Great show! Mudhoney rocked thier set, Mikes cameo was cool. PJ rocked of course. I thought the crowd was alittle flat for whatever reason, but i don't think anyone needs to be scolded for it lol. Loved Stones one man band routine. It was a treat to see the guys changing instruments and having fun!
I know some didn't dig the poster. I like it, very 90's and I'm old so ....
Yes, that was Molly again. That girl has some PJ angel watching over her! Long story short, my husband and 13 year old son got out row 12 10c tix for the first set, and Molly and I for the encores. We were right on the aisle Stone's side. Because she's short, she stood on the seats to see. After a few songs, Mr Anal Security guard came over and said she can't stand on the seat, can't be held in my arms, can't go on my back. I was fairly po'd, but at the same time I didn't want to ruin our experience or get kicked out for being ornerary. So Molly decides to go way out into the aisle to watch, as at least she has a sightline of the stage from there. Miraculously security lets her stay there. During RITFW, another security guard bee lines it for me. I'm thinking, oh oh, that's it for her. So he says to me, "would it be OK if I took your daughter up front so she could see better?" Um, OK thanks! So she goes on up, and in the mean time Ed is smashing tambourines over by Mike, and he's suddenly on his way over to Stone's side, sees her, comes right on over, and hands over a tambourine. And not just any tambourine, a blood splattered tambourine! I wish I could have seen her face! Let's just say she was holding it very cautiously when I met up with her! Oh and then Mike came over too and handed her a pick. Crazy! Needless to say, she/we were thrilled, and I am happy to report at least one very kind and lovely security guard at the Coliseum that night. Oh, and the show to that point too was fantastic. I felt somewhat spoiled in the Prairie shows with extra amazing seats, but I did like the perspective of being further back to see how the crowd reacts to the band. And really, for this show, it was all over the place from rocking to placid. And also I'm not a sound junkie, but even I could tell the sound wasn't great. Ah well, the energy and choice of set list made up for it. Gems for me: Smile, Bee Girl, and Chloe Dancer. Thanks to Pearl Jam for playing Canada again. You're welcome anytime. Cheers! Lisa
(PS if anyone has any picture or footage of Molly getting the tambourine, I'd love to see it. Thanks!)
Sorry, this isn't the best and you can't see your daughter but it sort of captures what you've described at 6:20 (Ed) and 6:50 (Mike).
Also, glad to hear there are still good security guards out there. I was surprised that the one I was next to pulled a camera out of his pocket to take a few pictures himself!
If you are not familiar with my thread going back to September 20th, where I requested that the band play "Smile" for my finace, here it is: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=171047 Well, to our surprise, they played it. We went nuts when Eddie said, "This one goes out to a request, and to my band..." Then the harmonica came in.
I don't know her name, but she was one of the Wishlist volunteers, because I remember her from the pre-party. She was nice enough to let me hold it and take a picture with it. A big thanks to her for letting me do that. George Webb had given her a setlist after the show because it was her birthday too. She was tall, dark brown hair and had an awesome custom hoodie on. If anyone knows who she is, please PM me. I got caught up in the moment and she was gone.
I would like to ask if she could graciously make a copy of it for us. Or if anyone else possesses a copy of this, please let me know. I am not asking for the original, just a copy. If anyone can please help out I would be very grateful, for this would make a cool gift for my fiance. Thank you.

I think Molly was mentioned in a review here today. It was from the Georgia Straight, a free newspaper that comes out every thursday. When it goes digital I will link it. Really calls security out for the bad crowd. Quite eye opening. Really a shame all the stories surfacing about this security bullshit. No jumping up and down on the floor, seriously?

Security wasn't bad where I was. Too anal in-between sets, when a friend and I found each other and started playing catch-up ... that got cut short "because we want to keep the aisles clear"; we barely took up any of it. I know there are fire codes to respect but it was a bit much. :( I had no problems during the show, thankfully.

Had a great time at my first non-US show. The wife and I walked and ate our way through Vancouver.
Some highlights for me included:
Awesome punch of songs 2-5.
No waiting in line at the bathroom as Even Flow played.
Finally hearing Pilate, Mankind, and Smile live.
Chloe Dancer played with COT.
McCready and Tim DiJulio playing like madmen on RITFW.
Little Wing.
Would have liked to have seen Oceans as an opener. Elderly feels more appropriate as an opener at Bridge School. Bee Girl was a little underwhelming and I could have done without WWS and Unemployable, but otherwise it was a great set. Looking forward to returning to Vancouver.

Has anyone heard if after Central and South America the boys will be back in the US to complete the Tour?
Best guess is they will complete their new album and tour the US after that.
Soundgarden is going to be touring in Australia in January... and Matt will be with them...
Jeff says they're about halfway done with the new album... I'd guess summer or (more likely) fall shows...
I'm trying to find a way to get to South America.

Does anybody know if there was a "Variant Poster" for Vancouver?
Pictures if you have one please.
You know what would be cool... if variant was whole another poster from different artist
Sorry I just hate it so much.
There is so much of inspiration around that city/area, North Indian Art, Oceans, even if you took a picture of that Totem in front of the venue and work little bit in photoshop would make much better poster that this guy did. Awfully ugly!
Anyway the show was awesome, amazing set list, I think I got to hear that night 7 new song after 21 shows...that is pretty sweet.
CAN'T KEEP CRAZY MARY IN MY TREE NO WAY NOT FOR YOU. ALL THOSE YESTERDAY JEREMY is ALONE, SAD with RATS & BUGS it's HARD TO IMAGINE a JEREMY a BETTER MAN.
LIFE WASTED, BLOOD on the PORCH, LAST KISS is a WISHLIST DEEP DOWN NOTHING AS IT SEEMS WHY GO COME BACK ALIVE SPIN THE BLACK CIRCLE and SMILE.
Not a peep outta the poster "artist." Here's his site http://www.popaganda.com/blog1.php. Nobody has even put it up in Expresso Beans! And other poster sites just show a shot of it hanging, dejectedly, at the merch stand.
Was this a case of a BIG NAME feeling his oats and phoning one in? Was the project "beneath" him? Why did the band approve it? And why did they approve offset printing (still haven't confirmed it, but it didn't look screen printed to me) and yet charge the same price.... We'll never know. Hope English does not become a regular, so many young artists willing to do the work and do it right.
But back on Topic -- it was curious after Ole that Ed asked for a show of hands again. He totally wanted to see if the dudes he had just screamed at were local or not. And that's when he mentioned the folks in back going out of their minds.
Was commenting that I woulda liked a few more slow songs with/for the wife, but there really were plenty -- I just forgot about Off He Goes, not exactly a "chick" song, but hey, I'll take that rather than have my lady singing Betterman at me!
And I dunno, but I think folks will be talking about that Porch for a while once the boots come out. No clue how they're jamming that at other stops, but that extended jam was fun! Did not wanna come outta it, they just kept working and working it!
Anyone e;se notice how playing the song Present Tense right after Unemployable was not by random?
When Pearl Jam did VH1 Storytellers in 2006 (I think), they played the song Unemployable, and then spoke a bit about the next song. Ed said "In the last song, we said "scared alive, scared to die". This next song should be called "Scared to Die"." And then they broke into Present Tense.
If it wasn't Storytellers, it was probably some other concert footage that I saw. I can't find any good YouTube videos for Storytellers now, it must've gotten taken down, even though there is no other way to watch it. (Please correct me if I'm wrong).
Either way, I was very happy to hear both songs live, and also knowing the significance of why they were played back to back.

Hard to believe it was a week ago to this time when I was feeling a good glow, drinking a few beers eating a few tapas at the bierhouse, thinking I was in the 2nd row, finding out I was in another 2nd row,
Great show. Great show. It's been a great ride with these guys. Can't believe we are all so fortunate to catch these guys live as often as we do.
I don't care what anybody says, the poster works for me. It could have been better of course, but it still embodies a show I loved. People will look at it on my wall and go, "What the fuk is that?" I'll tell them it represents a night in my life very unlike others.
Where's my backpack? I'm worried that person that got one by mistake has mine.
It's been a little more than a week and I feel like I have a little better perspective on this show.
First off, I really want to start out by saying THANK YOU to every Canadian I met and encountered on this trip! This is only the second time I've ever visited Canada and I have to say Canadians might quite possibly be the friendliest and most welcoming people on the planet. Seriously! I've never felt more welcome and at home in a strange place than in the few days I spent in Vancouver!
I came up from Phoenix, AZ, for this show. I had some business in Vancouver over the weekend and I thought I'd stay an extra day to watch the best band in the world play live. I'd only seen Pearl Jam twice before; would love to get to more shows. Last time I caught them they opened up for Tom Petty in Milwaukee in 2006 - was maybe the best concert-going experience I've ever had. Ever. And ever since that show I'd been chomping at the bit to catch them live again. Had a couple opportunities, but they were stretches and wouldn't have worked out in the long run. Five long years, man. So, as you might imagine, I was pretty worked up for this!
Even my flight up to BC didn't seem real. I'd been counting the days, and you know what happens when you do that - you're on extrasensory overload and time moves slow. I arrived at the Pacific Coliseum two hours early (wasn't really doing all that much anyhow). Sat around, snagged some merch (bought the poster... I'm not disappointed with it at all... Not only is it special to me because it commemorates the show - it's Ron English's first gigposter! Not too shabby! I told a couple Faithful hanging around I was gonna hang it up in my daughter's room - who saw it, by the way, and asked me if I could put it up in her room!!! LOL!! ), sat around some more, watched some relationship drama unfold, chatted with a few long-time 10-Clubbers who had 4th row seats (Stone side), sat around some more. Really didn't feel like I was there. I mean, waiting for this show since May and there I was... Felt strange...
Doors opened, grabbed a burger (real damn good burger!), saw the size of the beer cups (Dixie Cups would have held more) and forgot about that idea, then grabbed my seat. I was in Sec. Z... Nice straight-on look at the stage. I realized I'd forgotten my earplugs (I've been to waayyy too many concerts in my 32 years and my hearing has certainly paid the price... and thanks to Dinosaur Jr. at the Marquee in 2009, I've got a wicked case of tinnitus. So I wear earplugs to shows from now on to keep the hearing I have left), so I hopped downstairs and caught the attention of a first-aid guy who was off to the side of the stage. He begrudgingly handed me a pair of earplugs and said, "I'm not really supposed to hand these out, but I don't want you to be miserable the whole show, right?" (Like I said, Canadians = friendly/accommodating as hell!). Thanked him profusely, and got back to my seat in time for Mudhoney.
Man, Mudhoney was just such a pleasure to see. Freaking Mark Arm! Great energy. Then when Mike came out and played with them? Such a treat! Weren't too many folks in my section then... I was on an aisle so people were asking me, "What row is this?" and "Is this Section F?" You can kinda expect those interruptions during the opening band... Wish I could have paid more attention.
Then the main event...
So surreal! People were STILL looking for their seats when PJ launched into Small Town, but I was transfixed on the stage! Damn it was great to hear them live again. Highlights for me: Animal; Given to Fly and Pilate back to back; Eddie shining the back of the guitar on the crowd; losing my shit during Ole (don't care what anyone says, that's a damn fine jam) and then Eddie saying what he said about getting some people in the back to come up front; Chloe->Crown - uh, those aren't tears...I just had something in my eye ; Mark coming back out for Search and Destroy (I'd been listening to the Stooges a LOT over the last couple months...and that was just a treat); Bruce and Tim coming out for RITFW - damn that was awesome; and house lights up for much of the last encore - that was pretty amazing!
Then it ended. Why'd it have to end?!
I had such a great time at this show - it went by like a flash (as I figured it would - I was so worked up to see it).
I guess I could see how people thought the crowd was a little lethargic. There were a lot of guys and dolls my age who'd cop a squat every now and then for a few songs and then get up for Garden or Porch or Alive. The fans are getting older and there's nothing like a good sit when you can grab it. At least it wasn't like a Bruce Hornsby or Steely Dan or Sting show where everyone sits the whole time. There will be a day, mark it guys. There was a LOT of ganja being smoked in my section and I think that carried over into the "lethargy" of the crowd...or at least in my section.
It was such a pleasure to celebrate 20 years with Pearl Jam in Vancouver! I'd just finished "Everybody Loves Our Town: An Oral History of Grunge" by Mark Yarm (I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who digs Pearl Jam or any of the music coming out of Seattle in the 90s) and I recently watched "Pearl Jam 20" on PPV... Incredible perspective and increased my respect and appreciation for Matt, Jeff, Stone, Mike, Boom and Eddie tenfold.
Thanks.

Here is a wickedly true story about what one Pearl Jam fan did for another Pearl Jam fan, on the night of Sunday September 25, 2011 in Vancouver BC.
Today (Oct 4th) driving to work I was in a right pissy mood. Even my dog was dodging me. After I dropped him at his playmates house I turned the radio to The Fox. I use to listen to them lots but I don't like their new morning chick so in protest I listen to CD's. That said, Jeff (the main host) was reading an email from a fan. It went something like this: "My name is Chris and on Sun Sept 25 the night PJ was in town I went to the PC but I was to broke to get a ticket so I stood outside the doors just listening. Up walked a man from the neighbourhood. We started talking and I told him PJ is my fav band. Next thing you know, the man (Steve from Mac's Electrics) gave me $100 from his wallet so I could buy a ticket."
That was an awesome story - I thought, PJ would be pleased. Especially since they represent (correct me if I am wrong) generosity, compassion, humanity and rock & roll.
Then after hearing the story I decided to google Mac's Electric and then I was talking to Steve. I told him I heard of the story on the radio and that I had to personally thank him for helping out a fellow Pearl Jam fan. Come to find out, Steve is a PJ fan too and he couldn't decide if he wanted to pay $80 for a ticket behind the stage or not. In the end he said "I felt better giving the money to Chris so he could see the show instead of me".

It crossed my mind today that nobody had posted regarding some funny "notable banter" from EV at this show.
I think it was during one of the encores(?) after a loud/fast song Ed spits a big spray onto the floor in front of his mic and immediately looks to the front row slightly to his right with a somewhat embarassed look on his face and mumbles "sorry". Then into the mic (something like): "I spit because I don't swallow" (much laughter) "Swallowing takes too long. Give it a try and you'll see for yourself".
Mind you the song was over so actually in this one instance he did have lots of time, but anyway.....
And no he didn't aim it at the deadbeats to centre-left. Good thing, otherwise they may start playing behind The Wall.

LIFE WASTED, BLOOD on the PORCH, LAST KISS is a WISHLIST DEEP DOWN NOTHING AS IT SEEMS WHY GO COME BACK ALIVE SPIN THE BLACK CIRCLE and SMILE.
And here's some less than stellar photos from the back of the venue, meh:

Great show.
LOL!!
Highlights for me: Animal; Given to Fly and Pilate back to back; Eddie shining the back of the guitar on the crowd; losing my shit during Ole (don't care what anyone says, that's a damn fine jam) and then Eddie saying what he said about getting some people in the back to come up front; Chloe->Crown - uh, those aren't tears...I just had something in my eye
Thanks.

That is sweet - someones Wishlist came true!
That is the coolest damn thing I've heard/read/seen all day!

Reading your reply made me smile - such a cool story
Its resorted my faith in humanity
