ed's voice got weak and i thought he was crying as he sang a few lines of "it's ok" after black. i don't see that on the official set list, only black.

I noticed that too. He didn't go into it all..he just went 'It's ok, it's ok, it's ok, it's ok, it's ok, I'll love you forever.....forever."

Wasn't it the "we Belong Together" tag. I noticed him wiping his face afterwards too, kind of an emotional ending to the song.

It was beautiful. The crowd was in awe. Then he hugged Stone! Then hearing the opening chords to Alive...my heart skipped a beat.
I buy all the boots, but this one not up yet, what did Ed mean by that? Pitts not one of their fav cities? More Seattleites STILL WHINING About SB XL??
Lifelong Steelers fan here in Mass...

He goes 'Let's face it, there are a lot of places in the world, and Pittsburgh just isn't our favorite place.' (crowd boos/Steelers chant) 'However, it's like #3'.

I've been to quite a few shows, thought I would never see a 'Burgh show better than my first in 98, but the band and crowd blew me away on this one. Absolutely amazing! Black was completely moving & gorgeous & I cried too during the tag, also a lovely Daughter tag, first Marker in the Sand for me this tour, best Porch I've ever heard, a most unexpected Smile.... and Rockin in the Free World on fire!! (I have so much love for Stone...so much love.)

So Ed said Pittsburgh wasn't one of their favorite places... he DID say it was one of their favorite places to play. I actually laughed when he said that and he looked around with a pause before saying the rest, what a joker. The band seemed in excellent spirits, looked like everyone was having fun, I loved every song and dear god they sounded great!

Feels like I'm waiting forever for the boot. Can't wait to relive this one.
  • Yeah no way... I was at Rutherford I and the crowd wasn't anywhere near the Pittsburgh crowd... not to mention the State College crowd back in 03... must be a PSU thing :)

ANd yeah... the clapping during RITFW was rediculous... my hands were bright red!

Now my question is... with the .flac files... if I d/l those instead of the mp3z, will I be able to play then in winamp AND my car stereo (which is an mp3 headunit) without any problems? And is the audio quality really any better?

the state college crowd was the worst crowd i've ever seen at a pj show. i was all the way in the back and saw everyone during the whole show. pnc park was better crowd wise. i'd say at least 30% of the audience was sitting during state college. they didn't get into it until they said it would be their longest show ever.

You must have been in a big downer seat then, 'cause where I was everyone was goin' nuts the entire show. Of course I went with 4 other huge PJ fans, so maybe our energy was spreadin' throughout our entire section. :) Moral: More people should go to PJ shows with ME. haha

no i was all the way in the back, right where u go in to go down to your seats, they had about 6 seats before the stairs. i saw everyone the whole time. the crowd was really really really bad. don't get me wrong there were some people going nuts as always, but as a whole, by far the worst crowd i've ever seen at a pearl jam show.

Nice nice show. Highlights for me were preset Throw Your Arms Around Me - Ed's voice was SO clear and it was beautiful! Smile - my first time hearing it, in 21 shows! The unexpected Waiting on a Friend - very cool, then Man of the Hour; Comatose continues to be a favorite live, and Severed Hand and WWS. In Hiding AGAIN! :D RITW was really energetic. I said so in another thread, but Black was so heartfelt, and the words of the tag and how Ed was during the tag really made me wonder if he was thinking about Johnny then.... words like apart forever.... I liked Robert Pollard - I'd never heard any of his stuff before. I don't want this to have been my last show of the tour, but it most likely is, so I'll have to live vicariously through everyone else's show posts now.

The show was amazing, by far my best seats (row J/10th row left center)! they definately were in the zone that night. its great when things click and they are all in the zone and feeling the music. The crowd was great too, as a fan for 14 years it makes me feel great when Im surrounded by fans that appreciate the band as much as I do and sing as loud as they can and rock out with such excitement it feels like family. When the band gets there and the crowd is there with them, its very spiritual. Keep kickin ass!

  • I had a great time at the show...good setlist and all..but I must say I was disappointed with the city..I'm from ottawa which is a fairly big city with about 1 million people but Pittsburgh's nightlife and just "things to do" kinda sucks...seemed pretty lame for some reason...but whatever..the show was great as always..
Not sure why but Pittsburgh seemed like a a city with nice big buildings with hardly anyone living there?..weird? maybe it's just me but seemed like a hick town...lol

In the city "proper" there is nothing to do at night. Basically it closes by 8pm at the latest. With the exception of the Strip. Other than that you have to go to the South Side, Oakland or out to the suburbs for any kind of nightlife. I have never even felt safe Downtown after 7pm.
    PJ FANS ROCK!!!

Finally got that "One for the Thumb"!!! Got the "Six Pack". Now we're on a "Stairway to Seven"

Yeah I know..the thing is we did go to the "South side" and it kinda really sucked...lol...I live in a suburb of Ottawa and it's more happening than there...lol....anyways no biggie..had a good time at the show...
One thing I should say though...I felt safe in Pittsburgh...not as much crime as back home !

ya, waiting on the boot sucks.

And pittsburgh nightlife isnt bad. You should have done some reasearch before she show when you visit a city where you dont know where anything is. Basically you could have gone 5 minutes (car ride) in 4 directions (the strip district, oakland, station square, or shadyside) and you would have found good-great nightlife.

    dang...where is this boot?
  • this show was such a blast! 6th row center stage, nearly 3 hours long, caught one of ed's picks. the band was really on fire and the crowd picked them up even more. pj really feeds off a good crowd. loved every second, this is now my new favorite concert.

i hope they dont forget about the boot, that one's gonna get a lot of play.

went to a place called "souper bowl" before and after the show after checking out a map of bars in the city before we drove out there. met some cool 10c'ers there too. cheap food and good beer, and it was about a 2 minute walk from the venue.

  • Well Pittsburgh was my second show of this tour and I could hardly wait. I had gone to Cleveland and that was such an awesome show my firend and I had to buy tickets to other shows. On our way over to Pitt my friend was talking to her best friend and she really wanted to come to the show so I stopped and bought another tickets show she could join us. As I got back in the truck i told my firend that doing things like this give you good karma.
It was finally time for the show and we all met and went in to anouther incredible show. The boys did not let us down, the setlist was incredible and they all played incredible. When the show was over my firend and i met back up and decided to just sit in the truck and look at the pictures we took instead of trying to fight the traffic. Once all the traffic was gone we left and as we drove around the arena I noticed some vans pulling into the tunnel under the arena and a small group of people. So we got out and thought if nothing else we can wave at the guys as they leave. We stood there and as we waited had a nice conversation with one of their security guards who asked us to make sure to stand to the side of the drive way because the vans usually just come flying out. Then he counted us and walked over to talk to us. He told us to all take a deep breath and relax that the van was going to pull up and Eddie was going to get out and shake hands with us. Then the van pulled up and Eddie got out and shook habds with everyone there and kiss my friend. It was awesome. He was such a humble guy and peasceful. THANKS EDDIE FOR AN INCREDIBLE NIGHT IN PITTSBURGH!!!
