  • was certainly a special show! Just kinda sucks it was mostly old stuff, i mean where was no code, binaural or riot act? all amazing albums. Do pearl jam always stick to old songs in the british isles, because half the crowd are uneducated pearl jam listeners? I have no complaints on the songs tho! all played to perfection. I would love to go to a show in the states though, so you get a more varied setlist

anyone kinda get what i mean?

McCready is a God! He spent every single song from start to finish, working the crowd, getting everyone around him jumping!

Highlights were Severed Hand (Matt Cameron owned this), Why Go?, Marker, Leash, and Alive.

The only dissapointment was that they didn't play Ledbetter after Fuckin' Up, it just didn't seem like the show was actually over.

Jeff was jumping around, Matt was awesome, Ed was loving it, as was Boom, who really seemed to be having the time of his life and McCready was on fire. Stone seemed a little like he was bored to me, but i was on Mike's side of the stage so perhaps i just wasn't giving Stone enough attention.

Erm... what else... Jeff is back playing the 12 string bass like the old days on Leash, Why Go etc. and It's OK was fucking phenominal :)

I was lucky enough to get Ed's empty wine bottle from a crew member after the show, and Mike looked and pointed straight to me - now i know what it feels like!

From start to finish, a great night!
i was standing right in front of him, looked pissed off all night.!!

To be honest, I missed nothing from Riot Act. I was hoping they would play 'Down' which came from the Riot Act session, but I was delighted that they didn't play anything from that album.

Nothing from Off He Goes was disappointing, but having said that, I was enjoying the gig so much that I didn't notice that until someone said it on the board the next day, so I ain't gonna complain.
Put the garbage in the garbage can... I can't stress that enough.

Dublin isnt in the British Isles though ;);)

but i get what you mean... no Binaural, No Code or Riot ACt is a bit of a shame... only 2 from Yeild and Vitalogy as well

so only 4 songs from those 5 albums .... thats a bit of a shame considering it was 9 from the first 2 albums.... please dont turn into the Rolling Stones and just play the hits from 1991-1994 :D
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

I'm Irish and I love those albums, particularly yield and no code......but it was such an amazing nite I didn't even notice until afterwards!!!!

I'm not gonna start saying they should've played this or they should've played that though because despite the fact there are some songs I would have loved to hear live, I was in heaven just the way it was so why worry about it now!!!! :)

I do hope they don't start playing just the early hits all the time tho.........

What t-shirt was Ed wearing? I couldn't work out what it said. Something about 'so-and-so in concert'.

i'm not complaining about it either... the night was amazing and they could have played the first 2 albums entirely and i'd have loved it... but i just dont want them to think that they should only play hits from the first 2 albums.... i think most fans there would have known more of the songs from later albums... again, not a complaint..... more a "I fucking love No Code and Yield more than the other albums" kinda comment... :D

Hello all :) After a good nights sleep can finally think somewhat normally :o

Just to say thank you to everyone I met for making it a great trip. Fellow Astorians and all those who have been posting in the Dublin thread for months it was great to see you all and The Temple Bar before the gig was great.

Joined the 10C queue around 5 but be skipping merch was second row of the front pit kinda between Mike and Jeff. Thanks to Buru and newagehippie for making sure this shorty could see all night. I had a great view there was no need to worry. And newagehippie you are a gent for swapping places with me for the encores so I could be front row and get my Mike pic and point :D

Don't think anyone mentioned us being able to see Mike and Stone when they were chatting to their guitar techs pre gig and Mike giving us all a wave when he realised he was spotted and Stone sitting down behind the guitar rack :D

As everyone has said the gig was amazing as was the crowd. Can't wait to see some of you again on Sunday at Reading.
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?

I think that seats on the floor at a rock concert are ridiculous. The Point had it right, although I wasn't too sure about the GA area being separated off - I would have been a bit pissed off to have been kept that far back. There was a girl near to the front of the 10club area who was about 5' 4" who, whenever anyone happened to get pushed against her, threw her head back to headbutt the person behind her. I watched her doing this for a couple of minutes. I was severly tempted to pick her up and fucking launch her over the front of the crowd. She couldn't see anything anyway, so what was she doing there, other than being a bloody nuisance?

It's beyond comprehension why she'd (or indeed anyone would) want to hurt other people like that. I just don't get why anyone would actively want to make the situation worse.

Mind you, having said that, I'd have been tempted to do the same as you!! :D

Yeah say mike alright with the guitar tech's but don't think that was stone everyone was shouting at. Hightlight for me was Given to Fly by a distance . Just blew me away.
  • Well...ive never posted here before, dunno why...had another account...thought id post now.

BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE. From start to finish.

Paddy Casey, has a sense of humour, poor guy, he took it well though.

Inside Job to kick things off, was unbelieveable, cant listen to it now without thinking back to the moment they all walked on stage.

Mike Mc Cready is a legend, got one of his plecs, he didnt take his eyes off the crowd, eye contact with him AMAZING. i was at the left hand side right infront of him, one person infront of me at barrier, then i got to barrier for Alive. Searched ground 5 mins after he threw plecs, used a lighter i found and saw the plec. in my pocket it went.

RVM, DTE, Betterman were highlights for me, and Evenflow, Matts solo was amazing. I have no complaints whatsoever, even though i did come home without one t-shirt out of 3 and one poster out of three.

Best moment of my life, Eddie Vedder stading infront of me with his tambourine, then bent down and told security guard "blonde hair with green shirt...give it to her." and i got his tambourine.

My eyes filled with tears during Black, most amazing song I have ever heard live.

It was the greatest experience in my life, so much to say, so little time.

Thanks to Pamela {totaledhead} Ed, Denise, Al {Rhinocerous Surprise} and Kirk {kirk-shoot rapture} for Qing with me and making it a memorable night.

Any pictures from tambourine moment would be much appreciated.
"How I choose to feel is how I am."

Anyone who went to Dublin going to Vienna? That's my other gig this tour (managed to get 10c tickets). I haven't heard much mentioned about Vienna on the forum though.

  • He was joking about people cheering for BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!

Are you sure about that? I hope so as I got the impression that people were "booing" the keyboard player and was a bit dissappointed at this. Glad to hear Ed and the boys weren't p***ed off with some of the fans.

Booomm does indeed sound very similiar to Boooooo. However they were cheering for Boom as opposed to booing him.

  • HOLY CRYIN' CRAP!!!!

just got home. hopes hadn't been too high, or was at least trying to stay realistic.. but FUCK ME! I can't go into it all here - only got 4 hrs sleep last night and have been on my feet consistently for the last 15 hours or so. Need sleep, but this gig - even though they didn't play a very long set - really surpassed all my expectations.

Full fanview to come, but for now make what you will of this:

Inside Job as an opener, It's Ok as a Daughter tag, extraordinary Even Flow drum solo from Matt - when he was the only one on the stage, the first ever performance of Education, and of a hometown classic The Boys Are Back In Town (with Mikey in Thin Lizzy tshirt). Plus Indifference, Fuckin' Up, passing the bottle around with Crazy Mary.

It was only 23 songs and 2:10, but they went way past curfew and lots of long songs and jams (Inside Job, Even Flow, Daughter, Rearviewmirror, Alive, Black,Crazy Mary, Fuckin' Up) made it the longest show they've ever played in Ireland... And the first time they've ever played a 2nd encore here. There were lots of things I would've liked to hear but didn't, but I truly have no complaints (about the show - the organisation was a joke). Fantastic, energetic show, rarities, covers, and a version of Black that almost surpasses the version they played here in 2000, when ed stage dived onto me.

And that's before I tell you that I threw my hallowe'en mask to ed, and in one smooth movement he caught it and threw me back his wine cork. And then came back again, singled me out and tossed me a tambourine during Fuckin' Up.

What an incredible night. Anyone going to any more shows on this tour, you're in for a treat. i just wish I was.

    More tomorrow...

They were definitely much much tighter and more focused than the last time they played Dublin. The only lyrics Ed flubbed this time around, as far as I could tell, were the songs he'd never sang before - Education and Boys are back.

    And F you too.
it was a loving f you...

I have mixed feelings about this. But then again, it's only been a year since I saw them. Not that much has changed.
But I thought they were harder than last year. But that could have had to do with the setlist, which rocked my balls off. Seriously, apart from Indifference-Black-Crazy Mary, the whole show seemed to be rocking songs. Wow. Even Gone, Betterman & Daughter rocked harder than I expected them to do. :)
it had been about 3 years since they had done a california show and i was blown away. ive been going to shows since 92 and my impression of this tour is that they are getting better every year and may be at their very best as a band right now. perhaps it was all the discipline in the studio this time round.

Yes, I'm sure! The keyboard player's name is Boom. That happens at every show, and every Boom solo. No booing involved.

In fact, eddie even said this explicitly during the show.
