I really need to finishin packin for my early morning flight, but then the other reference struck me. Wishlist: I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as BC! And Eddie did an extended wish i was the president. Look out for my fellow man. Run my country like a rock and roll band...
And I think that was Stone's crystal clear solo, wishlist.
And didn't Jeff shred during off he goes? stone on bass and Jeff takes the lead? Ahhhh so fun! Present tense, wish list, glorified ... Luvin that sequence!
Sound can be funny, if you're close it's not uncommon not to notice when a PA cuts out. In the back, not so fortunate... And some people can just never get enough cowbell in the mix!
As much as I luv rvm, porch shredded tonight! That's when Eddie did the mirror guitar spotlight, and yeah, awesome at the end, he put the light right up to the Canadian flag in the rafters!
Strange how some people think the sound was awesome and the crowd was pumped, and others think the sound and the crowd were shit. I rocked out as hard as I ever have, but I can see where others maybe weren't as intense. I was in row 33 on the floor, and the sound was great I thought. Oh well, to each his own. Hopefully the setlist made up for any other disappointments. I did find the show poster a little creepy though, anyone else?
Gordan: The setlist was mindblowing. We were in the stands, row 13 Mike's side, and the sound was perfect. We had a recognition of our sign (ZAGREB REMEMBERS) from Eddie and that was beyond imaginable. I totally agree with you about the poster. My friend, who ownes a poster from every show that he went to and many others, didn't want to buy one. Hey, nobody's perfect. But the t-shirt was great.
I was so worried about getting back downtown after the show and they ran a special bus line without charging anyone all the way to downtown! they just have the right attitude about things up here in the north
Halfway through the setlist I knew I was getting the boot and it would be in heavy rotation, wow.
The sound on the floor back/middle was damn good, but yes muddy. but its arena space, and this is arena rock at its finest!
Better crowd and sound in Calgary, but setlist was killer. Finally got Umemployable.
I agree with a couple of the previous posts about the crowd being a bit lame when it comes to so many non-hits being played, but hey. It probably also depends on where you were, I could see people rocking out, they just weren't near me. :? There were no issues with the band, in fact, across three shows I don't recall them ever being this consistent and into the shows. Bodes well for the future!
One of my favorite moments seems innocuous, but at one point Mike, Jeff, Stone and Eddie were all standing almost shoulder to shoulder in a small circle in front of Matt's kit. Well not standing, rocking! Having seen so many bands that barely acknowledge each other on stage, the moment made me smile. They could have been in some garage 20 years ago. The audience had ceased to exist and they were just jammin.
And to introduce one song Eddie said, I usually dedicate this one to the audience, but tonight I just wanna sing it to these guys up here. They make me smile.
Next time the people in the front row come to a show, maybe they'll switch tix with someone who's losing their shit the whole show - like me! That was incredible!

Freaking awesome. 'Glorified G' and 'Smile' (Chloe Dancer was brilliant) were top shelf and personal faves. Setlist was to die for. Band's energy was as high as I have ever seen. This show was one of the best.
In response to 3 criticisms:
1. I thought the crowd was great. The people in my section to the right, facing the stage could not have rocked any harder! I did think it was appropriate for Ed to call out the spoiled, lifer bums in the 1st row who "were giving no energy." Likely, entitled 10C members still angry about not getting backpacks.
I think it is fair to say that the rarities that were played tonight- mixed with 'champions'- created an ebb and flow for crowd response and appreciation. When it was time to give it up, the crowd did so in fine fashion. Outside of 'the 1st row bums'... the band enjoyed who they were playing for- it was obvious.
2. From where we stood, the sound was great- but i have been to many shows at the PNE when the sound wasn't (although i can't testify to it... ). Although you won't get me to concede a 'poor crowd', I could be convinced that in areas of the ancient PNE, sound was less than stellar.
3. Poster. Hmmmm. Hoping it grows on me. Emek. Shit. I'm hoping that 'flipper' guy blew his wad and bought 20 of them. He won't be getting his money back.
Great Show.
The folks on eddies left were the problem because they didn't like Ole.....
The rest of the crowd was great and the venue was just fine (as long as you don't like beer and don't have canadian cash).
Some real treats PILOT was perfect.
Great Show.

You're in Canada... don't u think u should have Canadian cash?
SO much No Code! Chloe Dancer/COT- I have been talking about seeing that combo pretty much daily since Alpine, and it happened! Bee Girl, totally off my radar and great to hear. And Glorified- I was so jealous when Montreal got it and now I did too!
Center floor row 21 vocals were extremely "muddy." But that just gave me inventive to sing! My buddy and I were the only ones rocking out that I could see, and that gave me incentive to rock out harder. Actually saw more people making out than rocking out... Our friends up in the bowl could even pick us out from above the people were so stationary. It was one of our buddy's first pj show, and it was awesome meeting him afterward only to find him rocking a pj shirt, high on life, asking when we are going to the next show! Amazing personal experience. SOOOO much No Code!!!!!!
Great setlist! Wish I could have been there, it would have been great to listen to Garden, Off he goes, and Glorified G (all of which I have never heard live). And Chloe Dancer followed by Crown of Thorns... now that must have been pretty special too.
I am just a dreamer, but you are just a dream... If I knew where it was I would take you there.
Great Show.

Yes, but the ATM machines didn't work with non-Canadian ATM cards. Sucked for those of us who waited in line for an hour and/or ran out of cash earlier in the night.
First off thanks to the 10C for the tickets. Finally struck the lottery Front Row!!
I will try to clear up things that seem to be confusing people from what I've read so far.
1) No one batted away Mike's shirt that he threw out, they swing their arm and grabbed it.
2) I don't think Ed was talking shit at all about Seattle. When he 1st asked who was there from Seattle, he looked surprised that they were being so loud since the 09' Key Arena crowds were pretty weak.
3) The front row was killing it all around me (Front Center Left of the stage - - > the left side ) There was a group of around 4-6 people that were not 'rockin' out like some expect between Ed and Stone which is what Ed was getting at during 'Ole'
It was pretty intense actually during Ole when Ed was singing right at them, clearly he was trying to scare/pump them up I thought it was pretty rad actually. It almost reminded me of when he was singing Breath to the Vancouver security guard like in the PJ20 Movie.
Now for the show, it was awesome. Lot's of No Code which I'll take anytime as that is my favorite album. The stretch from Hail Hail to Given to Fly was intense. Great way to start the show off with a bang.
Standout tracks for me tonight were Garden, SOLAT, Present Tense, CD/COT, Smile & Search & Destroy. You could tell the boys were having a great time and were glad to be so close to home. This show was definitely a great way to wrap up the tour. South America will be in for a treat.
It was unreal to be Front Row, This was I believe my 15th show and the last time I was front was my very first show back when you had to fight for the front row. It been a fun journey from September 93' to September 11'

First of all, Garden. I've never heard it live and that was absolutely epic for me. Now, I just need Oceans to close out Ten. The whole setlist was incredible. So many rarities, that it was a true gem for hardcore fans. Leaving the venue I walked behind some pissed off guy cursing about not getting Black or Betterman or Daughter. I was embarrassed for him. He was a jack hole.
I thought the crowd was pretty good. Not as loud or as passionate as Edmonton though. Some deadbeats, but our section was rocking out and I was right there with them. Our friends had a different experience sitting in section F. They made the best of it, I think given some people around them sat around the whole show. Buzz kill.
There were times the sound was not too good. I had trouble following at some points, but the band was on fire and having a hell of a time. Switching it around was a treat. Watching Ament on guitar was cool for Bee Girl. Glad they threw that in there, was totally expecting the usual Just Breath opening encore 1. Even cooler was Cameron on guitar and Stone on drums. What a true treat.
As always, thank you to Pearl Jam for giving us so much love, and so much to love. Can't express how grateful I am as a fan to have that much energy put into the show.
Great show and great version of RITFW with the Green River guys. They were on fire up there. My ears are buzzing still. Little Wing, Glorified G, Off He Goes, Mankind were highlights. Ole was intense, much better live version I thought.
I'm pretty sure the same young girl that came with her mom who posts here that had earphones on 2 years ago and got stuff from Eddie was there again and got a tambourine and pick from McCready and got to be front row for the last couple songs. That was cool. Fan for life for sure. It's cool seeing them treat the young fans in attendance.
Some guy ran into the front rows trying to get on stage and security guard did an amazing job by grabbing him and lifting him over the rails and dragging him out. That was the odd moment of the night.
Let's get the crowd thing out of the way here. It was rocking but clearly not as loud as other shows I've been to but that should never take away from a good night of music.
The band was on fire and everyone around me was rocking.
It comes down to this:
a) Beer sales. More beer = louder crowds. Beer lineups were huge, fuck standing in those lines. I was at Seattle 2 years ago and the Vancouver show in 09. Couldn't drink beer on the floor in Seattle. Crowd wasn't as loud. It's a fact, beer makes for more noise.
b) Sunday night vs. Friday night - people are tired from the weekend partying and whatnot and some are inevitably thinking and dreading their jobs and shit. No excuses, but it's a fact. Same scenario as 2 years ago. Seattle was early in the week and Vancouver was on a Friday...and this year Edmonton traded places with Vancouver for a Friday night. People are ready to rock the fuck out and let loose on a Friday night.
Annie - I hope to get to visit Zagreb one day as I have family over there. I'll plan my trip around a PJ show, I saw your sign and heard the shout-out.
A HUGE THANK YOU to zebra27...dude, i lost count of how many beers you bought us...you are one super uber cool member of the Jamily and hey, if i ever make it to Minneapolis, i am buying! you don't have a say in the matter! Thanks again, you know how it works up here...PJ, hockey and BEER...same as you! what a coincidence

Great Show.

Had someone told me Small Town opened last night, I would have NEVER expected the show that unfolded. This would appear to be the show to attend. Hail, hail the lucky ones.
Little Wing? I believe that hasn't been played since 1995 perhaps. Might only be the second time they've ever really attempted it. I'm curious to know if Bruce joined them for Chloe/Crown. It would seem pretty appropriate.
We loved the show! Finally, a show with lots of No Code!! I wanted to hear Smile and Off He Goes and they played both. Mankind was a pleasant surprise. Garden was the only song from Ten that I needed to hear and they played it- I didn't even need to make a sign!!
Chloe Dancer was absolutely mesmerizing and I captured it on my iPhone(I missed the first 2 lines though). I gave my floor tickets to my sister and brother-in-law and chose to sit in the stands. Had a great view of the stage.
My voice was pretty shot last night, but I still gave it everything I had. I think there were a lot of people like that. After multiple shows you get a little drained. I think that might explain why some fans appeared lethargic last night. The energy was a little different, but I still had a great time and the band put on a hell of a show.
Thank you Pearl Jam! Come back to Canada soon!
Miss you already!!!

I couldn't agree more. I've sat through 20 shows watching the people in the front row. Most of the lottery winners are mundane, boring and lifeless.
A note about the crowds: From my observations, the Pearl Jam crowds are getting older (30+ yrs) and they don't rock out like they once did. Also, many of the people in the crowd don't know Bee Girl, Pilate or Garden. They are there to see Betterman, Black, Daughter, Just Breathe etc... I found the same thing in Hamilton, even in the 10C sections. PJ crowds aren't WILD anymore, end of story. The crowds in Toronto or East Troy are about as good as it gets now.
2003: Toronto
2004: Boston 1
2005: Kitchener, London, Hamilton, Ottawa, Toronto
2006: Toronto (1&2)
2007: LOLLAPALOOZA
2008: Mansfield (1& 2), EV Toronto
2009:Toronto
2010: Cleveland, Buffalo
2011: EV Detroit, East Troy (1&2), Toronto (1&2) Hamilton
2013: London, Pittsburgh, Buffalo
2014: Milan, Trieste, Vienna, Berlin, Detroit
I'm 52 (is that 30+?), I don't rock out the way I used to, but on the other hand, I've never been much of a hand waver/jumper. And yes, not the best sound or the best crowd. Still an awesome, incredible, fun show. Met a lot of interesting folks, some of them were even Canadian :-)
Present Tense always gets me, I thought Porch was extra special last night, and Crown of Thorns I think still has real meaning for the band and that comes through.
Stone on drums was the absolute highlight, who knew? And Jeff on guitar and Stone on base, with the low-five they threw at each other on the way back to their spots, cool.
Last show of the tour, I though the band looked tired when they came off after the first encore. But the energy was super high for the second encore, what a way to rally and finish up. Gave my 10-Club tickets to two friends of my niece, who just wanted to hear Yellow Ledbetter, I promised it to them and I'm glad the band obliged in such an awesome fashion. Super excited when Matt sat back down at the drums and knew something special was coming.
Bummed I don't have a show to look forward to. Costa Rica? Hmmmmmmmm..........
Had a great time, much has been said already. Crowd was.... good enough!
The best band!!
MVP was Matt Cameron with Jeff Ament a very close second. They were rocking so hard during the jams. Everyone's enraptured by EV's mirror or tambourine throwing while the boys are huddled around the kit and totally grooving. Stone Gossard seemed a bit less into it compared to previous shows I've seen. Played great, just not as many smiles (except while drumming!) or moving around the stage.
Opening and first 2/3 of main set had me fist-pumping head-banging with everybody (5 rows up into stands, about 25 floor-rows out from stage), and then the "collectors" songs started with Unemployable and you could feel the life drain out of the crowd. Present Tense was great, but the set limped into a very intense Lukin and Porch to close it out. It's not because Unemployable and Glorified G aren't popular songs, it's because they aren't popular and simply are not that good. Wishlist is good, but hardly an energizer.
Life returned to the crowd later with SOLAT, but then Ole before Alive to close Encore 1? I think it's a good song, but it's only been heard by 10C and Jimmy Fallon viewers! Fun to watch EV challenge the front row, but wtf do you expect Eddie? Everybody and their budgie pissing their pants to a song they've never heard before?! And then he calls them out in public! What a fucking prick.
Anyway, from then on it was full-on the best rock and roll you'll ever see. It was like a band-crew-party/reunion. Lots and lots of fun and awesome playing by everybody.
Looking forward to next time.
