  • ah man. so awesome!

was 2nd row, right in front of jeff....my highlights were mike and his posing and pointing, matt's drum solo and the boys are back in town.

couldn't believe i had such a wicked view - got into the queue at like 6pm, the line was massive - but i just headed right to the front - now beer, no merch - and scored a cracker!

and i met Boom in Dublin - yeah!!!!

well ...all i can say is that i am still fucked.
    over 24 hrs later......totally drained

    what a show!!!!!!
inside job is a fantastic opener..knocked me for six..

was in pit about 7 rows back in front of jeff.
was absolute bedlam for first 5 songs but not rough...was brilliant

not going to list all songs cause they were all excellent but jams
    were incredible.

sound was very good but for eddie in life wasted..music drowned him out.

did not think that leash went down all that well although i went ape shit.

First concert for my wife who was extatic coming out and is still raving today
    about how good they were.
By end of first set she had to actually pull my t-shirt off me as i could not do it it was so stuck to me and she held my posters for whole show..bless her..

although people not there might think it was short set the quality and whole vibe of the concert was outstanding.

Call me a square but after being crushed last night at the Point (I came off lightly with a bruise the size of my hand on my leg).. I think seated tickets are the way forward now. Oh yes. As long as I can see what's going on onstage, I don't need to be desperatly close, so long as I'm comfortable and have the space to enjoy myself properly.

    I'm old :(

I wouldn't swap standing for the world...:)

Think its good to have a mix, but the energy at seated concerts tends to be a bit flat IMHO, and the capacity last night would have been much less if all seated. Security at the Point at pretty good at dealing with rock concert audiences, they have to be given the venue's history.

    And no, you're not old...

2 things I remembered and haven't seen anywhere:

a good point for the Point (sorry), was the security checks/search being conducted at teh entrance to teh site rather than at the admission door!
Saves a lot of time at the precious moment where you want to get to a good spot ASAP...all venues should do that!

Nobody mentionned Ed skating the lobby??? :D

  • Was at the concert last night which can only be described as A-FUCKING-MAZING!
Started queuing at about half 4 or so. Managed to get pit passes & made my way right to the top. Was up against the barrier right in front of Mike which was unreal. Got a plec & my friend got the original setlist. A guy right beside us drank from Eddie's bottle. Surreal. Favourite song was definitely Do The Evolution, the crowd just came to life!
One of the best nights of my life & not one I will ever forget. Can't listen 2 a PJ song now without getting chills down my spine!

THANK YOU PEARL JAM SOOOO MUCH!

Well I'm starting to collect my thoughts now. It was an amazing show as everyone has said. I've seen PJ 3 times before and this was definitely the best. The band seemed really up for it and the crowd were superb. In the pit there was a great atmosphere among the fans....everyone getting on and just enjoying the night (not like in 2000 with fucking moaning yanks giving out about not having a personal parameter around them....its a fucking gig, you're at the front what the fuck toy you expect  ).

The whole day was amazing...meeting up in the Temple Bar for a few scoops and making our way over to the gig......a big THANKS to those I spent the day with you were a great laugh and I hope you enjoyed it as much as me.

Paddy Casey...not the right place for him. I got the impression that it was a last minute thing getting him in.

I said to my bro during the week that if the started with Inside Job I might just cry.....well I managed to fight back the tears to just be immersed in that song....still the stand out on Avocado for me and after last night it hasn't diminished.

WWS and Severed Hand were excellent...well placed in the set to get the crowd jumpin.

Animal and DTE were 2 of the stand outs for me. The last just ripped the place up. Eddie's vocals were/are probably better than ever!

GTF, Corduroy, gone and Marker were great (marker is really growing on me the more I hear it live).

Daughter and Betterman.....well done fans....made these songs take flight and soar above the Dublin skies.

Why Go.......fucking classic....no more to be said :D

Education...my favourite tune of lost dogs and I'm one of the first people to hear it live....Thanks Pearl Jam.

Never though I'd say this but Even Flow = Matt Cameron....he fucking nailed the drum solo...for me (and I hate to admit this but) he outshone Mike's solo (drops to avoid bullets from Mike fans). Mike is my favourite guitarist and his Even Flow solos leave me speechless every time and I have never been to pushed on Matts solos but last night I got it ;)
    Still my favourite PJ tune

Life Wasted and RVM...Eddie was superb.

Was delighted and amazed when they played Indifference....fucking love this tune....got a clip on my camera...will try and upload it later,

Black followed and again I was nearly in tears....just beautiful.

Crazy Mary and Alive were great at pushing the crowd onwards and upwards.

The Boys Are Back in Town.....fucking class...didn't matter that they fucked it up, made it even more special. The whole band laughed and you could see how much they were enjoying the night.

    Leash....what a privilage to hear live...loved it.

    Fuckin Up....Amazing closer...

All in all, up there as one of the most special days/nights of my life. Thanks you to Pearl Jam and to all of you.....Keep on Rocking in the Free World.

    :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

First of all F you to everyone who got to see Pearl Jam in such an awesome city! That must have been such a blast. Temple Bar and then off to Pearl Jam in a smaller venue? How can you top that?

Just wondering, it seems like the majority of people at the Show were Irish or European. Is that accurate? Were there alot of U.S. travellers at the show> Curious about the crowd makeup..

For those of you in Europe who are seeing the band for the first time in several years, would you say they have gotten better, tighter since the last time you saw them.

I had a 3 year hiatus here in California from Pearl Jam shows and thought the band this time around is as tight as ever. They seem to have kicked it up a notch. Letting Matt solo and sing, giving Mike more room to solo, etc, etc. What were all your thoughts and observations?

well that's why they put a second barrier..if you can't sustend that, I suggest you get yourself the seated places and leave the rest of us to enjoy the pit :)

What an odd comment to make.....Gen could have gotten seriously hurt. We were far from the only ones who were surprised at how rough the crowd were behind the second barrier.

Up until 5 minutes before the band came on stage, there was no pushing at all, people were stood with space, hell, i even saw one guy on crutches just behind us so clearly he wasn;t expecting it to be rough.

The problem, or at least i think it stems from this, was that people had spent a long time drinking outside of the auditorium up until stage time and then come in and hadn;t realised there was an actual barrier there and tried to push their way forward. At most shows, the distance the second barrier was from the stage if a very safe place to be standing.

I understand why they have the barrier there but it seems like it does just as much harm as good.

I have mixed feelings about this. But then again, it's only been a year since I saw them. Not that much has changed.
But I thought they were harder than last year. But that could have had to do with the setlist, which rocked my balls off. Seriously, apart from Indifference-Black-Crazy Mary, the whole show seemed to be rocking songs. Wow. Even Gone, Betterman & Daughter rocked harder than I expected them to do. :)

I thought he was talking about the first Pit..I didn't know then that was rougher in the second (everybody I met was in the first).

Still, you must be prepared for some action if you're standing...rather than call for an all seating show just because he was not, one can always find a quiet spot..or just buy seating..

I think some folk on here may have misunderstood what I meant by my previous post. I suggested that I would prefer a seated ticket from now on, not that the whole venue should be seated. I'm all for standing and having a dance and a good time but being a mere 5'4", I can never see much action on stage. So, personally, I would like to be seated but with the opportunity to stand. :)

I've got loads of quality footage from the show but most of the clips are approx 200mb in size. Does anyone know how I can upload them? MySpace and You tube have limits of 100mb.

I think that seats on the floor at a rock concert are ridiculous. The Point had it right, although I wasn't too sure about the GA area being separated off - I would have been a bit pissed off to have been kept that far back. There was a girl near to the front of the 10club area who was about 5' 4" who, whenever anyone happened to get pushed against her, threw her head back to headbutt the person behind her. I watched her doing this for a couple of minutes. I was severly tempted to pick her up and fucking launch her over the front of the crowd. She couldn't see anything anyway, so what was she doing there, other than being a bloody nuisance?

God, people like that annoy the fuck out of me. What the fuck did she expect up there? A nice blanket and a hot water bottle? Nothing but a 'C yoU Next Tuesday' me'reckons.

They were definitely much much tighter and more focused than the last time they played Dublin. The only lyrics Ed flubbed this time around, as far as I could tell, were the songs he'd never sang before - Education and Boys are back.

    And F you too.
