Thanks Kelly, I've just gone through the thread and this has been helpful a d informative.

I know you say the band don't like to plan ahead to much, but in the days of the rumour pit I'm sure I seem to remember hints of touring plans. I know I for one would appreciate more notice about a potential tour even if it was a hint that your thinking about it. It seems to me like your trying to create a shock and awe buzz about tours by keeping the announcement so secret and then putting tickets on same almost immediately. I'm sure if you gave more of a heads up it would do no harm to
    demand.

I really hope you can work these issues out as it'd be great to talk about the excitement of PJ again rather than seeing so many irrate and negative posts.
    My PJ shows:
    London 28/10/96, Las Vegas 11/7/98, London 29/5/00, Nurnburg 11/6/00, Prague 14/6/00, Salzburg 18/6/00, Verona 20/6/00, Milan 22/6/00, Zurich 23/6/00, New York 8-9/7/03, Boston 11/7/03, Reading Festival 27/8/06, Shepards Bush 11/8/09, Berlin 15/8/09, Manchester 17/8/09, London 18/8/09, Dublin 22/6/10, Belfast 23/6/10, London (HRC) 25/6/10, Alpine Valley (PJ20) 3-4/9/11, Manchester 20-21/6/12, Leeds 8/7/14, Milton Keynes 11/7/14 To be continued....

look Kelly .. i'll shut up if you let my friend, and a lot of other people's friend on here, Boston Lou back onto the forums.

Why is he the only member banned for life? yet many other 'fans' have said and done much worse.. Lou is a big supporter of the PJ Community and has even had Ed wear his hat on stage... when the new forum came live perhaps we should have all started on a clean slate? Re-instate this charitable and friendly member and I'll stop moaning ;);)

I also think Kelly is bearing the brunt of our ire... he is not 100% responsible for this, but at least he is manning up.. to a point (the 2nd night question being evaded like a green cheese at a buffet aside)
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

i found the big questions you typed ;) here they are:

    - why did you decide to stop it instead of still giving people a chance to get through?
    - why did all 6 concerts go for sale at the same time?
    - why not give local fans priority for their home concerts?
    - why did you not use the same companies that are used for the general sales?
    - was there a plan B in case this would happen?
    - if not, why not?
    - why can not all presales be in weekends so people don't have to cancel meetings and take hours or days off?
    - why were you so strict with the renewal date, even though some people had technical problems that made them be too late?
    - why all the hurry and the short times between the announcement, the Ten Club sale and the regular ones?
    - were you aware of all the people who could not sleep from Tuesday to Thursday because they did not get any news and needed to keep watching?
    - how many Ten Club members are there?
    - and why did you still not send out a tweet or a Facebook message when you knew about the second Manchester?
    - are any other second shows planned?
    - will we get any sort of compensation for missed tickets and time?
    - do you read from fans on other places than the official forum?
Lots of important questions to be answered here. Thank you.

Mr. Curtis- I appreciate your willingness to listen and respond to the core base...

the ticketing issues did not just suddenly arise with this sale, in fact, there have been issues with ticket sales for several years...the responses from the 10c seem to be "stuff happens"...or no response at all...or, "so many people trying to get a small number of tickets, sorry"...but we are talking about multiple sales, over at least 6 years that have been disastrous...

    my questions:

Does the band know about the numerous ticket sale fiascos that have taken place over the past years, and why was it not a concern until now?

Can you and the band implement a more "open" line of communication between the 10c and the fans/forums?...it seems like there is a very strict policy of any release of infomation by moderators...when they are the closest to the fan base and can easily clear up misconceptions and falsities...

How is information passed from band management to 10c management...official press release? email? phone call? snail mail letter?

Who is responsible for updating the website, and why is there no consistency in respect to when items are released and the announment of such releases?
you are not wrong at all… we have been chasing this thing every year since technology became a player and the primary way people purchase tickets… info comes in at all times and places….. and we have to make sure . depending on what the subject that it is correct and that the band.. the whole band has signed off.. that can be a task in itself...

I appreciate you responding, and i just hope that we do truly see 10c procedural changes for the better as a result. Unfortunately it took a major cluster....to get to the point of having a viable discussion with a member of the band's organization...and for that, we see the start of progress...i hope it ends up with the band signing off on a more open format for release of information through the 10c...

again, thanks for your time and efforts to calm the rabid base...this is a good start...

oh and no offence Mr Curtis... are you suggesting to us, the fans, that the 2nd night has never been discussed with you? Are you suggesting that TM sell the 2nd night out and then dictate to the band that they MUST play a 2nd night?

please do not insult our intelligence... the band, the mgt and all staff would have known about a 2nd night so why could that not have been announced before TM released tickets? I know for a fact that webpages can be set to go live at certain times... i.e. a news item on PJ could have been set to go live at 8.55am UK time this morning with info about the 2nd night.

You're evading the most burning questions. Whilst i'm sure everyone appreciates the fact you are here.. please don't skip the most emotive points. :)

let me try again...i can tell I either missed the point of this question or didn't answer it clearly. this is an industry standard, not something specific to the way i do it. there are some cities where i think we might be able to play more than one show, but I don't assume that until after we put the first show up for sale, and we see what the demand is. (there are exceptions to this rule...of course...there are some cities where we know for sure there will be demand for multiple shows so we put them both up at once. but more often i am making the decision in real time.) if the first show sells out and it seems like there is demand for a second show, i will approve for another show to go on sale right after the first one sells out or looks like it is going to.
from now on, we can post on the ten club site right when we approve for another show to be added so that you guys know.
OK This is better...But surely Kelly You can see that a lot of people could have been made aware ,that with all the presale grief they were having ,that a second show was a strong possibility for them and a heads up to that would have been great.

Thanks for your time and the concerts over here are appreciated.
    Looking forward to it now
    Cheers S.

    Kelly,

I was lucky to get seated tickets for manchester night 1 from the original 10c pre sale. Will these seats be close to the stage?

Secondly will there be wristbands handed out to 10c for the Manchester 2 gig for the standing section.

    Thanks for taking our questions

Kelly and kat- suggestion please read!!

This thread seems to be a cluster...
I read 10 pages with tons of question but too many quotes and only about 5 responses. Why not thread just the questions, take 24 hours compile them and put up one response thread, this would be much easier for all I would think.

    Kelly,

With the band having a reach that extends through the global market, the communications approach as it stands remains very much, as it has been over the past 20 years, focused on American-centric terms. Considering the fact that there are well-established markets outside of Europe, in Europe, Australia and Latin America, do you recognise the value in utilising the value in engaging with local fans as agents and representatives of the band?

The level of dedication to the band, I'm sure from my experience, extends beyond the terms of buying the records and attending the concerts. I've met enough people in my travels to see that some fans genuinely want to expand the band's reach, and to improve the way the band services its customers, its fans. The clearest way to do this, I feel, is to engage the fans themselves to take part in operating the band's business. We do care. We do not simply want to criticise - there is no point to mindless criticism, and some are guilty of that, but there are others who do genuinely want to help.

    Please let us.

And what does any of that have to do with the European pre-sale? When you get your shows and you get screwed out of your chance for 10C tickets, then you can have your discussion.

Just one more suggestion: please make Ten Club tickets transferable from one member to another. It should be technically easy to implement, and I can only see benefits. You could even limit it to a certain amount of times.

    groetjes,
    Mirella :)

Just to add to this; if you require us to buy 2 tickets, you have a moral obligation to transfer tix to another name, because if the ten club member who bought the tix can't make it, the member's ticket partner ALSO gets screwed. The reason they stopped transferring tickets, I believe, Mirella, is because people with low numbers were buying tons of tickets and then transferring them to friends with higher numbers.

The ideal solution is that if a member cannot go, ONE of their tickets will be transferred to their ticket partner.

Thank you for this addition, Laurie! And the reason they stopped it only would help for seniority reasons, and with GA there is no such problem.

  • Dear Kelly,

thank you for being there and answering some of the questions.
As countless others, I was furious about the fiasco and am still without a ticket..

    My question is:

Would you consider to have a raffle draw for the chance to buy guaranteed tickets next time (or this time if you find a few hundred..)?
You could use the raffle money to donate to a charity chosen by the band.

    Good night from Manchester

I am so impressed by Kelly's willingness to do this.

We haven't gotten all the questions answered yet, nor do we have a solid understanding of the preventative measures that will be taken in the future.

Those points aside, what we have gotten is much more than we usually get: direct communication with band management, confirmation the band is aware, and confirmation that alternatives are being considered.

I have a great deal of empathy for him. It's no walk in the park to be on his end of the firing line (some of these are questions, while others are simply accusations).

Thanks Kelly! I appreciate your time.

I've read a number of your posts over the last couple of days and must say they come across as the most negative I have read in a long long time. Seriously if you feel that bad towards the band and the management then jog on.

    Kelly,

Thanks for taking the time to do this. I think there has been a real lack of direct communication and this goes some way to remedy it.

However, (with all due respect to Sea) the reason why there have been a lot of repeated questions is that I think many of us feel that the key questions have not been answered satisfactorily. I think the above answer to Dunk's repeated question is finally getting somewhere, though the fact remains that fee-paying Ten Club fans remain left out in the cold once again.

The other issue that remains is communication. Rather than asking the same question again, I'll restate it, and maybe that will get us somewhere.

We accept that you didn't know what was going on. That point was made by many of us on the board during the 30 hours of deafening silence. We didn't expect definitive answers then and there - we just wanted word that you were aware and that you were trying to take care of it. That would have been enough, and it would have made this whole nightmare a lot more palatable for everyone, on our side and on yours.

Do you agree the great majority of our frustration (and yours) could have been avoided had 10 Club staff at least made contact with us to let us know that you were investigating it, working on it and would inform us as soon as you knew what was happening. And can you promise that you will try to ensure that those lines of communication are improved in the future?

    Thanks.

    1. Their plan to tour Europe has nothing to do with this or the situation.

    2. I think I, and others, have the right to be upset and "dreadful". Watch me being happy in June or whenever. Right now - I act as negative as I want to. But sit their with your smile if tou want to, don't tell me how to feel or behave. If people like me and others did not show our disdain towards this situation and the lack of communication Curtis wouldnt even be on here.
