

As for the usual anti-french comments, deal with it morons, you dont like french people ?

I'm french and i really wondering about the way people see us or speak about us.
We are at the same concert for the same thing, to have a good time with the band, to hear some tracks we didn't hear before i think.
As european, we aren't lucky because they didn't come in europe since 2000, and some fans were perhaps more exciting because of that.

Perhaps some french are pushing, i just can say that there were plenty of people who were not french at that concert but i can't say that those who were pushing were only french or not.

Paris is really a special venue because a lot of people around france can easily come to Paris.
    Sundin wrote:
There's a good chance they don't like you either.

I don't like people who are only thinking about drinking beer at a concert. Some of them are drunk before the show and it's not a good thing to have them near us...and sorry, but most of them aren't french.
But that's all, the others are welcome, i have no bad feeling about them even if they don't like french for some mysterious reasons...

Sorry for my english, i probably made a lot of mistake but i think you understand me!

  • Hi,

can't believe there are people defending the moshers and pushers at the concert. You guys are just egocentric. Here's what I've been through:

In Antwerp, some abroad (yes, French) people were pushing so hard at Mike's side I got squashed so hard I couldn't even raise my hands, at one time, I couldn't even touch the ground anymore: I was hanging 10 cm above the ground, squashed between a lovely Belgian lady and a very friendly guy from the ETB. I had to be pulled out after 6 songs. I waited 12 years for this concert - being fan since 1994 and missed them in Werchter 2000 (because of Roskilde - moshers again?) - and then lightening stroke. Yes, I cried.

After been pulled out, I runned up and took a seat (I had to recover) and I could spot those few losers out. There were four or five, pushing the crowd back and forth. Is that what you should expect from a PJ concert?

I hear you say: "It's a fucking rock concert." And all I can think about are "nine friends we'll never know." Maybe you should start respecting one another. You say you're a fan of PJ? Then why can't you pay a little respect to the horror PJ and the people in Roskilde went through?

So there I was, on a seat, being the only who knew the lyrics to every song. Not being able to share this moment with the friend I came to this concert with anymore... First time in Belgium, bitter taste.
  • Hello!, we've just got back from Paris and we are still buzzing, me and my wife queued up from 3pm with the ten club folks (what a joke the girl/boy queues, back and forth, move the railings, shit was!)

anyways we got to 2nd row back when we finally got let in and it was amazing to see how small the stage was, the band was literaly on top of you!.

My Morning Jacket were fantastic, great dancing by the drummer!, i was impressed by these guys, but they love their reverb!

Then when we heard master/slave the place went nuts!, Ed look a little worried for us at the front but i think the security did ok, i was amazed at how many people got lifted out first up. It was fantastic and a little weird seeing the band actually looking you in the eye, don't ask why, it just is!, i got a wave from stone during 'thumbing my way'

It was amazing how mike kept on coming right out to us on every solo!, loved it!, you could tell the band were really physced up.

highlights for me were..all of it! lol, no seriously....MITS, Unemployable,RVM, Save you (thanks to big craig from ireland for lending me his right hand during the clappy bit so we could join in 'cos we couldnt move!), The crowd particpation in black was amazing, everyone carried on singing the riff after it ended (tear welling moment!), Yellow Ledbetter, ...........it was all pretty amazing.

back to craig, mate, you didn't last to long at the front (40 mins?)after all your jibes about 'women shudnt be at the front'!haha, my wife lasted til the first encore then had to go (i did the dutiful thing.....i stayed til the end at the front....haha!), i was ringing wet with sweat and feeling fan-bloody-tastic at the end, i ache like fuck now though!!!!

nice to talk to the two guys on the eurostar yesterday too, i was impressed by the turn out of fans from all around the globe, it was special

    Thanks guys and thanks PJ

  • Luckily, I had tickets to Paris too...

Saved some money and came over to Paris (most beautiful city I have ever seen) for three days. PJ on the second evening. You can imagine my fear for another moshing experience...

So there I was. Second row again...

During the opening act, my friend (her first PJ show) fainted. I decided to go after her (duh!). That's realy no-ones fault. So I can't blame the Paris' crowd. But I can imagine the same thing has happened to other girls and guys, because of the moshing, the pushing, the crowdsurfers, etc...

I'm having a hard time when people defend those moshers. They ruïned a lot of shows for a lot of people. They took away some PJ fans from us. Don't tell me they are entitled for the first rows during a PJ concert.

Trying to be a bit more constructive: why doesn't PJ follow the Arnhem example? Deviding the ground floor in different spaces. Only allowing a few thousands in the first one. I realy liked the extra wristband, so the people who waited for hours could (+-) remain their position, even if they fainted or were squashed and pulled out.
  • most of the 'moshers' were not in the ten club queue, they came in afterwards, it was hard to try and protect my missus aswell as watch the show,

Paris was much worse. In Antwerp I managed to stay 3rd row center (on the left side of the middle barrier). In Paris I was about that place as well and I didn't even stay for 3 songs. Pure hell.

And I agree, they should have done it at all shows like in Arnhem & Dublin. A front space for people with wristbands (10C members + earliest people with GA tickets) and the rest can have their nice moshpit a little more in the back.

  • I've got a better idea, for you lot. They might as well play in your lounge. Does that sound great?

That means if you haven't coughten up 25 dollars to get 10c ticket you're nt allowed to see them up front? Bloody hell, people should think twice before writing such stupid things!!!!!!!!!!

well, we have coughed up extra, and not just on the ticket...and anyway, early people on GA were also in the front pit.
the only difference is idiots can't just show up at the last minute then forcefully barge their way to the front whilst forcing people who spend the whole day queing out...seems fair to me.
Beside teh fact it's also safer.

Still waiting for your first smart comment ...

But the lounge ... sounds good, actually some nice dutchies I met in the line had a great idea: a closed section for 10c members with couches, tables with cool drinks and someone coming around asking us what the next song is we want to hear :-)

  • Who cares if the moshers were french or from any other country.
Those bastards were extremely selfish and tried to ruin the concert for a lot of people. Thank God, from the sounds of all these posts people had an amazing time. I was so excited to see them play in Paris because every other concert I have seen at Bercy was great, was very civil and there was always a great ambience. I was completely shocked that there was so much violence. It was a first time. I don't think a lot of people realize how scary it was. People were crushed...there were so many times...I couldn't breathe. My friend broke his toe because it was slammed so many times and it was his birthday(still didn't stop him from bopping up and down)!! I really think that if people are too drunk or too drugged up they should be booted out, just like in a bar...you can't control yourself...your OUT!!!

  • My smart idea would be people who don't want to take any sorts of risk, who can't stand crowd surfing or being pushed should get seats....

I don't fancy a concert, where you can't jump up and down, that's unfair.

After Lunatics, should be sent home, like anywhere else....before anything wrong happens...
  • Please, people should be able to express their feelings, like everyone on this board, no insult, because, me to, i can start....I've got strong feelings about what happened to me in Antwerp....

I hadn't experience anything like that before.....
  • A Concert Is Not About Fearing For Your Life!
  • I didn't fear for my life....in Paris, in my opinion, it was more dangerous in Antwerp especially for french speakers....

    What??????? You are getting paranoid!
  • My boyfriend and I travelled all the way from D.C. for the Paris gig, and overall,we werent disappointed. We had seated tickets, and after watching the crowd and reading other fans' accounts of the scene on the floor, I'm glad we did. We were 5 rows back directly across from the stage, so good seats overall.

I thought it was a really strange setlist. Not sure if it was because of the day or because of the City, but the amount of Riot Act was really surprising. Im not a huge fan of the album, but i have to say, they really rocked out on LBC and You Are was awesome.

On the whole, i thought the crowd was pretty into it, except the two duds standing right next to me. Dont think they moved and inch all night - just stood there. It just made me rock out more to be honest.

One thing i noticed that was really cool, as opposed to U.S. shows, was the crowd's involvement in RITFW. I think in the US, we have grown to see that song as the end of the show - people are still rocking out to it, but there isnt as much enthusiasm. At the Paris show though, people went crazy for ths song and when the house lights came on, it was possibly one of the coolest things ive seen at a PJ show. The entire venue was clapping and into it. It sort of gave me a new appreciation for PJ playing that song live.

Anyway, great show, great city! Looking forward to the next leg of the North American tour!

Euhm... correct me if I'm wrong here (and I could be wrong), but isn't that how it works in the US? 10C tickets get to go in a secluded area in the front?
  • Not being paranoid unfortunately...

The chaps (Dutch speakers) i bumpt into atthe concert , thought i was Belgium (a french speaker), and made my life hell, by puttig themselves in front of me, they were taller than me...and didn't stop bugging me.....just to make sure i had hell of a time...

Would wish Pearl jam next time they come to Belgium, they chose another venue than Antwerp, a place known, not to be friendly with Belgium that are French speakers... and unfortunately, i did experience that...

    LoL... but shit!!!
we're on this forum to speak about music, about pearl jam, about their gigs, etc and this thread is only about the problems that occcured during the show...
it is sad we're obliged to talk about that...
but it's true the show in paris was too "violent" and it's true that linguistic problems came out during the show in antwerp... unfortunately !!!

Shit again... music, especially pearl jam, should bring people together, but I think that's only a dream...

Anyway. the show in Paris was excellent, the crowd was enthousiastic (sometimes too much), the setlist was good...
